Theme was Best in Native American and was held at the Under the Arches venue at Two Moon Gardens in Second Life on Tuesday 24th March 2015 from 12pm to 2pm SL / 7pm to 9pm UK time. DJ Greywolf (aka DJ Dieter from the Purple Gator) played a mix of music that included both native American music and music by Native American groups. Elleese was hostess for the celebration and the location here: maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Ferndale/59/227/27
This one is a mixture of the geometric and the tribal. Again, this is an outfit to be worn with a special skin, a dark drow skin with blue geometric tattoos scattered onto the cheeks, skull, buttocks and hands, legs and feet. This one has a tiny leotard which exposes strips of the derriere in such a way that the underlying tattoos are revealed. A pair of hunter boots were modified to create the boots with the prim cuffs. The hair is made out of hair-pipes which culminate in spheres at either tip - blue for the skull end, hair for the outer end.The ensemble is completed by a huge prim Elizabethan collar and hip floaters made up of tiny blue segmented cubes and spheres.

Grapho has finally gotten round to doing what he has been wanting to do since his rezz day pretty much - a "mech" avatar!
This is constructed out of invisiprims: At one point we realized that if you add shine to an invisprim, it turns into a most wonderful glass bubble. Of course, invisprims are highly problematic next to any alpha transparent texture, but the effect is so nice that Grapho let caution fly to the winds and indulged.
So, you get the male/female skins, the helmet, "mech" arm wings, lower arms, "mech" hands, a very elaborate machine-like pelvis, combined with upper legs and "mech" feet.

I met Jeanni Nishi on Flickr, through a very nice and supportive comment that she wrote for the Uncanny Valley set, in which she expressed an interest in the whole process. As time went on she and I began to correspond and she let me know at some point that she had designed an "uncanny" skin and showed me the pictures she had posted here on Flickr. Then she wanted to know if I would be interested in trying out the skin to which I gave a yelp of joy in response. The skin duly arrived in SL. So, here it is:
Alpha is crying... Crying helplessly, silently, in resignation. This is the closest that I have ever felt to Alpha, the most that I have ever identified with her avatar pain... Jeanni thank you. You have made Alpha come alive for me, like never ever before.
And also my apologies Jeanni: I do realize that the skin needs to be worn fully naked since it covers the body in such a way that the whole thing creates a really gorgeous continuity. However, here is the thing: Despite my loud mouthed demeanor, when all is said done, I am actually a bit of a prude... In any case, I wore a corset that I hope goes with the skin.

This is truly horrifiying. I had a really hard time doing this...
I saw the Cyborg skin on space ship designer Ichtyo Broome, but seeing it on someone else is not quite the same as putting it on yourself. I did have a sense that clothing Alpha in this skin would be a very difficult thing to do and it took me a really long time to even decide to go out and purchase the skin. But finally I did it yesterday. The bones are the bones of the whale avatar of Flea Bussy.
So, this is the end of the road for now: I have raked this as deep as I think can go at the moment without totally cracking up over it. One of my favorite writers is Mishima and what I think of as one of his best books is entitled "The Decay of the Angel". And that is what should probably be the title of these.
I am soooo totally beyond proud of myself: Ichtyo Broome is a really spectacular spacecraft designer. Apparently he knows wolfie through the aviation circles in Second Life and saw my S+R uniform on him. The other week he contacted me and gave me an order to design a spacesuit for him. Given what a remarkeble designer he is himself, I am tickled pink by this compliment to my design skills. And he made me a wonderful deal on top of the compliment: I get paid quite a nice chunk of L$'s AND on top of that he will give me 5 of his gorgeous space ship. Needless to say, I will be sharing these with my avatar family: Hack gets one, wolfie gets one, Mossy gets one and new friend, lovely Tschoanna gets one also since she too is a kick-ass pilot (unlike me... *sigh*)
So, tonight I had an in-world business meeting with my wonderful client Mr. Broome...
First we went to a cybersuit shop, so that he could show me the sort of style he had in mind...
I actually took these photos of Steampunk Alpha a while ago.
I have been agonizing over a paper I am meant to be writing and suddenly these gave me an inspiration: I shall write about avatars and the Uncanny Valley...

The new alchemical fascilities at Syncretia. These are actually situated within a neko and furry gym that I am still working on, directly below the power plant. I have decided that I am spending way too much money on facial products. So, from this day forward I will be manufacturing my own and I will also be giving it away to my sisters (interested brothers are also highly welcome of course) in the metaverse for free. A walking, talking (not to mention writing) monument to altruism, me... hhh

This garment is a tribute to Redouté's beautiful Rosa Indica drawing:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierre-Joseph_Redout%c3%a9
The outfit comes with two skins, one of which is quite wild in that the roses cover the eyes and lips, creating an almost scary feel. The other skin is far more flattering. There is a black and a white version to the garment, which comes with arm attached rose particle emitters, a mohawk, skirts, sculpty pumps and sheer stockings.

This one took a long time coming. It is the sister outfit of one called "My name is Black" which Grapho made quite some time ago. It is a challenge when you base a garment on as spectacular a book as "My name is Red" by Orhan Pamuk is. The story evolves around a murder mystery involving a group of calligraphers in 16th century Istanbul. And so, Xia based the garment on Ottoman ornamentations and (predictably enough) the color red.
This is unisex and has a huge turban (well, sort of ;-) festooned with pennants, harem boots, arm and leg attachments and male and female belts.

Representations that fall into the Uncanny Valley would not necessarily have to be mechanoid - or at least that is what I would imagine. Something which is humanoid yet clearly non-human, should also qualify. It would however have to have negative subconscious associations, such as a succubus surely must have. I am reading up on my Freud to see if I can find any substantiation for this claim in what he has to say upon the subject of the Uncanny.
So meanwhile, Flea Bussy's Smoke avatar comes with an entirely different shape and skin as well as hair. I kept the bald look and adjusted all the prims to Alpha's shape and size. And also made them semi transparent. The skin is Vry Offcourse's "Frail" skin.
This one is actually called the "Smoke Incubus" at Grendel's Children. However, since Alpha is female she cannot be an Incubus, only a Succubus.
This one took a lot of planning and engineering: Alpho wanted to create something which was split right down the middle. However, needless to say, the SL avatar templates definitely do not allow for that. So, she overcame that obstacle by builidng a transparent arm. And the problem with that is that it digs a huge big hole into your torso whenever someone looks at you from the side. So, that little problem my furry sister overcame by adding a plate to the side of the body. This is all unisex by the way and comes with male and female skins, assymetric skirts, the hybrid head complete with mohawk and whiskers, paw boots, the arm and plate and an animated solar system. ;-)

Same identical shape, I just changed the skin.
It is all in the expression. All our humanity, all our beauty, everything we posses is our expression. It really doesn't matter if you have steampunk prosthesis or black horns or whether your skin is green. What will catapult you over the threshold of the valley, into the realm of the fully human is your expression...
Again, thank you Jeanni for making me see that.

No, I have not decided to become a Furry. A close friend of mine has graciously helped me with these photos. She would also prefer to maintain her anonymity, so I will respect her wishes and not disclose her name...
The outfit is largely made out of four Yip's Roly Poly ensemble, from which I used both the skirts, the flower belt and the bird bow, the roly polies on the chest and the flying birdies. The top garment is by June Dion and is part of a Victorian dress called Vanessa. The furry avatar (of which my friend is only is using the head) is created by Miaka Amat and this is truly one of the most beautiful furry faces that I have seen. Instead of obliterating all expressiveness in the usual jumble of prims, Amat, has utilized the top part of the human shape and added prims only to the cheeks and chin. Finally, the boots are by LuizHernandez Slade and can be found at the Freebie Dungeon.
Making an outfit out of the jellyfish which I made for Syncretia was actually one of the very first things that I had in mind when I started making skins and apparel. It is now Alpho, our hybrid creatures specialist, who has undertaken this.
Men and women get the skins, the jellyfish "skirts", tendril spines and cheeks, a nice little skullcap and tendril shoes.

Hanging out with all those engineers finally seems to be paying its dividends folks! These are completely accurate data-viz diagrams (which I am using with the owners permission of course. He is my brilliant student computer scientist/designer Berkay Kaya whose masters thesis in flow visualization applied to info-viz I have shamelessly pilfered to suit my own unsavoury purposes). Even the 3D excel chart hair ornament is more or less accurate!
So, who's the mostest modernist now, Msssssss Amina, huh? hhh
In addition to said excel chart you get male and female skins, suits, sneakers, page-boy hair and arm ornaments. And as a special gift I am also throwing in what is possibly the coolest hover vehicle ever made in SL: The "Hover Squiddy" by Cubey Terra, textured by yours truly.

Lots of very similar shots here. More for my benefit than anyone else's obviously.
The outfit comes with two skins, both Drow themed - one dark and one lighter, both with seashell tattoos; two vests, a somewhat sexy jumpsuit ;-), spur boots, the tentacled glow hair and of course the tentacled seashell train.
It took me a very long time to work this one out. Attaching sleeves to the vest alone took me the better part of an afternoon...
The hair is a heavily reworked Philips Replacement full perm object. Similarly, the shoes and the sculpty vest are reworked full perm items created by others. I have used eyes by AlterEgoTrip Svenska, who makes some of the most expressive eyes on the grid I think.
Once again, the entire outfit is skin based - and the skin is yet another skin modification based upon Eloh Eliot's templates.

Every last stitch has been made by me...
The skin is a modification of Eloh Eliot's "another skin". I tattooed the face as well as the skull and parts of the body with huge red ammonites, which were created with Filter Forge.
The outfit comes with two skirts and two headdresses. The skirt and the headdress emit light, on top of which the headdresses very slowly rotate around the head.
I had a total lark doing it...
Oh and, will this be for sale? Yes, it will be - eventually... All but the skin. That one will be a gift, in the fullest respect to the actual creator, the amazing Ms. Eloh Eliot! To her I owe the inspiration (and of course the skin template to begin with - hhh)

After a long absence we are back with "Copper Celt" designed by Grapho: The medieval armor which was largely used for the attachments is a full permissions item by Wyld Magic which Grapho has minutely re-textured as well as modified and added onto. This is a unisex outfit with skins and texture leotards for both sexes. All the attachments (and believe me there are a lot of them!) can be worn by men and women alike, although some scaling up may be called for where men are concerned. The ladies also get an extra skirt btw...
