The theme which I designed myself is called Sentinel and is based around the machines from the Matrix movie.

The plugins I use are:

Compiz-Fusion

SuperKaramba

Cairo-Dock

Emerald

VirtualBox

VMware

I use Sabayon as the main OS and Vista, Leopard and Belenix as virtual machines.

If you are a linux user you can try out my theme which I have uploaded to kde-look.org

How many Ubuntu flavors can I run at once?

This is Virtualbox-OSE running on top of Ubuntu Intrepid x64. Guest OSes are OpenGEU (a flavor of Ubuntu that uses the Enlightenment DR 17 window manager), eeebuntu (a flavor of ubuntu aimed at ASUS eee pc's), and Ubuntu Hardy Heron i386.

Next up: I need to find a legitimate Windows XP license to run XP in virtualbox's "seamless" mode.

Performance isn't too bad, actually.

Showing off my new fingerless mitts and my new closet office set-up. I moved the old 24" display into the closet, so now Debbie and I won't be fighting over the main PC as much (I actually have a VirtualBox XP session I can run in here to do basic edits and uploads).

Project 365 22 November 2010 326/365

Organizing the second desktop on the external monitor hooked to the notebook. I've set the for virtual machines in a nice quadrant layout.

There's a natural gas leak less than a kilometre away from us at work. We're just outside the current evacuation zone. It sounded like a loud jet engine from my house this morning as the gas vented into the atmosphere, which is about 7 km away. We have not been evacuated and capping it may take a few hours.

I decided to try running my computer with just Linux and putting WIndows into a virtual appliance (VirtualBox). So far so good.

The screenshot shows Windows XP running under VirtualBox on Kubuntu Feisty Fawn. Not sure why I would want Windows XP but since I finally have a decent computer I decided I wanted to know what the whole virtualisation hype is all about.

I have, almost without effort, installed WinXP, Ubuntu and Debian under VirtualBox. The virtual GNU/Linux machines will be great for learning stuff without messing up my real system. :)

Now that we have a very basic widget coded up, we should fire up our Simulator and see how it works. We do this by switching to our VM and then selecting Applications -> TV Widgets -> 540 Latest Production -> 540 Latest Production Simulator from the menu bar. Once the simulator starts up and does it's initial bootstrap install, you should see something similar to the above image. You might have to arrow over to the left side to bring the Hello World widget into view.

Akhirnya berhasil memblankonkan sebuah XO.

But, it says I need a software update to play the video. I guess I should do what it says and install their software.

First of all, you need to install VirtualBox on your machine. It's available for free from www.virtualbox.org. Follow the instructions on their site for your platform.

Even for those already running Linux on their host machine, we highly recommend running VirtualBox and using our provided VM. By keeping the Simulator inside the VM, it's much easier to manage incompatibilities between different Linux apps and to insure that updates don't break the environment. Also using Vagrant, you will find it is extremely easy and quick to just scrap everything and start over in the event something brakes inside the VM.

Kubuntu live running inside Virtualbox inside Ubuntu...!

Notice anything odd? Like the fact that I have a whole other operating system running in a window inside another desktop? Bad-A!

When the Ubuntu installer goes to install the package, you will see that you have to accept the Terms of Use to install the package. Just click ok and then select "Accept" on the following screen (assuming of course you do) and then you will be returned back to the prompt with an "install successful" message.

I've had a problem with an old 1990's program that doesn't run on any 64-bit operating systems.

Thanks to Oracle Virtualbox I'm slowly starting to get things in place... Drag&Drop file transfer seems to work pretty well too.

An excellent way anyways to test various things without risk of messing up one's normal computer totally.

With VirtualBox seamless mode your virtualized Windows can share your Linux desktop. This is the trial version of Windows Server 2008 x86 running under Ubuntu Hardy AMD64.. Now I can use my favorite Intype under Linux without any font problems..

Testing, testing, 7,7,7. It's alright, but I still prefer Ubuntu for obvious reasons. That, and it's too shiny for my tastes.
