Some of the larger parts of the Virgo are still present, rusted and collect bits of rope and fishing net.
Maybe a topical photo this. This week there was a cargo ship that almost ran aground near Mimizan on the Atlantic coast of Aquitaine. This would not have been the first and this this photo shows the remains of the Virgo that ran aground on the night of 1st December 1976. This is what is left! The BIG storm of that night also sank the Apollonian Wave which is close by, but only visible at low tide.
Virgo Monday January 7th: There is an old saying in Chinese philosophy that anything which shoots up fast like plants growing in a swamp, wither just as quickly. Diamonds on the other hand which are produced very slowly under great pressure last for ever. Applied to life it means that persistent effort over time produces long lasting results. Don't dash in expecting overnight miracles. You tend not to take life at face value at the moment. You don't feel comfortable around too much small talk and surface chatter.
so how many guessed i would be posting again the next day? hard habit to break, after a year. got a bunch of outtakes....

This is our local galaxy cluster. Every fuzzy or elongated star is probably a galaxy. Welcome to the 'hood
Well over 100 galaxies of the Virgo cluster, of various shapes and sizes, many with pleasing internal structure, are recorded here.
Dominating left of centre is the yellow-red super-massive elliptical galaxy, M87, its relativistic blue jet visible coming out of the core at 2 o'clock on the clock face. Upper right is part of Markarian's Chain containing the interacting pair of NGC 4435 and NGC 4438. Distance is 55 million ly.
Several distant galaxy clusters 100's of millions of light years away are also visible.
