Chippokes Plantation is one of the oldest continually farmed plantations in the country. A working farm since 1619, the park offers modern recreational activities and a glimpse of life in a bygone era. Visitors tour the historic area with its antebellum mansion and outbuildings, stroll through formal gardens, and view antique equipment at the Chippokes Farm and Forestry Museum.

Given that I didn't have a rational thought or make a rational decision for the first 25 or so years of my life, I am surprised I made it this far... And now that I am pretty much a full on grown up, I am starting to realize that I only get so many spins around the sun... guess I should come out here more often.
A strong breeze really made Margot, my supposedly fearless Yorkie a little timid today. She had a hard time keeping up the pace because the wind kept causing her hair to cover her eyes! She powered through it though, and managed to pose on this rock overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains(you can see Big Pinnacle just above her head way off in the distance, that's where we started). But, I think mainly she was just standing there waiting for me to drop any of my sandwich:)
Warren County, Virginia. Shenandoah River Raymond R. "Andy" Guest Jr. State Park is on the South Fork of the Shenandoah River and has more than 1,600 acres along 5.2 miles of shoreline. The park opened in June 1999. In addition to the meandering river frontage, the park offers scenic views of Massanutten Mountain to the west and Shenandoah National Park to the east. With more than 25 miles of trails, the park has plenty of options for hiking, biking, horseback riding and adventure.

Virginia Beach Va. First Landing State Park (formerly called Seashore State Park) commemorates the first landing of English settlers in 1607. The area was too swampy for them to stay, so they sailed up the James River and founded Jamestown. First Landing is also the northernmost place in the United States where Spanish Moss grows.

November 2022. Delaplane Virginia. This 1,860-acre park has scenic views, woodlands and the rolling pastures of a historic farm that captures the colonial through modern life of the Crooked Run Valley.
I made it up to the Highlands on Monday and Tuesday to grab photographs of the foals and the insane rhododendron blooms. It all looks amazing right now.
