And so my stream passed 10 million views, albeit at a slightly more sluggish speed than I was used to in 2014.

Still, it's an amazing amount, and I'm grateful for all the faves and comments that have come with all those views.

Thank you all.

I also have a daytime version of this photo.

Jericho sails and the Vancouver skyline in the rear view mirror of some old Mercedes. I wish I remembered what kind of Mercedes it was. I think the boys out there will think it should be noted but....I'm a girl and didn't even notice except for the fact that it was old, in great shape and really, really shiny :)

Moscow is the capital, the most populous city, and the most populous federal subject of Russia. The city is a major political, economic, cultural, scientific, religious, financial, educational, and transportation centre of Russia and the continent. Moscow is the northernmost city on Earth to have a population above 10,000,000, the most populous city in Europe, and the sixth largest city proper in the world. Its population, according to the preliminary results of the 2010 census, is 11,514,330. Based on Forbes 2011, Moscow had 79 billionaires, displacing New York as the city with the greatest number of billionaires.

Moscow is situated on the Moskva River in the Central Federal District of European Russia. In the course of its history the city has served as the capital of a progression of states, from the medieval Grand Duchy of Moscow and the subsequent Tsardom of Russia to the Soviet Union. Moscow is the site of the Moscow Kremlin, an ancient fortress that is today the residence of the Russian President and of the executive branch of the Government of Russia. The Kremlin is also one of several World Heritage Sites in the city. Both chambers of the Russian parliament (the State Duma and the Federation Council) also sit in Moscow.

The city is served by an extensive transit network, which includes four international airports, nine railroad terminals, and the Moscow Metro, second only to Tokyo in terms of ridership and recognised as one of the city's landmarks due to the rich and varied architecture of its 185 stations.

Over time, Moscow has acquired a number of epithets, most referring to its size and preeminent status within the nation: The Third Rome (Третий Рим), The Whitestone One (Белокаменная), The First Throne (Первопрестольная), The Forty Forties (Сорок Сороков). In old Russian the word "Сорок" (forty) also meant a church administrative district, which consisted of about forty churches. The demonym for a Moscow resident is Moskvitch, rendered in English as Muscovite.

Taken from outside the rented holiday cottage on the first evening of our arrival. A lovely rural scene of grassy fields, dry-stone walls, stone barns, stacked big bale silage and grazing sheep.

Taken with my Canon Telephoto Zoom 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM EF Lens and apart from being framed in Photoshop, is SOOC.

Deep in the Tugela Gorge in South Africa, we got a good view back up to the second highest waterfall in the world, which we had hiked to the top of two-days prior.

The best way to get a sense of the scale of the world is to travel by foot. When in the Drakensberg Mountains we hiked along the Tugela river that orginates in the mountains you see in the background of this photo, tumbles over the cliff edge as Tugela Falls and then heads to the sea in Tugela Gorge where I am standing. Following the path of the river this way provided a strong sense of the scale of the landscape both in terms of the size of the river and in the surrounding climate and plant life.

When so many aspects of modern life serve to make our planet seem smaller and smaller, taking time out to travel long distances by foot and rough it out a bit makes it clear that there actually is a lot to experience, enjoy and protect on our planet.

Pernštejn Castle (Czech: hrad Pernštejn) is a castle located on a rock above the village of Nedvědice and the rivers Svratka and Nedvědička, some 40 km northwest of Brno, in the South Moravian Region, Czech Republic. Pernštejn came to be known as the marble castle because of the marble-like stone used to frame the doors and windows.

It was founded by the Lords of Medlov probably between 1270-1285. The family branch seated at the castle and adopted the then fashionable name Pernštejn, which is the Czech version probably derived of the German name, Bärenstein - the "Bear Rock". Its history is closely connected to the Lords of Pernštejn (Pernštejnové) and their descendants. It has kept its intact appearance in the Gothic and Renaissance form as it was finished in the first half of the 16th century by the Pernštejns, then the richest and most powerful lordly family of the Czech kingdom. Pernštejn is one of the best preserved castles in Czech Republic.

Have already been to this wonderful castle several times, however this was the first time I tried to walk around a bit with the aim to find a spot with a view of the castle - this lookout with a nice shelter is called Mariino loubí (Maria Laube) - really worth a hike!
