With these dark window, the sun can not enter in the house. So the contrast is enormous between the strong outside luminosity and the subdued atmosphere inside.
Taken from the window of the upstairs family room in the house we're renting this year. I find the neighborhood creepily sterile. Like a movie set. We seldom see other people--like us, they move from house to car inside their garages. But it was pretty the evening I took this, as we watched the fog roll in and obscure the trees.

View from Donner Summit. That little opening on the right side is called the "Picture Window"

Did I mention green was my favourite colour; oh, I did. he, he, he!
There's nothing so beautiful as a green garden after (or in this case during) the rain.
I miss it. All that sunlight is really lovely. I have a mostly windowless office here in Seattle. (There is a window to the hallway, and the nice man across the hall from me leaves his door open often enough that I get a peek at the outdoors. But it's not the same as direct sunlight...)
The morning and evening views from my living room window. I just love this 100+ year old black walnut tree.
Its favorite animal friends are squirrels (leaving no good nuts for the humans) and crows. Then an occasional raccoon or blue jay.
The light through the window is such a lovely thing during the day.
At night I just can't get enough of the contrast of cobalt blue and the black silhouette of the tree branches.
My guy also enjoys to photograph the walnut tree. Check them out: winter images
I took this photo through the window at my computer on April 17, 2023. My little crabapple tree is looking so lovely! This would make a great Spring computer wallpaper!
