With my recent long exposure photos, I have intermittently suffered from light leakage, which I supected was coming through the viewfinder even though I had put the viewfinder cover on!

The above is a 12 minute exposure where the only way light could get into the camera was via the viewfinder (no cover). The lens cover was on. The camera was sitting on a windowsill for 12 minutes (I forgot about it if I am being honest).

Still it proves the point. I need a better way of covering the viewfinder in addition to the standard Canon supplied flexible rubber cover!

Forgot I'd processed these! I suggest viewing larger.

I took this photo with a Canon Ixus camera through the viewfinder of my Leica M9. You see the framelines and in the center the rectangular focusing area.

Nice bright rangefinder patch in the center, with the meter signal above it (red = Bad exposure setting, green = Good exposure stting). Parts of the automatically parallax corrected bright frame lines can be seen on the left and right.

I tried again to get a picture of Ebony on the furry thing. I succeeded. I have found that the only way she will sit still is if I don't look through the viewfinder...maybe she is scared of the camera faced girl? I do not know how I manged to get this in focus.

My computer's bin now has 64 images in it.

check out my new and improved filthy viewfinder.

also check out how weird my cat looks in this picture.

Along the Niagara River there are several viewing areas above and below the falls. This one in particular is on the Canadian side not far from where the Maid of the Mist boat tours leave. I shot this at night using a tripod and then converted it to black and white using Silver Efx.

I love how the falls are really noticeable here - I have the light show to thank for that. At this particular time the lights were casting a brilliant white light. You can just make out the Rainbow Bridge at the far left side of the frame as well as some of the hotels on the Buffalo side of the river.

Through the viewfinder of a pentax spotmatic es2 the worlds first fully auto 35 mm slr with manual overide and very rare.

Lovely 100% and large clear view with 3d image on a real ground glass fresnel screen. not the plastic ones all later manufacturing put in. With the notable exception of the Nikon F2 serise i believe.

I've changed the colour a bit with the filters on the pentax optio

Polished and the VF is finally here!

I was searching for a cheap viewfinder solution for the Ricoh GR. Nothing special, just something I can watch through and roughly see what I'm going to shoot at. I found nothing in an acceptable price range, so I decided to build my own viewfinder.

Luckily I found a cheap plastic case for an iPhone 4 with a little plastic viewfinder on top at amazon. In Germany it only costs 10 bucks.

The hotshoe is way to small, but with a bit patience and pliers I managed to cut out a piece of plastic which fits the standard hotshoe and screwed on the viewfinder. A bit ducktape here and there and voilà! I can even mount and unmount it without damage.

Unfortunately in the .com store it costs $45 but it's still a third of the price of an original viewfinder. Here is the link:

Extra viewfinder for the Lens conversion kit.

Two extra frames, neither very filling.

The viewfinder is designed to be looked at from a distance. Hold the camera at your waist and look down into the viewfinder. Note that it is a mirror image of the scene. This can be disorienting at first.
