The viewfinder on the Double Dip camera underestimates the field of view by a surprisingly large amount - here's a guide to what you see compared to what you get on film...

Having taken so many photos of 4S43 through the years, I thought I'd take a slightly different approach today, and took a picture of my second camera I use for filming instead. This used to be my primary camera, but it suffered from stabilisation issues after a good while in use so I got a newer version, and now use the old one on a Gorilla Pod. Viewfinder (SFX-01 Edge) is part of the PerfectEffect Scouting Force X (PE-11). He's a third party homage to the old G1 Decepticon character. Here he is in robot mode.

Viewfinder, the center part of Reflector, has a nasty pair of shotguns at the ready.

Very similar to the new Silette-L. The only difference is that the hot shoe and meter are replaced with a flash bulb holder.

this is an old wast-level viewfinder camera my dad bought off of ebay. eventually I think he plans to mod it with some digital camera guts. should make a pretty classy-looking point and shoot.

The view of my bed through the viewfinder of my new camera. It's difficult to get any kind of focus so I'm happy with this even if it is a bit abstract.

Here's Akita taking his own version of the through-the-telescope shot. I haven't seen his yet.

my father-in-law's voigtlander bessa 66. i shot a roll of 120 with it yesterday & today. however, i did so before checking the shutter. i checked the shutter today after finishing the roll & as it turns out the shutter opens fine after pressing the lever, but it doesn't close without the lever on the lens being pushed down. oops. the whole roll should end up overexposed.

i searched for info, but couldn't find much of anything about this particular model.

Seems someone on UP has a sense of humor. UP 6587, looking a little worse for wear leads UP 4417 at CO 285.

This is my Yashica lynx-14E fully operating coupled viewfinder camera from about 1966. It has a huge Yashinon multi-coated f1.4 50 mm lens, parallax correction, built-in light meter, warning blinkers in the viewfinder for over-and under exposure. Actually you need nothing else to make nice pictures. Erik and i bought a high-resolution filmscanner, so this beauty has no holidays anymore.

The viewfinder unit from the camera, plus a couple of wheels that could be seen through little windows in the top of the camera.

I've made this into a little contraption to take 'through the viewfinder' photos with my digital.

If you're looking for devotion, you gotta show me one..

The little ring thing is loose. It moves more or less depending on where the zoom and focus are set, and I'm pretty sure it has fallen down/scooted back far enough once to either interfere with the mirror, or at least block light -- I was able to see the curved black shape of the ring through the viewfinder and the image made was completely dark.

Would it be a terrible idea to leave this ring out? I don't want to damage my $500 camera with a $50 lens. :-/ And it's so loose, I can't believe it's serving any functional purpose.

in a secondhand shop i found four great books, Three about dutch photographers (published in 1944-1949) and one book about frech women by george simenon. (published in 1959) €2,50 each!

The book in the left corner below is Simenon's.

Pictures you see are made by: (from up- downwards)

Miek Douw, Emmy Andriesse (my favourite), Steef Zoetermeer (the glass), J. Akkerman, Ber Spruit (the nightshot) and J den Boestert (the man with the paper)

Also five of my yashica coupled viewfinder camera's:

Lynx 1c 5000e, minister I, electro 35,lynx 14e, and minister III.

Great inspiration!
