Note the "Please close door for passengers' comfort." It would definitely not be very comfortable if the front door was open! :)

Took some of my old video camera's to get into some creative mood. Converted to black and wide to get a more authentic image.

The Bank Reunion: Somewhere there's footage of us all being dumb and happy.

Took these a while back, hiking on Windy Hill. It has a camera and was wicked fast, zipping high and low over otherwise inaccessible terrain and able to hover as well. Has wireless so the video is transmitted direct to the owners laptop. I want one (or 4)! We were really impressed with it and the owner driving it, until as it was landing he said "Oh sh*t!" and explained in his excitement he left the battery door open, so it blocked the camera during the whole flight and he didn't check his laptop while he was controlling it

Franzi is teaching me to improve the efficiency with which I go through the standard sequence - filming (best recording setting for the camera) - loading what I've recorded into my computers film-making software (Final Cut Pro + advice on the detail of that software) - compressing the film in readiness for streaming on the web (choice of codec, frame rate, interlace or not to interlace, etc - the stuff with which I struggle) - transfer of compressed film to converter (MPEG Streamclip). This is all about technical quality, not the quality of my filming. It's like being taught about ink, pens and paper when you want to write well. But I'm continuing tutorials with Franziska who is a video journalist, and a talented film-maker, to learn more about the art.

Here's an example of a test film she made using my camera, software and laptop. There's no sound: www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWSJVOwqyII

One of the next things I'll be learning is how to do sound transitions to match image transitions. Until now I have just made my transitions with film and sound locked.

I was quite jealous of this Japanese man's sweet dual-camera setup. He often stuck it up high in the air to no doubt get great high angle shots.

- When I visited a Hong Kong shopping centre, I accidentally stumbled upon some kind of promotional press event. This is a working photographers and videographers in action moment.

Racing Parking Party

I have never seen such an enourmous crowd at a Tyseley open day before. Trying to get a shot with the two locomotives in view and not have one of the crowd in view was nearly impossible. LNER A4 class No. 4464 Bittern and Great Western castle class No. 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe make a spectacular sight and sound running up and down the yard.

This woman was a doll... just trust me on this one.

From left to right: Kodak Playsport ZX3, Kodak Playtouch Zi10, Flip MinoHD

First of all, I needed to replace my 4GB Flip MinoHD (1st gen) as it's inadequate for my needs as a dash-cam. 1h recording time is not enough, and it shuts down when too hot. - Sold

So I purchased the Kodak Playtouch Zi10 off Dell.ca as it was on a sale. I am very unimpressed with this camera. The touchscreen and UI is nice, but video quality is rather horrid. At 720p, the video looks like upscaled and over-sharpened 480p. Audio quality is also subpar. Though the camera worked fine indoors. - Returned to Dell.

The same day I received the Zi10 I purchased the Zx3 locally as it was coincidentally on a sale. It has much better video quality for my needs, and decent audio, though it's not as good as the Flip IMO. - Returned and replaced by a GoPro Hero 960
