My friend Jeff shot this video, it is quite interesting

This was a group of three elk, the largest with substantial antlers. There was also a small one, perhaps this was a family unit. I don't know much about elk. We were able to quietly observed these elk for about one minute and then they spooked and took off. Given that there were bow hunters in the area, that is a good survival strategy on their part. The picture is quite poor, the elk are only visible at high resolution.

We heard bugling of elk all night as we camped near Fish Lake.

Day 1. Weekend PCT Section I.1 Trip from White Pass to Chinook Pass with Jeff and Chad. A nice 28-29 mile backpacking trip, great weather the first day, not so great the second day.

My first video - taken on the Lumix GH1 - a couple of short clips of Hexham in the snow edited with iMovie 11 - Hollywood had better watch out !

Starring - Bloke with a letter and Woman with fancy wellies and a dog.

Wardrobe by Argos - self assembly

Another video, this one off tripod and a bit woozy at times but it's HD so better/worse than the first.

Essentially it's a "we were here" slice of time that captures the scene in a different way (more completely?) than a still does, I think.

June 16th, 2013 - 44 Quiet Nights, Day 18 - Massacre Rocks State Park to Twin Falls, Idaho. It was, in a good way, a day of much water.

Rounding out the day of much water: Shoshone Falls.

Since we don't get there very often, I took way too many photos. Since I'm not too good at culling, I'm also posted too many of the ones I took. Different angles, different light as the sun eventually started to break through, different takes with minor variations. Please excuse the excess :^)

This video is about how a Finnish old Sauna looks inside. There are two ovens, one for the heating of water and the other for the heating of the stones.

There you put water and it becomes a lot of hot steam on the bathers.

In this Sauna from 1949`s there is a funny bench , like a table!

Wood is taken from a woodshed which you can see through the window.

Warming up a Finnish Sauna is like philosophy, you do many things like also carry the water to sauna. And you think all the time the silent process in a quiet landscape.

I will vote with my account and move my portfolio off flickr to avoid videos... nothing against them, but flickr is a photo site.

I've received a number of requests to join groups celebrating and protesting video as a new type on Flickr. Unlike the privacy/censorship issue that split the Flickr community a year ago, I think accepting video will be easier. If you have no care for video, or no talent in producing it, then you can simply ignore and avoid it. Its been 30 years since I studied video, and I'm very rusty in producing it. But it does have its strengths over the still image.

Here's my question to you - if you know me through my stills and 365's - how does seeing me in this short 8sec video change how you feel you know me? Let the comments begin : )

by the way, don't be expecting a lot of video from me - I love the still image.

I shot this video of two trawlers sucking a net full of adult menhaden on board just off Scarborough Beach in southern Maine. Menhaden are a critical component of the ocean food chain and there is concern that their stocks are being depleted.

Loud enough to raise the devil , and cute enough to make him say aaah ...

just a little taste of that noon-sunday-after-a-long-night bliss

I had my camera on the wrong setting, hence the terrible quality. I still thought it was worth including because, shortly after this video was taken the bear broke free and rampaged through the town centre. It mauled several shoppers before being shot dead by police.
