The Masonic Temple is located in downtown Minneapolis, MN.

Built in 1888, it is an outstanding example of Richardsonian Romanesque. The massive eight-story building was designed by Long and Kees, a noted local firm.

The firm was also responsible for some of Minneapolis’ finest historic buildings: City Hall, the Lumber Exchange, and the Flour Exchange. All (including the Masonic Temple) are on the National Register of Historic Places.

It is now the home of the Hennepin Center for the Arts.

The Carter House, an exact replica of a San Francisco Victorian that was destroyed in the 1906 quake. Built from plans for the original house that were found in a Eureka antique shop. See www.carterhouse.com/History.html

I saw this home in Savannah, Georgia's Victorian Historic District in July 1985.

This is an Eastlake / Stick Style home.

Also located behind the Woodruff-Fontain house, this delightful playhouse was built in the 1890s by J. V. Handwerker for his children. This quaint little building has been used as a playhouse, an office and even as a beauty parlor.

A Victorian home in the Concord, North Carolina.

The home is located in the North Union Street Historic District. The district contains fine examples of Late Victorian homes.

Night Lights make Edinburgh's great architecture even more visible.

I drove Colorado's 'million dollar highway' from Durango to Silverson and Ouary in August 1981.

Being a flat-lander, the highway was very scary. A couple of times I wanted to turn around and go back. Fortunately, I didn't.

It was worth the drive up!

Silverton, Colorado in August 1981.

In 2017, the town had a population of 650.

Leadenhall Market is a covered market in London, located on Gracechurch Street but with vehicular access also available via Whittington Avenue to the north and Lime Street to the south and east, and additional pedestrian access via a number of narrow passageways.

The market dates from the 14th century. It is typically open weekdays from 10 am until 6 pm, and primarily sells fresh food; among the vendors there are cheesemongers, butchersand florists. Originally a meat, game andpoultry market, it stands on what was the centre of Roman London

This house is located N. Washington and E. Oliver streets. The first floor porch of this impressive house features corinthian columns while the smaller porches on the second floor have ionic columns. Several corinthian column capitals appear to be undergoing restoration.

I saw this attractive Victorian townhouse with a corner tower near downtown Wilmington, Delaware.

It's interesting the way the corner tower is supported by a column.

I bet you get a great view up both streets from the tower windows.

Ferndale is a very attractive town, located in northwest California. It is full of beautifully restored Victorian homes and businesses.

I saw this lovely Victorian home decorated for Christmas 2016.

It was located in Boadsburg, PA.

San Francisco's famous 'Postcard Row.' You've seen this row of Queen Anne homes many times.

I'm standing in front of a few of the houses.

This is behind the Cutting Victorian Mansion in North Adams, MA. I think the carriage house is actually for sale. I love the simple architecture of this building! I would have got a clearer shot if I had gone on the property but I took it from the library property next door so some trees were in the way.

Sunday morning at a deserted Leadenhall Market.

Nearest the camera we have The Grade Apartments originally The Grade Hotel constructed in the year 1867, now a GRADE 11 listed building which has a collection of unique loft style apartments.

These mosaic tiles on the floor of the Turkish Baths in Harrogate were laid by Italian craftsmen in the latter part of the 19th century. The craftsmen worked, dined and slept in the rooms where they laid tiles, forbidding anyone else to enter while they peformed their craft.

Clock and cast iron roof above the Grand Avenue of Smithfield Market (const. 1866-1868; Sir Horace Jones, arch.)

The 19th century chapel of St John's College, Cambridge, was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott, though the tower was added afterwards. The college was founded in 1511 by Lady Margaret Beaufort, the mother of King Henry VII, and is the second largest of the colleges that make up Cambridge University.

This rank of buildings in Victoria Street probably owes its survival to the mid-1970s change of fashion in favour of "conservation" and against brutalist architecture and wholesale redevelopment. By the mid-70s all these buildings were badly decayed and the few that were occupied were held on short-term leases. In the normal run of things it would have been only a matter of time before they came down. Then came the change. All through the late 70s and 80s there were endless arguments about what should be done with them. The 3-bay group closest to the camera was already condemned at the time of this photograph, Sunday 10th July 1977. 19th century workshops at the rear of the next buildings were demolished without consent in 1980. Meanwhile the remainder continued to deteriorate. Their fate was eventually linked to that of the 18th century terrace around the corner in Bath Street which, in 1987 was the subject of a planning enquiry. A further enquiry in 1989 listed all these buildings, too late for the condemned group on the corner of Counterslip, which had already been demolished. In 1990 there was an appeal against the listing. Continued next photo...

Milner's Tower at Bradda Head near Port Erin. It is said to follow the form of the barrel of a lock in tribute to local benefactor and Birmingham safe manufacturer, William Milner. Built in 1871, financed by public subscription. Can be seen on an Isle of Man 50p coin dated 2015.

31 March 14. Waverley Station in Edinburgh has recently been modernised. I am very pleased that the waiting room has been left as it was, especially the beautiful roof light.

Western Addition district, Japantown, San Francisco

Modernization of Japantown SF cost our city this fine old Victorian era building as many similar structures were lost during the Redevelopment era. In this photograph, the Cleveland Wrecking Co. was attempting to salvage the 'witches hat' from the top of the building.
