The Queensboro Bridge, officially named the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge, is a cantilever bridge over the East River in New York City.
The NYATCW was in operation at what was then known as No. 401 Vernon Avenue in Long Island City, from 1886 until 1968. Of the forty-eight major terra cotta manufacturers in the United States, it was the only such plant situated in New York City. The NYATCW supplied architectural terra cotta for projects throughout the United States and Canada. Materials supplied from this location were used in constructing more than 2,000 buildings. Among the company’s most prominent contracts included Carnegie Hall and the Ansonia Hotel. Terra cotta became popular as a building material in the United States beginning in the 1870s and enjoyed a long tenure due to its flexibility, versatility, and durability.

Patrick Smith is a versatile and in-demand sax player. I've probably seen him with more bands than anyone else. At the Old Mill, he was in the band with Queen Pepper. It turned out to be quite a party. They started at midnight and were still going strong, when I left around 1:00 AM.
First I have seen Patrick playing in the parks during the Pandemania, but since then, he is well established, playing in the best Toronto jazz clubs. Patrick is frequent guest in New York City clubs. He played in several jazz festivals in North America and Europe. He teaches sax, but also still learns in workshops with veteran players in Toronto (Mike Murley, Kelly Jefferson) and NYC (Mark Shim). This year UNISON fundraising was again a success. Not sure about the financial side, but if you have a choice of 22 top Toronto's jazz bands (in 10 party rooms of the Old Mil), the entertainment was quarantined.
The Stanley Cup hockey playoffs left him a bit of an outsider in last few days, as he is an Ottawa (his home town) Senators fan and they are playing with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leafs prevailed and all is good in the music scene.;-)

What a versatile plant. I was aware that the Hibiscus can be used for tea. However, dried Hibiscus is edible, can be used as a candy and as a garnish.
When reading more about this plant, Wikipedia stated, "Contrary to popular assumptions that the flowers or petals are what is being eaten, it is the calyces." If you want clarification, just check out the link below.

The garden's peak flowering period is azalea season, January to March. The hundreds of remaining azaleas have a "rolling bloom" and top out with about 50% to 60% of the plants blooming simultaneously. A recent survey documented 18 different types of azaleas. The season is variable based on weather conditions.

The original image, an apple on a plain, brown background, has been around since 2011. It was part of some long ago photo challenge with several Flickr friends. I see it periodically and think, "humm," but it goes not further than that. Recently I ran across it again and went, "humm."
However, this time, this.
I could make up reasons - creative, artistic, emotional - for how this image came to be, but I would be doing just that; making things up. To satisfy...whatever? I'd rather not.
I love gulls. They're so brazen, athletic and amusing. An awkward looking pose here, but just normal versatile gull behavior. A pleasure to watch at Treasure Island Beach, Laguna Beach, California.

Overnight, the very versatile flickr app that I have used for years has been completely reworked from the bottom up. I don't believe we were given any notice and as typical today, the new app doesn't come with a manual in the "box"! So you have to explore it (Explore is now called something else by the way) and figure out how to use it all over again. As an oldie, I hate that! Goodness, even the upload link has disappeared and at first, I thought well, that's that! But I found my way in the magic door. I also notice that the new app will probably be, once I get used to it more versatile in following the full version (I haven't dared look yet to see if it has changed - whoa guys, one thing at a time. I thought these lovely fruit salad mixes we found in the city Reddacliff Place (Queen Street Mall) Markets in Brisbane last week kind of reminded me of the mix I found when I opened flickr this morning. I hope in the end, it all tastes as good! Tags don't seem to be working, try as I might!
