With a temperature of only 44 degrees on a recent morning, the sun comes up through a gray veil of fog rising from Mogadore Reservoir.

Viewed from the west and looking eastward toward Yosemite Valley, behind the hill to the left.

The original frame was a much wider angle. 50mp usually feels like too much, but here it sure helped cut a boring shot into an interesting one.

The Eastern Veil nebula (also known as Caldwell 33) is a cloud of heated and ionized gas and dust in the constellation of Cygnus and is located at around 1470 light-years from Earth. It is part of the Cygnus Loop which is a faint supernova remnant that exploded aproximately 7000 years ago. From the moment the source star exploded and until now, the Cygnus Loop supernova remnant expanded to a diameter of roughly 3° on the sky (that almost 6 full moons). The red hues in this image are from ionized hydrogen content of gas clouds that emit light in the H-alpha wavelength, while the cyan hues are from oxygen ions.

This is a bi-color image (Ha and OIII) of the Witch's Broom Nebula a.k.a. Western Veil Nebula.

I wanted this to be an HSO image, but my laptop ran out of battery after only two SII frames. So I decided to make this a bicolor.

Hello Flickr Friends!!!!

How are you all doing? I trust that all is well.

Rob and I have been really enjoying married life so far. We've been hitched for 28 days now and its been all that I imagined it would be.

Waking up next to him every morning, going home with him every evening, cooking, cleaning, having unlimited time with each other... its a dream come true! Lol. I did a blog post on the wedding. Check it out. With pictures too: melissadionne.wordpress.com/2012/09/03/the-wedding-story/

This photo was taken in the kitchen of our new apartment.

Delicate in appearance, these filaments of shocked, glowing gas, draped in planet Earth's sky toward the constellation of Cygnus, make up the Veil Nebula. The nebula is a large supernova remnant, an expanding cloud born of the death explosion of a massive star. Light from the original supernova explosion likely reached Earth over 5,000 years ago

This is my friend Kate. She is currently in a competition to be the next Miss Universe New Zealand and then hopefully overall Miss Universe. Kate is one of the most driven people I know. She is constantly fund raising for charities and working in mens shelters. She seems to be doing bake sales every weekend. On top of this she has a law degree and a vigorous fitness regime its awe inspiring. I don't know how she does it. I'm just glad she likes my photography. On this day we went down to the local bulk buy savings store and grabbed a few meters of the blue material draped around her just as an artistic idea. Looks pretty cool aye. We ate fish n chips for lunch in the sun. What a bliss day. Good luck Kate. I hope you win your competition xxx.

LE 17'' Wedding Rapunzel has been freed of all the ties holding her to the diorama. She is still tied to the plastic spacer, and is on the doll stand, next to the now empty diorama.

The Disney Store's Limited Edition 17'' Tangled Ever After Rapunzel Wedding Doll was available for pre-order online and instore on February 21, 2012. This doll was pre-ordered instore on February 21, and was picked up at my local Disney Store on March 28, 2012. She is #1081 out of an edition of 8000.

She is a 17'' doll with an elaborate wedding gown and veil, and a jeweled crown. The gown has an ivory satin bodice with gold sun and floral embroidery, and white lace and gold trim. The skirt is silver satin with an ivory printed sun and floral pattern and gold trim, and bedecked with faux pearls. There is a full underskirt of purple satin with a gold printed sun and floral pattern, with white lace on the bottom. The veil is oversized and is two layered white tulle, with a softer, thinner layer underneath a stiffer coarser layer with a magnificient solar and floral glittering gold pattern.

She is a fully articulated doll, including poseable hands. She has a painted gold ring on the ring finger of her left hand. Her head mold and face painting are the same as the previous blonde haired LE 17'' Rapunzel from the Disney Store. However, her hair is short and brown, as she wore for her wedding in Tangled Ever After, and not long and blonde as she was until near the end of the first Tangled movie. Her eyelashes are rooted, but come in two lengths. This doll has the shorter length, straight eyelashes, that are similar to those depicted in the promo images. Other dolls in this same release have very long curvy lashes that are similar, but not quite as long, as the blonde long haired 17'' LE Rapunzel.

As with the other Disney Store 17'' Limited Edition dolls, Wedding Rapunzel comes in a beautiful and sturdy plastic and cardboard box within a box.

Once I fully debox her, I will find what other features the doll has, that are hidden by the way she is posed in the box.

The Veil Nebula, aka Cygnus Loop, the remnant of a long ago supernova explosion. A composite of 22 frames 90 sec. each, f/7.1, ISO 6400, Nikon D800, modified for sensitivity to hydrogen light, tracked with an iOptron CEM25P mount. Processed in Lightroom and combined in Starry Sky Stacker.

The early afternoon light poured into the Yosemite Valley, similar to the way Bridalveil Creek tossed itself over the ledge hundreds of feet above. Puffs of air swirled near the high canyon rim lifting the falling water from itâs free-fall state, moving it sideways, and in some cases, back up over the brink. I steadied my lens on a small patch of moss growing near the upper edge of the rock. With a little patience, I waited for the veil, swinging left and right in the wind, to create a contour along the beautiful face of granite.

My second offering from the recent winter storm here in the Pacific Northwest. It was pretty magical along Gorton Creek that day. It was dumping heavily, adding to the roughly 16 inches of snow on the ground. Large veils of snow were unleashed from the trees, periodically raining down creating this fantastic atmosphere. A bit of fog even worked its way up the creek. After experiencing all of those atmospherics I knew processing this image with a high key feel would work perfectly. Pretty happy with the results.

Candid eye contact street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. Just after I clicked the shutter she screeched at me, "What did you take my photo for?" and, while walking on, I simply replied with 'why do you think'. With a Minnie Mouse ear and bow combined with a white wedding veil, how could I not photograph this? Enjoy!

This image represents the western part of the supernova remnant. I have taken this image under not completetly darkened skies. First I took the Ha images, then after 2:00 am (moon was set), I took the OIII data.

For blending channels, I used "Pixelmath" in Pixinsight. This is the "classical" HOO image. H-alpha to red only and OIII to green and blue. The red is coming out best this way, I think. When I take e.g. 30% ha in the green, the red is more orange like.

I also made an artificial luminance image and added the ha channel to the OIII channel. After that, I did my common processing steps (DBE, Deconvolution, Morphological Transformation, HDR,Unsharp mask...).

I am qute happy with the data I have captured in just 3 hours.
