The Close Combat Armoured Vehicle (CCAV - "cee-cav") is the ATUV's bigger badder brother. Better armoured and sporting a 30mm auto cannon the CCAVs is well equipped for close combat situations, especially in urban areas.

No Optare Spectra's today but what a superb line up to greet me on my visit to Square Peg Travel of Garforth's Harrogate layover location.

Seen lined up in mega OCD style we have three new to Northumbria East Lancs Citizen bodied Scania's ( Still with their original DP seats ) N383OTY,N384OTY & N385OTY are seen lined up in perfect symetry and number order.

Perfection......

Incidentally they were aquired initially by Geldards Coaches of Leeds whose livery they retain before passing to Square Peg Travel.

Also having travelled on these vehicles across Northumberland and I can tell you they are mighty fine motors...... or aleast were........ LOL

The first Royal Navy Wildcat Attack Helicopter undertakes its maiden flight at AgustaWestland in Yeovil, Somerset.

The Wildcat has a more powerful engine allowing it to be flown in extreme conditions all year round. It is also equipped with a more robust fuselage, a high tech interactive display and a new radar system that provides 360 degree surveillance.

Wildcat HMA Mk2 will carry Sting Ray torpedoes, a door-mounted 0.5 inch heavy machine gun and new light and heavy variants of the Future Anti-Surface Guided Weapon Missiles.

Expected to perform a range of tasks once in-service, the Maritime Wildcat Attack Helicopter will be used in anti-surface warfare, force protection and counter-piracy. It will also be able to carry out an anti-submarine role.

The 220a was succeeded in March 1956 by the 220S, which was externally almost identical, but had an upgraded version of the 2.2L inline-six (100 PS (74 kW; 99 hp), later 106 PS (78 kW; 105 hp)), due to the use of twin-carburettors.

Visually, the 220S featured a new one piece front bumper, instead of the 3-piece bumper used on the 220a. Also, the twin chrome and rubber strips running under the doors of the 220a were replaced with solid chrome strips. The most obvious difference is the addition of a chrome strip running along the front fenders and doors of the 220S.

The 220S was available with a 4-speed column shift manual transmission, with an optional Hydrak automatic clutch. This made use of small microswitches on the gear selector that automatically disengaged the clutch when the driver changed gears. Many cars have subsequently been converted to use a standard clutch, due to the high maintenece costs of continuing to use the Hydrak clutch.

Also introduced with the 220S was the W105 219, which from the a-pillar forward was essentially a single-carburettor 220a, but rearward from the a-pillar it used the shorter body of the W120/W121 180/190 models.

In July 1956 a Cabriolet (two doors, four seats) joined the line-up, and in October 1956 a Coupé version followed suit. Some Cabriolets were finished with folding rear seats to accommodate additional luggage.

Until October 1959, 55,279 220S saloons and 3,429 Cabriolets and Coupés were built.

The fuel-injected 220SE versions that officially bore the model code W128 were introduced in October 1958 and carried on until November 1960

Whitehall Junctions Leeds & Class 333 emu 333001 approaches with a train from Skipton, taken from Black 5 45305 en route to Carnforth. We were crossing over onto the Down Main and were about to stop at the red light on the left that protects the Wakefield Westgate line branching up from Whitehall Junction. We were only held for a few minutes and were quickly given a clear road to Shipley.

The fine stone viaduct on the right is the only remaining section of the original line to Wakefield Westgate opened in 1854 which terminated at the joint London and North Western Railway, Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway, Great Northern Railway and North Eastern Railway Leeds Central station. The station was closed in 1967 as were Holbeck Low Level station on the line to Shipley & Holbeck High Level situated on the demolished section of viaduct directly over the Midland route.

Sixteen three-car British Rail Class 333 electric multiple units, Spanish built by Siemens and CAF, were introduced in 2000 by Northern Spirit then operated by Arriva Trains Northern and now by Northern Rail. They replaced the Class 308 vehicles that served the Wharfedale and Airedale lines in the West Riding of Yorkshire (between Leeds, Bradford Forster Square, Ilkley and Skipton). They are based at Neville Hill depot in Leeds and painted in the livery of West Yorkshire Metro, the local passenger transport executive.

Known internally as Project Carla the first Capri Mk.III's became available in March 1978. The heavy face lift included the trade mark quad head lights a black slatted grille and a rear spoiler. The car had improved aerodynamics improving both performance and economy.

The S range being the more sporty of the options, on release the performance car in the range was the 3.ltr. S ahead of the softer sprung 3.0ltr. Ghia

The 3.0 ltr was dropped in 1981 in favour on the more powerful and economical 2.8ltr. injection model

After a late start from Motherwell, the 1Z89 ended up getting into more trouble near Carlisle, and was rescued by 57007 & 57010 with 47818 for ETH. Imagine the noise if they were all 47s... still a good sight, shame about the sound. 11/03/13
