New building facade: The Dutch Vault

After countless juxtapositions it has become clear to me that these can be found everywhere. For the unsuspecting audience, the complicated juxtapositions are often too difficult to read, while the simple ones are too easy for the attentive observer.
Now it's time for something different, a subject that has always fascinated me. Surprising compositions in the everyday, a special view of buildings, lines made abstract. I hope the intention comes across. The name of the new series is Lines and planes.
This curious building suggests depth that, on closer inspection, is based on optical illusion. From a distance, this hall is a real eye-catcher. It is the new warehouse and distribution center of the Dutch "Koninklijke Nederlandse Munt" in Houten. The KNM produces not only Dutch coins but also delivers coins to over 70 countries worldwide.
Designed by Wastiau & co architects from Belgium, the warehouse looks like a massive gold brick. The golden color on the outside was specially made to match the colours of the Euro coins.

Ámsterdam cuenta con casi 1.300 puentes elevados sobre sus canales y vías navegables. Por la noche, los puentes del centro están iluminados con hileras de luces, que hacen de un paseo en barco al anochecer una mágica experiencia. Un de las vistas más bellas es la del Reguhiersgracht, cruzado por siete puentes seguidos.

I just like this railway station ... I only pass through though on my way to elsewhere ... and one day I will stay longer and discover the town ..
Tout simplement j'aime cette gare ... je suis pourtant toujours de passage.... et un jour je resterai plus longtemps pour découvrir un peu cette ville.

COLLEGIATA DI SANTA MARIA ASSUNTA.
L'origine presunta della chiesa di S.Maria è, secondo il Campi, il 758. Dopo il terremoto del 1117 essa fu ricostruita e consacrata nel 1122.
L’edificio presenta all’interno una piccola cappella, con un abside su cui si aprono tre monofore: è la ricostruzione, accanto al gruppo absidale maggiore, dell’antico battistero, coevo alla chiesa primitiva (secoli VII-VIII).
Sono visibili le due cappelle di Santa Caterina d’Alessandria, costruita nel 1455 e rivestita di affreschi con scene della passione, della B. V. e di S. Caterina e di San Giuseppe, edificata nel 1630, quale ex voto per la fine della pestilenza.

The 13th Nave of Wells, my favorite Cathedral and taken with the Sigma wide 10-20 lens for added wow. This is taken from immediately beneath the Crossing tower, the scissor arch framing the view.
In 1909 werd begonnen met de bouw van klooster St Jozefsheim. Toen het complex in 1913 gereed was bestond het uit een kantoor, een kerk, een school en 2 gebouwen waar de broeders en andere inwonenden ondergebracht werden De broeders van de Sint Franciscus Orde namen het klooster in 1913 in gebruik. Er leefden zo'n 600 mensen, voornamelijk gehandicapte kinderen.
Al in 1937 vertrokken de broeders weer uit het klooster, voornamelijk vanwege het feit dat het Nazi regime in opmars was. In 1939 werd het klooster een opvanghuis voor kinderen die geestelijk of lichamelijk gehandicapt waren. Een nieuwe wet was aangenomen waarin stond dat elk gehandicapt kind geregistreerd moest worden. Het klooster kreeg toen de naam Waldniel Hostert. Op 1 oktober kreeg Adolf Hitler de macht en gebruikte Waldniel Hostert als euthanasiecentrum. Gehandicapte mensen, zowel kinderen als volwassenen werden hier ondergebracht aangezien er voor hen geen plaats was in het Nieuwe Rijk van Hitler. Bekend is dat tussen 1939 en 1943 zeker 512 mensen gestorven zijn in Waldniel Hostert, waaronder 128 kinderen.
Pas in 1952 werd het klooster teruggegeven aan de Sint Franciscus Orde. In 1955 verkocht de Sint Franciscus Orde het klooster aan de Engelsen die het tot 1963 als militair hospitaal gebruikten. Vervolgens werd het klooster omgebouwd tot school, Kent School genaamd. Er hebben 1400 kinderen op deze school gezeten waarvan er 270 in het internaat verbleven. De andere kinderen werden per bus gehaald en gebracht. Elke dag reden er 50 bussen en er werd zelfs een busstation op het terrein gebouwd. In 1992 werd de school gesloten en staan de gebouwen te verkrotten.
