Where to go and what to photograph when the weather doesn't turn out the way you'd hoped.
The intricate vault and columns of the Glasgow University Gilbert Scott building cloisters. During my years at the university I always knew it as the 'main building', rather than the Gilbert Scott.
On my way through the gates I asked the guy in the security office if it was ok to bring a tripod. He told me it was fine but that the university would sue me if I published any photos I took. I think he was joking, but just in case I'm hoping Flickr and Facebook don't count as publishing, as my team of fancy big-city lawyers are busy with several dozen PPI claims I have on the go.
Disclaimer: any asymmetry in this shot is of course entirely the fault of the architect/builders.
I love this building. It gives you a warmth that makes you comfortable and welcomed.

"La collégiale Saint-Martin, appelée fréquemment « cathédrale Saint-Martin de Colmar », est l'édifice religieux le plus important de la ville de Colmar, en Alsace, et l'une des plus grandes églises gothiques du Haut-Rhin.
The Église Saint-Martin (St. Martin church) is the main church and principal Gothic monument of Colmar, Haut-Rhin, France. Because of its past as a collegiate church, is also known all Collégiale Saint-Martin, and because of its large dimensions, as Cathédrale Saint-Martin, although Colmar had never been the seat of a bishopric.
Die häufig Martinsmünster genannte, römisch-katholische (ehemalige) Stiftskirche Sankt-Martin (Collégiale Saint-Martin) ist der beherrschende Sakralbau der Stadt Colmar im Elsass und eines der bedeutenden gotischen Bauwerke im Haut-Rhin. Heute dient sie als Pfarrkirche (franz. église paroissiale). Nach der Französischen Revolution war sie kurzzeitig Kathedrale eines Bistums und wird manchmal noch als „Cathédrale Saint-Martin“ bezeichnet. Der jetzige Bau wurde 1234 bis 1365 errichtet, die auffällige Bekrönung des Glockenturms wurde nach einem Dachstuhlbrand 1572 im Renaissancestil aufgesetzt."

Era el antiguo hospital de San Rafael y, en el 82 se le realizó una reforma que se llevó bastantes premios, y entre las que destacan el cierre del patio con una gran cúpula acristalada, cosa que... teniendo en cuenta que aquí casi no llueve, fue una idea genial!!!! je
Junto al parlamento hay una maravillosa fachada que merece la pena que veáis... Está hecha por los alumnos de la escuela taller del Ayuntamiento, y los dibujos, basados en personajes del libro "Sotileza" de José María de Pereda, fueron ideados por el genial dibujante santanderino José Ramón Sánchez... que, si no lo conocéis, os aseguro que merece la pena...
Por supuesto las fotos de dentro del Parlamento son robadas, otro lugar en el que está prohibido hacer fotos... ufffffffff...

La iglesia de Santa María de los Reyes de Laguardia, en Álava, es uno de los mejores templos góticos de España gracias a su portada. La iglesia fue probablemente un monasterio templario. Tiene una admirable fachada gótica. Su construcción se terminó a fines del siglo XIV, aunque su policromía es del siglo XVII. Realizada en piedra, está formada por un arco gótico muy apuntado que forma cinco arquivoltas, todas ellas ricamente decoradas. Es uno de los pocos pórticos policromados que se conservan en España.

Nürnberg - Lorenzkirche
In der Nürnberger Lorenz-Kirche steht das von Adam Kraft 1493–1496 geschaffene Sakramentshäuschen (gestiftet von Hans Imhoff d. Ä.), ein 18,70 Meter hohes Tabernakel aus Sandstein, bestehend aus einer begehbaren Umgangsbühne und einer daraus emporwachsenden, spitz zulaufenden, doch zur Decke hin eingerollten Fiale, die vielfältig fein durchbrochen ist. Gestützt wird der Aufbau von den Rücken dreier hockender Figuren in drei verschiedenen Lebensaltern, deren mittlere, ausgestattet mit Steinmetzwerkzeug, wohl den Künstler selbst darstellt.
