I put down a composite low maintainance decking on this one as it was a high taffic area and very exposed to weather. Those posts you saw me struggling with in the previous photo were the

support for some old tractor seats and there is an inflatable screen so

they can do outdoor Karoake and screen movies.

I'm not making up the thing about outdoor Karaoke either !

Who knew when we started this project what a huge impact this would have on their lives. I actually got a real kick out of a recent email from Don, they couldn't have been nicer;

" Mark, Kara and I still love our backyard, in fact we were so

inspired that we have changed our ways and have got ourselves into shape to enjoy it even more. Kara

has lost 40lbs, and I have lost 50lbs."

Who needs Jenny Craig when you can hire makerMark right ? Awesome pool and yard and a new you as well!!

The initial design brief called for struts or brackets to support the shelves. I felt this was ungainly and detracted from the overall look. I then custom fabricated some bayonet style fittings so the shelves are fully floating and attached to the studs for structural integrity, the clients were over the moon with the result.

These clients worked at home and sorely needed an organized space. Try ordering this at Officeworks !!

This is a lot harder than it looks.

Normally with tile or brick work, one can easily work off a string or chalk llne to get even courses. However these brick tiles were so 'artisan' that no 2 were the same in any dimension, width, breadth or length meaning a lot of adjusting by eye was needed to give appearance of uniformity. Selecting the right adhesive with a decent set time was a key factor here.

Installed this and built in desks for downtown loft workspaces.

Simple semi industrial design for light storage.

i make these to order from a range of materials and finishes.

Now its looks like a Balinese style indoor/outdoor space. Very relaxing, comfortable, practical and a source of pride for the new owners. They have effectively doubled the familys living space by upgrading this outdoor area.

Here's me pondering the mysteries of how dirt can get harder than concrete !!

I had a power auger but even it kept sticking. Nonetheless all the subframe got mounted to concrete piers after we hand dug the holes, ugh !!

came out pretty well, it looks like real brick even close up. The shelves now have a clean look without cumbersome brackets. This also frees up more space between the shelves.

The existing brick stucco fence staggered down from a 5ft to a 3 ft fence running the full length of the property till the front of the house and graduates to an 8 ft T & G fence where it meets at property front.

As it stood this 'fence' was little more than a demarcation between properties. It offerred no privacy OR secuity for either neighbor.
