Stout-hearted and committed, the valiant spotters and counters search the skies, the water and the shores for incoming birds. They, and other counters around the country, spend countless hours and days collecting important information (FACTS) that can be used to learn about bird populations and their migratory patterns.
This picture was taken at Whitefish Point, near Paradise, Upper Peninsula, Michigan.
On my way to see the White Pelican in Waterloo (previous photo) I made a detour and ended up spending some time by the banks of Grand River. It was a beautiful quiet morning. I was enjoying the sound of the flowing river and the cooing of Yellow-billed Cuckoos from the forest behind when I suddenly saw a pair of adult Bald Eagle flying down the river. One kept its level flight; however, the other started coming down with an Eastern Kingbird in tow. The eagle snapped a fledgling that fell in the river and as it turned around to head back the Kingbird made a valiant effort to free the fledgling with no avail. David lost this battle with Goliath. If you zoom in you would see the fledgling in eagle's left talon. One can also see the red crown on the Kingbird which is concealed most of the time except when they are agitated. It is natural to feel sad about the fledgling; however its fate was sealed when it fell in water, the eagle simply took advantage of the situation. Brantford, Ontario

This tiny Sunflower blossomed in spite of temperatures being below freezing. What a determined little flower!
This particular Valiant dropped the UK's first thermo-nuclear weapon. this picture at RAF Marham, (Scanned) dates from 1978-9. The aircraft is now in the RAF Museum at Cosford.

In a car like this, that looked like Batman's car, I learned to drive in 1962 when I was 11 - The car was an Argentine modification made by Chrysler-Fevre of the American Plymouth Valiant and Lancer.
This little tree was growing out of a seam in the siding of McNally's Steakhouse in Fairview on the Kern River.
Having recently had one ned re painted class 50 locomotive 50015 Valiant is seen in the shed at Baron Street on the East Lancashire Railway, October 2022
Barely avoiding disaster, 68007 'Valiant' appears from just about the only cloud that blotted the sun in the 30 minutes I spent in the Lune Gorge! The train is 4S44 Daventry - Coatbridge. The best looking 68 in the fleet is rumoured to be losing it's unique all over blue livery, so get it while you can.
