Our small company Genanvendt (means recycled/upcycled in Danish) makes upcycled design and art of recycled material. This is a raw table lamp made only of parts from the old, famous, Danish vacuum cleaner Nilfisk.
This is displayed in a lovely little specialist dolls' house shop, "The Purple Parrot" in Chipping Sodbury, S. Gloucestershire.

Not the prettiest photo I've ever taken, but Friday is my "clean the house" day. I was planning on washing the kitchen floor after I vacuumed it, but the power head wasn't picking up much, so I checked it out and discovered it was totally covered in Shizandra's hair. So, I took it apart and cleaned it. I save myself a small fortune by doing this myself. Miele Vacuum power heads are very good and easy to clean! I have since put it back together, vacuumed and washed the kitchen floor. I like to spend my weekends with Stu, so that's why I do my house work on Fridays.

Boy can the little red guy rock. Allowing buskers to perform legally and safely on underground stations was one of the best decisions TfL ever made. Amongst my other favourite buskers is the chap with a synthesiser at South Kensington in the Underground corridor from the station to the museums - when he plays the "Chariots of Fire theme I swear the crowd begins to break into a trot. Supporting your local busker is a fine way of fostering musical talent because as the old quote goes - "How do I get to Carnegie Hall from here - Practice, lady, lots of practice." Malcolm Gladwell in his book, " Outliers the Story of Success" said “Practice isn't the thing you do once you're good. It's the thing you do that makes you good.” Many talented people get to hone their skills and accumulate experience hours by beginning as a busker - Hayley Westonra for one. Henry is alleged to have performed the opening riff on Gerry Rafferty's world wide hit "Baker Street" but when I asked him he refused either to confirm or deny that this was true - he just kept playing his saxophone. However later when asked why he became a musician he nodded at his guitar stumming backing person and said, "Before we linked up, I felt, how can I put this? - Something of a vacuum in my life."

I'm attempting to hoover up all that dust you can see on the laminate in the hall using the smooth floor setting which pushes the dust away from the hoover like that's helpful or something and needless to say this isn't the highlight of my day.

I went to Tesco's this morning, to get some shopping. I expected the traffic to be really busy, but it was a very normal level - a bit quieter than usual, if anything! It was pretty busy in the supermarket, but I just plodded slowly around checking things off my list (an actual paper list, attached to a clip-board, not my usual iPhone Notability checklist). When I'd had enough, and the trolley was pretty full, I decided to head for home, and return on Monday for the frozen stuff and later-dated items.
After lunch (and a nap for Mike), we went over to Coln to do the cleaning again. I just did the carpet, not inside all the pews, as I didn't have enough energy, and the carpet is the main thing really. Mike helped by scraping the fallen candle wax off the carpet! I also let him have a go with Henry, but I couldn't cope with his 'style' of vacuuming, so had to take over again - control-freakery to the fore again ;-)
Oh, and I had a phone call this morning from someone letting me know I'd got one of the service times wrong in the magazine. I was glad he rang, and indeed, I put in the magazine to let me now of any errors, and he wasn't being difficult about it. As long as I don't do too many errors like that, I'll be happy. As the old saying goes 'the person who never made a mistake never made anything' :-)
I had a slightly better night - Olive was only up five times for the toilet. She didn't want to get up until midday. Then I did the vacuuming, and a mattress topper arrived for Olive, sent by the district nurses, to avoid bed sores. I hadn't booked a lunch time carer, so couldn't go out until the tea time one came. I spent a lot of time on the phone, trying to sort out extra carers so that I can get out more. I'd love to be able to get back to Quenington for the day soon too. I miss Mike, home, the village, neighbours and friends <3

Quite a bit of running up and down the conservatory was involved in creating this multiple self-portrait! :)
Next time I try this I must remember to set the camera to manual. The three shots were not quite exactly the same brightness, which entailed more fiddling in PhotoShop to blend the three together than ought to have been necessary. Nevertheless, it was fun to do and I must try it again some time.
