One of the sights of the A40 going in to London, thanks to Tesco for this masterpiece of Art Deco extravagance. Built by Wallis, Gilbert and Partners (who else?!) in 1932, was used by the Hoover Company for manufacturing vacuum cleaners. The canteen on the side (left/west) was added in 1938, and further additions were during the years. Closed in the early 1980s, acquired by Tesco in 1989, Tesco worked with the Grade 2 listing to produce a working "museum" to 1930s architecture, and well they have done too. Two main building were demolished, and the car park is on their sites. The front offices are let by Parkinson Brown, and contain many treasures within the doors, again sympathetically restored and maintained. The building is floodlit in green until 10pm.

"I love it! It has all of the features I ever wanted in a vacuum cleaner combined into one." "So, it has a really long cord, so I can plug it in my old house where I only have a few outlets. In some of the rooms, there's only one outlet. I can plug it in and take it where ever I need to go. I can do the whole first floor plugged in, in one spot." "It has a really long hose, so I can do the same, connect it and do my entire kitchen floor with the floor attachment." "We have a big house, it's an old house, it get's dirty, we have 4 kids and they all know how to run the vacuum, move it around, it gets a ton of use and it holds up wonderfully." "I have hardwood floors with area rugs and a kitchen with no rug and I just go over the same surface with the vacuum from room to room." "It has a great little feature, that enables you that when your underneath a bed or a table, that you can lower it down to another level, so you can get that extra foot in there, make it flat, I love that." "I was just telling someone today that I bring my vacuum cleaner in to be serviced and I feel like I get a whole new vacuum cleaner back. So all the normal wear and tear, all the abnormal wear and tear, no questions asked, I feel like I have a perfectly, beautiful, new vacuum cleaner that I'm taking home with me and that's a regular service. It happens all the time!" Dave has managed to procure a new vacuum cleaner at a knock down price through my uncle. He had stuff to do at his house, so I offered to go and collect it for him. That makes me sucker number 1, and it sucker number 2.
I've photographed it in the house, as I couldn't leave it in the car. I need the space for Mike's suitcases as I'm doing an airport run tomorrow. Which involves me getting up at 4am. Ouch. Sucker number 3!

Since my old little vacuum ran away from me, I thought it was time get something that really says "I spent serious dollars on a very nerdy, yet really cool looking vacuum."
Honestly, if this little guy lasts longer than the 5 year warranty, I'll consider it money well spent.
Anyone that knows me, knows that I would rather have one quality product than a handful junky gear. The reviews I've read about Dyson products are extremely good and how can you argue with the sleek design of this bad boy?

"We love the vacuum and the service is by far, better than we've ever experienced" "Some of the features we like is the long electrical cord, it's very durable and the accessory kit - you will not get the accessory kit in any other vacuum. It's lasted and held up to service everyday. My wife uses it for her cleaning business" "The folks here are the best, by far, when you need any service" "I encourage you to come down to Handy Andy's and check out the vacuums and compare it to the things you've had before. You only have to buy once here" Mark Medeiros of New Bedford MA does a review about his Handy Andy's Quality Vac™ Vacuum Cleaner from Handy Andy's Quality Vacuum Cleaners, Sales, Service, Repairs, Parts, 1693 Acushnet Ave, New Bedford MA 02746 (508) 997-8011
