Taken from an earlier visit to wondrous Banff area. Weather wasn't cooperative, but these waters and mountains are glorious, sunshine or not.

Kongresshalle (Berlin)

This is my entry to the Space Jam contest, in the travel poster category. I was inspired by vintage travel posters, usually with a character on the foreground and a monument / landscape on the background, and mostly pastel colors.

All the elements fit into the same shot, including the “Gaia” brickbuilt text. Here is the original picture, and that’s the photography set-up.

In editing, I removed the supports and changed the background to a sky. I also removed the light reflections on the character’s head, enhanced the colors and added the “visit” and “station” text.

My calendar has a reminder today that we are flying to Nome, Alaska. That visit to the Seward Peninsula was planned many months ago before Covid-19 existed. The trip was canceled of course but I neglected to remove it from my calendar. So instead of spending some quality time with some of my favorite wildlife in person I've been going through some images of them as consolation. Found this shot of a muskox bull next to a stream.

I'm glad that the hummingbirds are increasing their visits to my garden. I have to be careful not to scare them off when photographing them.

Thanks a lot for your visits, comments, faves, invites, etc ... Always very much appreciated !

As many of you know, from previous posts of mine, there is a herd of wild horses that roam the woods and meadows all around us, approx 3000 acres overall. We own 36 of them. There are no fences, and the horses come and go as they please. We do not feed any of the wild animals, but we do offer them water with a small stock-tank I keep filled and clean. Yesterday around 12 of them came back to visit for a little grazing and a little water. The entire herd is around 20 or so, they are probably hanging somewhere nearby. This time I grabbed my camera and went out and slowly approached these two while talking sweet to them. They let me get really close. Behind me the rest of the group watched intently. There are two young ones, a little spirited and inquisitive, they approached me for a good sniff. I have a few other pics I will post soon. These guys really get around. We've seen them miles from here grazing in distant meadows.

I refer to these peaks as the Central City Peaks. Moonset from Cherry Creek State Park.

Random Goodness for Working Towards a Better World

This is one of the 3 Tree Swallow fledglings from our yard this summer. They fledged on July 12, 2016 in the one hour that we were away from home. This youngster is getting his big-boy colors and returned to our yard for one final visit. At one time, when he went to the box, I thought he was going to go in again. How nice to see him for a few minutes before he left. Taken in my back yard in Calgary, Alberta. A couple more photos are in the comment box.

Many thanks for your visit and comments. They are very much appreciated.
