This is the part of Kokra valley, just before the homonymous village centre - so, before the river gets out of mountains.
Monument Valley is a region of the Colorado Plateau characterized by a cluster of vast sandstone buttes, the largest reaching 1,000 ft (300 m) above the valley floor. It is located on the Arizona-Utah state line near the Four Corners area and lies within the range of the Navajo Nation Reservation.
Today I decided to hike from Stonethwaite village down into the valley and then make a right hand turn onto Langstrath Beck. Reason being, I know there is a small waterfall which cascades down several small plateaus. This area of the Lakes is new to me and there aren’t too many images of this waterfall on Flickr, so it gives it more of an appeal.
Upon arrival the Lone tree which sits at the top of the waterfall has lost its Autumn leaves but the fells are still glowing with rich Autumn colours.
I was hoping for a break in the clouds but unfortunatley the weather didn't get any better with low cloud and drizzle present and on the horizon.
So I wanted to find a good composition which does the fall and the beautiful magestic surroundings justice !
The Briol Main House is located in the Isarco Valley in Barbiano - Tre Chiese at 1'310 m above sea level. A jump into an ice-cold pool is not for everyone, but it certainly becomes a passion for those, who are in the search of such an unspoilt piece of earth. The building was planned by the artist Hubert Lanzinger in 1928 and it is one of the very rare testimonies of the Bauhaus building style in the Alps. Created from stone and wood with a flat roof. Columns, immense windows for a house in the middle of the mountains without heating and with Spartan furnishing.
Zabriskie Point, Death Valley National Park, California, with alpenglow illuminating the Panamint Range across the valley. Intrepid early morning photographers hiked out to the crest of the Red Cathedral ridge.
Pololū valley is the northernmost of a series of impressive valleys that cut into the north east side Kohala volcano on the northern end of the Island of Hawaii. The valleys were formed by erosion of the volcanic rock which left nice black sand beaches along the oceanfront. Kohala was the first and therefor oldest of the five volcanoes that surfaced long ago to form “Big Island”.

The Monument Valley Road can be glimpsed below as it snakes toward the buttes in the valley.
Happy Sun Ray Sunday!
This is the lower end of the Morteratsch Valley. The source of the creek is the Morteratsch Glacier, which ends some 3 km further up the valley. Photo taken near the Morteratsch railway station.
Thank you for your visits / comments / faves!
Some of the Buttes closest to the visitors centre in Monument Valley.
Although it wasn't the clearest day the views were still amazing.
The cars on the road give an idea of just how immense these rocks are.
* The Chuy Valley is a large valley located in north Tian-Shan. It extends from Boom Gorge in the east to Muyunkum Desert in the west. It has an area of about 32,000 square kilometres (12,000 sq mi), and borders Kyrgyz Ala-Too in the south, and Chu-Ili mountains in the north. Through Boom Gorge in the narrow east part Chuy Valley is linked with Issyk-Kul Valley. Chu River is the major stream of the valley.
The warm summer and availability of drinking and irrigation water makes this area one of the most fertile and most densely populated regions of Kyrgyzstan.
There are deposits of zinc ore, lead, gold, and construction materials. The 2006 World Drug Report estimated that 400,000 hectares of cannabis grow wild in the Chuy Valley.
Valley of Fire State Park is the oldest state park in Nevada, USA and was designated as a National Natural Landmark in 1968. It covers an area of almost 42,000 acres (17,000 ha)[3] and was dedicated in 1935. It derives its name from red sandstone formations, formed from great shifting sand dunes during the age of dinosaurs. These features, which are the centerpiece of the park's attractions, often appear to be on fire when reflecting the sun's rays. This road reminded me of the movie Two Lane Blacktop from 1971 starring James Taylor and Dennis Wilson, I saw the original movie when it first ran...it became a cult movie.
Valley of Fire is located 50 miles (80 km) northeast of Las Vegas, at an elevation between 2,000–2,600 feet (610–790 m). It abuts the Lake Mead National Recreation Area at the Virgin River confluence. It lies in a 4 by 6 mi (6.4 by 9.7 km) basin.

I visited the Rhymney Valley the following weekend for the last rites and with the sun going down on the last day of regular loco hauled Rhymney Valley services 37419 is on the last lap of 2R26 13.59 Cardiff - Rhymney accelerating away from Pontlottyn. Saturday 10 December 2005.
One last image from last weekend's adventure at our local National Park. This long exposure from Valley View was the last image I shot last Saturday. It was bitter cold, but the company of other photographers was nice and warm. Good conversations and camaraderie as night set in, as the stars, cars, fog and clouds moved about.
