My second micro Lord of the Rings creation, after Edoras. Andrew JN suggested that I build Rivendell, and I was skeptical about being able to pull it off in micro-scale at first. The main build process took a little over 2 weeks, and then I needed to wait a bit longer for parts to arrive to finish the model. It was primarily based off of these two images: picture 1, picture 2.

The model is view-able from all sides, and while one of my most complex micro creations, it was an extremely rewarding build.

Rivendell, also known as Imladris, was an Elven town and the house of Elrond located in Middle-earth. It is described as “The Last Homely House East of the Sea”, referencing towards Valinor, which is west of the Great Sea in Aman.

"Then they came to the seat of Morgoth in his nethermost hall that was upheld by horror, lit by fire, and filled with weapons of death and torment. There Beren slunk in wolf's form beneath his throne; but Luthien was stripped of her disguise by the will of Morgoth, and he bent his gaze upon her."

I was reading the story of Beren and Lúthien in the Silmarillion for the first time as I built this, fittingly, and I’m really excited with the way my unlightbox worked in the photography session. Basically I made a dark box with light only coming in through a thick blanket on top, and from the front, but I also put a light in the back to make Melkor stand out against the light grey because otherwise he would get lost; and this way he stands out as the only thing in shadows.

This is my entry to the Semifinals of MELO, and an entry to the Summer Joust. The category was Evil, and for the Summer Joust I had to build a Scene of Light and Shadows, contrasting the lives of two beings in a single scene. What could be more evil than the thought of the fallen Vala, a design more dark than any that had yet come into his heart since he fled from Valinor? And what better contrast than that of the fairest of all the Children of Ilúvatar, with the very form of Evil, the author of discord and darkness?

I hope you like it! The picture was a lot of work, I stayed up all night working on this, haha. To God be the glory!

The Adventure

Traveling once again to other realms, Honey found themself in a magical place.

This time instead of the world of man, they found a realm of elves. They’d come in search of unseelie magics to better understand that part of their realm. The nymph even dressed the part!

They thought they looked rather dark and brooding focusing…and cute!

MELO 2022 Round 2 Entry

-------------------------------------------------

During the climactic War of Wrath, while under siege by the whole host of Valinor and the Valar, Morgoth, in a last-ditch attempt to stave off defeat, released his darkest creature yet conceived, the gargantuan dragon Ancalagon the Black. Middle Earth had never nor has not since seen a dragon even approach his size and power.

Riding in from the west, however, came Eärendil, armed with a Silmaril on his brow and sailing on his flying vessel which had been blessed by the Valar. Eärendil, along with a host of great Eagles, struck down Ancalagon, whose corpse was so massive it flattened the largest mountains in Middle Earth, the three peaks of the Thangorodrim.

Thus ended the War of Wrath, Morgoth's reign, and the First Age of Middle Earth.

-----------------------------------------------

This was a pretty last-minute build. I had the idea for a week but was delayed in implementation and built it in a day. There is a lot I would change about it, but for my first foray into creature building, I thought it turned out okay! I'd love to hear any feedback in the comments, and hope you enjoy the build :)

Breathe Forever In Valinor

When my journey comes to its end

All my thought and time spent

There will be one last journey

In secret the sea leads to eternity

I disembark upon a land hidden from sight

I see a barricade of mountains on guard

A place where all the fair creatures delight

Beyond these huge walls lies that land of heart

Opened are my eyes and my mind

Sanctuary of light and green entwined

The sun forever dwells in the airs

No more touch of foul and all is fair

The lands and the waters are undying

Birds in the airs of peace stay flying

The home to the Powers of the World

Absolute beauty to me was first unfurled

A lost city has succumbed to nature as the water takes back what is her's. Swim through the once vibrant city and imagine what it must have been like before it sank beneath the surface. Stay tuned, I hear even the mermaids come together occasionally for dances.

An entry into the Forbidden Fortress category of the Colossal Castle Contest. A collab between John and I: John built the landscape, while I built the fortress. The build is based off of the story of Beren and Luthien from the Silmarillion. There's a full interior inside, and the drawbridge is functional. Sauron's werewolf form, and Huan were both inspired by Dunedain and Blake Baer.

Fun fact: this build used every single one of our trans green 1x1 plates and tiles for the swamp.

Luthien and Huan, the Hound of Valinar, rescue Beren from Sauron's fortress of Tol-in-Gaurhoth. Sauron takes the form of a werewolf to battle Huan.

"Therefore he (Sauron) took upon himself the form of a werewolf, and made himself the mightiest that had yet walked the world; and he came forth to win the passage of the bridge... But no wizardry nor spell, neither fang nor venom, nor devil's art nor beast-strength, could overthrow Huan of Valinor; and he took his foe by the throat and pinned him down" (Tolkien 175).

This is my entry to Round 5 of MELO over on the MOCpages! This is the part of the Lay of Beren and Luthien where Haun the hound of Valinor and Luthien of Doriath come to Tol-in-Gaurhoth (Isle of Werewolves) to save Beren from Sauron. This MOC depicts the battle of Haun and Sauron. Enjoy!

(Comments and critique appreciated!)

The day's last breath, a sigh of gold,

Upon this terrace to the sky,

A story in the clouds is told,

As on this outdoor bed I lie.

The sun dissolves in crimson streams,

The air grows cool, the light grows thin,

And rising from the world of dreams,

The stars of memory begin.

My gaze lifts past the violet bar,

To find the sight my heart knows best,

A single, incandescent star—

More real and radiant than the rest.

That sphere of pearl, that sapphire gleam,

That swirl of silver and of white,

A half-remembered, waking dream,

That dominates the coming night.

That beacon is my Valinor,

A jewel in the velvet dark,

The home I ache and hunger for,

My spirit's anchor, and its mark.

So let the alien twilight fall,

I have my peace, a world away,

For I can see and still recall

The shores of my own endless day.

My first entry for the ABS builder challenge. As you can probably tell, this was a rushed build (to a degree), and do to time constraints I was forced to use the uggly photo editor. :/

Now to some context:

"The other bore leaves of a young green like the new-opened beach; their edges were of glittering gold. Flowers swung upon her branches in clusters of yellow flame, formed each to a glowing horn that spilled a golden rain upon the ground; and from the blossom of that tree there came forth warth and great light. Telperion the one was called in Valinor, and Silpion, and Ninquelote, and many other names..."

Ok, so I couldn't make a "glowing horn" of yellow flowers, but at least their there. :)

I experimented with foliage in this build, so please tell me what you think!

I'm wondering if extending the foliage to the base made it too messy...

~Adair.

Hearing of the tragedy that had befallen Arvernien, Eärendil set sail in search of Valinor to ask the Valar for aid for the Men and Elves of Middle Earth in their fight against Morgoth.
