I was able to achieve an effect where the key light and fill light work in harmony with one another to light up the subject. Without the redirection of the key light, the subject would have been insufficiently lit, whereas without the fill light the subject would have been too lit up.
I made sure to keep my aperture wide and focal length short for the shot. This way I could keep the subject perfectly in focus while hazing the background. Since this photo was taken during the day's peak light times, I lowered the highlights in Lightroom to get rid of some overly-exposed areas. This photo is a good fit for the fourth requirement because of the use of flash and ambient lighting. Without the flash, this photo would have been severely, poorly lighted.
