The site of Phalasarna (Falassarna) was utilized from the Middle Minoan period through to the mid-1st century BC. The earliest phases are still unknown, however from the 4th century BC the settlement flourished and could boast of strong fortifications and a closed harbour, a naval force to be reckoned with, a mint, several temples, and the trappings of a prosperous city with access to trade routes. The city reached its pinnacle in the glow of the Hellenistic world situated as it was on the route between Ptolemaic Alexandria and the Aegean. The sources of the city’s wealth may well have derived from piratical ventures as was common in the Mediterranean, however this conflicted with the interests of the expanding Roman political, social, and economic network. In an attempt to eliminate the pirate nests dotted around the coast of Crete Roman military forces eventually destroyed the city in 69 BC. The settlement never recovered from this action, although a Roman town located further south adopted the name of Phalasarna. Other factors such as a rise in sea level may also have contributed to the city’s decline. Massive earthquakes in 365 AD eventually raised the area 6.66m.

I chose to utilize the stylistic qualities of Imogen Cunningham. Specifically, the use of natural light, selection of subject, and simple background is something I really enjoy and is also practical for this assignment. Her style of straight photography was appealing to me because of the raw nature of her images. The naturally seductive symmetry of the Echeveria is captured, along with the focus being sharp enough to detail the occasional hairs of the local cats, and the ash from the recent fires in the environment surrounding the plant. I used my Apple iPhone Pro Max 11 with a 2.0 zoom and Apple’s Silvertone filter. I wanted to be able to exhibit the plant as I saw it but bring it to the audience as it might have been seen in the early 20th century. While Imogen’s photos of plants seem to be primarily studio work, my photo of the succulent in situ is meant to be a bit of a nod to Eugene Atget.

My artwork attempts to map and record the specific emotional and intellectual notions embroiled within the moment of creation, it utilizes a range of artistic tools such as drawing, painting, sculpture, stock animation and collage to immortalize the specific moment. My work centralizes around highly visceral and esoteric themes, developing a complex aesthetic language which employs symbolism and highly empathetic techniques to enthral and perplex the onlooker.
Through the process of creation I attempt to lay down a record or memory of my mindset at that time, I focus upon the perversion of traditional mythologies, especially Ancient Grecian and Biblical myth, to achieve an allegorical context to thematically surround my artwork. I also attempt to apply specific emotive cues in order to embellish a narrative which may only reveal itself to the viewer when the piece is seen in reference to the title of the painting or drawing, this close knit relationship between the title and intentions of the piece manifests an artistic practice which is highly involved with literary and philosophical debates. As a creative person my appreciation of the beauty of form and content is by no means limited to the artistic world, although the analysis and admiration of other artists work is central to my practice, as the aesthetic and thematic beauty of literature and philosophy is a strong influence in the discussion of intellectual ideas within my artwork.
I would consider myself a traditional British artist as my practice and methods are highly conventional, despite the abstract and curious results of my labour, however a theme which remains intact throughout my practice is the artistic relationship with the representation of reality, indeed the majority of my work has a strong footing in realism, and uses a highly developed aesthetic language and symbolism to pervert the actual view of the human form within my artistic universe. This allows me to comment upon issues such as the interpretation of reality and challenge traditional views of concepts so highly embedded in the common mind set, issues of beauty and morality for example. Whilst my work has a definite esoteric facet, it is intended to be seen and exhibited, the intention of the piece is to develop and raise discussion and through the perversion of commonly held images, this is highly effective when dealing with issues of sexuality which are surrounded with taboo, the alteration of conventional images in this thematic bracket is highly potent at stimulating thought and plays with a persons’ introspective nature to raise a deep questioning about the individuals’ place within society and life.

Explosion prevention electric heater
1.small size and large power: the electric heater mainly uses cluster-type tubular electric heating elements.
2.fast thermal response, high thermal control accuracy, and high comprehensive thermal efficiency.
3.high heating temperature: the design working temperature may reach 850℃.
4.even media outlet temperature and high thermal control accuracy.
5.wide application scope and strong adaptability: the heater is applicable to explosion prevention or common applications, the explosion may reach Grade dII B and C, and the pressure resistance may reach 20MPa.
6.long service life and high reliability: the heater is made of special electric heating materials, the design surface power load is low, and multiple protection is adopted, so that the safety and service life of the electric heater will be significantly increased.
7.Available fully automated control: with the heater circuit design as required, the outlet temperature, flow, pressure and other parameters may be controlled automatically and conveniently and linked to computer.
8.Obvious energy conservation effect: the heat energy generated by power is almost fully transferred to the heating media. It is a form of energy utilization. Compared with common fuel heating, electric heating may generate high temperature (for example, the arc heating temperature may reach above 3000℃), thus being convenient to realize automatic control and remote control of temperature. The vehicle-mounted electric cup may enable certain temperature distribution of the heated object. The electric heating energy may generate heat inside the heated object directly, thus having high thermal efficiency and fast temperature increase, and realizing overall even heating or local heating (including surface heating) as well as vacuum heating and controlled atmosphere heating according to the requirements of heating technique.
In the process of electric heating, the generated amount of waste gas, residue and fume is small, thus keeping the heated object clean and not polluting the environment. Therefore, electric heating is widely used in the fields of production, research and experimentation, particularly in the manufacturing of mono-crystalline and transistors, machinery parts and surface hardening, ferroalloy smelting and artificial graphite production).
