I work full time, and sometimes way more than 40 hours a week. Just to be off work and to chase these storms would have been what I wanted to do... However when you can't chase and you have a sunset and the back side of a few severe thunderstorms moving over the eastern part of the state of Nebraska....
2 days in a row of some spectacular photographic thunderstorm views from South Central Nebraska pointing due east of Kearney Nebraska. Storms were cresting northwest out of North Central Kansas had moved into southeastern Nebraska that evening. Had the perfect light and the clouds and sky were speaking...
I couldn't resist...

Editors Note...
Once a year a pull out a few sets from years past to start of the new year. In 2024 this year I have went back & revamped one of my favorite severe storms photo shoots of 2018
Back then I over colorized & over saturated the images. Pixelated & not my best work... Images were what I wanted but not the final product. If you want to see those to compare to these remastered images... here is your Flickr Link to that set of images...
But these are Gems of Gems.. I've even added about 50+ images in this set that I wasn't able to work on back in 2018. I even made a video with the old images to kick off the 2023 season... You can watch this right here on Flickr... Click Here ** Please remember I used the old images in this video **
Lightning is my forte... It is why I chase storms. To have an photo opportunity come up like this & traveled only 6 blocks from my home to get these pics...Gotta Luv Nebraska!

About that evening...
An epic night of sunset light and storm light @ twilight. Its almost every storm chasers dreams... or at least, in my own opinion, to get along side of a storm like this, as its firing away some incredible CC & CG every few seconds. What more could you ask for...
I was that Lucky Guy that evening. Just mother nature and I. Close to home after a few long storm chasing jaunts is just fine by me. She was producing and I was capturing every incredible second of this storm.. No Forking Bolt went away that evening without me getting a snap of its presence..

When I first started using this camera I had a lot of trouble getting the hang on the winding on mechanism. This is a weird cross over triptych that I ended up with. Thankfully all three shots were taken at the same location so they all go together.

Scafell from Wasdalehead, Lake District - 1st August 2005.
Time to raid the archives again ...
What I wrote back then:
"We arrived back at Wasdalehead in time to catch the last of the warm summer light, before the sun disappeared behind the surrounding hills and suddenly plunged the valley bottom into cool shadow. The four girls were sitting in their tent, chattering happily about the things we had done and seen. They were so at ease in each other's company that you would have thought they were sisters, rather than pairs of cousins who only saw each other a couple of times each year.
"Laura came over to me and said quietly 'Have you seen the hill up there Uncle Mike?'
I turned to see Scafell* covered in dark cloud, but with a patch of brilliant sunlight racing up its shoulder.
"Grabbing my camera, we both ran to get a clearer view, just in time to see the sun light up one of the lower crags. I snatched a photo as the light disappeared, hoping that I had caught the moment.
"The perfect end to a perfect day".

This seemed like an appropriate shot for today what with the temp barely being above 0 degrees. I actually think when I took this shot the temps weren't that cool but any shot of the iced out castle gives me memories of the cold. I think part of this has to do with my first trip to Disney with a camera it was absolutely freezing. I remember standing in front of the castle with all the dreamlights freezing as an unexpected arctic blast came down. Now whenever I see the dreamlights I always think of that week and how cold it was. Enjoy.

So, I saw Tron Legacy the other day, and felt compelled to build something from it... the Light Cycle seemed like a good choice. It wasn't. This is probably the most illegal thing I've built this year, though I am proud to say it's completely purist - all parts used are 100% official! Now, you'll notice many stickers all over this sucker [particularly the "wheel" sections]; while the stickers [which are mostly these by the way] are critical for holding each set of two old-style wheels together, they're not the only thing holding the wheel sections to the middle section, I assure you! If I chose something more orthodox, the vehicle would have been too big. Stickers are slick.
The thing with this new, re-designed light cycle is that its scale is incredibly deceptive. They look pretty big when they're zooming around, but upon closer examination [thank goodness there's so much reference out there!] they're not that big at all.
Also, this is the first time I've built something using a minifigure as "part" of the vehicle... I usually look at minifigs as extra to be added later, but not with this build. Unfortunately, minifigure's legs do not bend like a humans, so he's not really sitting on the light cycle "perfectly"; I had to pose him how I thought might look best. I didn't want to create a whole new, brick-built pair of legs that have a knee for fear that they'd simply blend in with the vehicle itself and the viewer wouldn't be able to distinguish between the two.
Just a couple words about the picture from me; I hadn't seen the first one, so I can only comment on the second and not compare them. While much of the dialogue was just plain campy, it was a visually stunning sight. The first 30 seconds was really cool in 3-D [I'm talking about the Disney title scene and the main title scene.] And the music, by the incomparable Daft Punk, was perfect. In fact, as I was building this, I had it blasting. I highly recommend buying the soundtrack.
There are more pictures on MOCpages or Brickshelf once moderated.

I can see where I changed my playlist algorithm,
and started using a whitelisted-subset ('changerrecent'),
at which point playlist management really takes off.
This was around March, 2006.
Up to that point, it was a 9000 song shuffle ('changer'), so the
graph is all thin slivers. The first large slivers emerge after we
started doing ChangerRecent, a smaller subset (1000 vs 9000).
Then, certain bands taper off and stop -- because we started doing
ChangerRecentToLearnOnly. As songs were learned, they were
removed from the playlist. Catchier bands taper off sooner, thus
you can see, for example, King Missile tapering off by August of
2007 -- way before completely un-catchy Ratos De Parao, which
took until November of 2007.
Our first completed CRTL (ChangerRecentToLearn) was 1000
songs, and took ~6 months (May->November) to complete.
Notice Ratos De Paroa at the bottom. This was the VERY LAST
BAND in our ToLearn playlist -- the least catchy -- possibly the worst
music in the playlist. Thus, at the very end, this was all that remained
for a good week until we learned the final songs. Makes it look more
important than it is. (August-October 2007.)
New music was put in once R.D.P. was learned -- but we kept
the ToLearn playlist in the 0-150 song range -- never going up
to 1000 like the first time. That is, we keep up with the new music
nowadays, and never get 1000 behind.
Thus, on the right of the graph, you now see larger, consolidated
blocks of fewer bands. This represents the transformation in how
we listen to music.
After that, there were about 10 concerts in 5 months, so the
decision of what new music to add was based on which bands
we were about to see in concert -- Ozzy Osbourne, Chemlab,
Ween, Gwar, They Might Be Giants, Ministry, etc.
As you can see at the very right of the graph, Ministry is taking
over our playlists, as we prepare for the March Ministry concert.
Ministry now represents about 95% of music listened to in the
past 2 weeks.
This was the best I could do without trespassing and was taken from the public road behind. Almost all of these vehicles are now withdrawn except for 22009 GX51PUJ, (which may be reinstated at Thanet for schools cover), while 17619 V619DJA and 16090 R190XNO have both departed last week, with 17628 W628RND now added to the Storage compound in their place since my last visits: www.flickr.com/photos/69558134@N05/28333496032/

Yes I'm back again.
However due to my main computer on which I edit my work being struck down with a big bad virus, this picture and all the others I am uploading, were Unedited but have now been replaced with Edited versions. So enjoy and Thanks for your patience and understanding.
I do still hate everything about this shit that is new Flickr and always will, but an inability to find another outlet for my work that is as easy for me to use as the Old BETTER Flickr was, has forced me back to Flickr, even though it goes against everything I believe in.
I don't generally have an opinion on my own work, I prefer to leave that to other people and so based on the positive responses to my work from the various friends I had made on Flickr prior to the changes I have decided to upload some more of my work as an experiment and to see what happens.
So make the most of me before they delete my acount: www.flickr.com/photos/69558134@N05/?details=1, to stop me complaining!!
Someone had put some persona posters up and I got angry, saying that the whole country were our users, not some neat persona. I ripped a hole in that piece of paper and stuck it in the window.
