It is better in prayer to have a heart without words than words without a heart. Talking isn't doing. It is a kind of good deed to say well; and yet words are not deeds. The most important things are the hardest things to say.......
In 1717, the ship Squirrel brought Samuel Shute, the royal governor of Massachusetts, to Arrowsic Island on the Kennebec River to renew a peace treaty with the local Indians. The ship ran aground but was later refloated, and the incident was memorialized in the name given to the location: Squirrel Point. The Squirrel Point Light was erected in 1898, and several other buildings were added later. The light was automated in the early 1980s, but before that there were many lighthouse keepers and their families who lived in a house nearby. We saw the lighthouse during a very fun and informative lighthouse cruise in Maine.
Once upon a time there were three Seagulls ...
Here's something different, we could create a story with our comments, if everybody adds a sentence to follow on from the one before, our collective imaginations could create a story about these three Seagulls. Let's play and see where it takes us ...

Came upon this view while hiking up to Lake Agnes there in Banff National Park. Just had to stop and take a shot ... hard to do this view justice but liked the interplay of tall pines and the peaks and the patch of blue sky through the clouds.

Isaiah 28:13 “But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.”

Cole River
Swansea, Massachusetts
Heavy clouds to the south of the Cole River part enough to allow for some deep B&W IR photography on a warm summer morning. Having grown up on the southern, tidal end of the river where it meets Mount Hope Bay, I was unaware this lazy body of water miles away is part of it. The large rock left of center is a favorite perch of aquatic and wading birds; lately its been occupied by a double-crested cormorant—in years past, a great blue heron.
To my American friends, have a happy and safe 4th of July!
Filters: 590 nm IR (camera conversion by LifePixel)
In 1835, Berwick was told that its prison in the Town Hall was unsuitable and needed to be replaced. It took sometime to find a site, agree on plans and raise the money to do this. However, this project finally came to fruition with the opening of this building in Wallace Green in 1849 as a Prison. It's history as a prison was relatively short lived as it closed in 1878. However, having cost so much to build, a new use had to be found for it. Initially it was used as a Court house and by Berwick's Police Force, but then in the early 1890s it was purchased by Berwick's
Urban Sanitary Authority, it was converted to office
accommodation and stables were built on the back of the site. A plaque above the main door commemorates the completion of this work in 1892. From then until 2009, the building was used a Council administrative buildings, being eventually sold after 2015 to a local developer, who has converted it to four properties, retaining many of its original features, including some of the prison cells on the top floor.
