Day 31 of 365.
Apple announced the opening of pre-orders for the iPad today.
Another object of Apple-envy.
Today in Ethics we had a discussion about dependency on electronics.
Someone mentioned seeing people at parties that just sat in a corner and texted the whole time.
Why go somewhere to text - you could do the same from the toilet.
I'm going to try to unplug some of my cables so I can rejoin the natural world.
Anyone with me?

Run to your dreaming
When you're alone
Unplug the TV, turn off your phone
Get heavy on with digging your ditch
Cause I'm digging a ditch where madness gives a bit
Digging a ditch where silence lives
Digging a ditch for when I'm old
Digging this ditch my story's told
Where all these troubles
That weigh down on me will rise
Run to your dreaming
When you're alone
Where all these questions
Spinnin' around my head
Will die, will die, will die..
Run to your dreaming
When you're alone
Unplug the TV, turn off your phone
Get heavy on with digging your ditch
Cause I'm digging a ditch where madness gives a bit
Digging a ditch where silence lives
Digging a ditch when I am through
Digging this ditch I'll dig in for you
Where all these worries
Weigh it down on me will rise
Where all these habits
Pull heavy at my heart
will die
Run to your dreaming
When you're alone
Not what you should be or what you've become
Just get heavy on with digging your ditch
Cause I'm digging a ditch where madness gives a bit
Digging a ditch where silence lives
Where all these disappointments, grow angry out of me
Will rise...
Will die...
Will die...
Will die...
Digging A Ditch

The annual PowerPlex User Conference is packed wall-to-wall with value content. We spend a few days filling our heads with best practices, new ideas and more capabilities. So at the end of the day, we like to unplug our brains for a few hours and have some fun. We call it “PartyPlex”. It’s a chance to hang-out with all the Plex users and Plexians, engage in some friendly competition and raise money for one of our favorite charities.
This year’s PartyPlex took place at the new Dallara IndyCar Racing Experience in Speedway, Indiana. Attendees experienced the thrill of racing with laps in the cockpit of a street legal IndyCar, behind the wheel of racing simulator games and around the minicar track. There was plenty of good food, drink and music to go around.
This year’s focus charity was the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan. Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with joy. We think it’s a remarkable organization. We were delighted to raise more than $21,000 to support their efforts with the PartyPlex Silent Auction and games.

from Western Electric's "Design Line" series. got this from my grandparents when they upgrated. they complained that it was messing up their cordless phone. apperantly we had the same problems because my parents made me unplug it.
this flyer conceptualized to promote quality in life. technology can be useful beyond belief but when do you tell yourself you're using it to much? can it be a detriment to your happiness? yes, is the answer.
While at #Unplugd11, we worked in small groups on our chapter pieces, and convened as a large group for common discussions. The space upstairs at the lodge was very conducive to our purposes. What a great venue!!

I was doing this for a long time. Hubby and I were trying to get things all worked out together between a few devices. We each had things we'd individually downloaded but were trying to sync it all up so we would all have the same things.

On sunday I had their treats dehydrating (i buy steak and then dehydrate it). It was running just about all day. We were all in bed, the girls were sleeping - I remembered I should unplug the dehydrator before we go to bed. So I unplug it and I turn around and there sits Lucy and Violet waiting for their treats! LOL!!! So I had to grab the camera!
Here is the first image in my second go at the 365 day challenge. I know, it's April already but a 365 project is a fool's errand. What better day to start? Even better, start with a self-portrait. There will be plenty more to come.
This shoot started as an experiment lighting the background with a red gel I picked up recently. I lit the background with an Elinchrom BX500Ri with a 12 degree honeycomb grid and red gel camera left. The key light is an Elinchrom BX500Ri through a 27" gridded softbox camera right. The lights were triggered with the Elinchrom Skyport transmitter. I decided to try a black and white treatment which made the whole red gel experiment pointless. I used a pair of Pocket Wizards to remotely trigger the shutter and discovered that the LCD screen on the camera doesn't work while the Pocket Wizard is plugged into the camera. So after each test shot I had to unplug the Pocket Wizard, review the image, adjust the camera/settings and plug the Pocket Wizard back in, rinse and repeat. Next time I will try shooting tethered to my MacBook and hopefully that will allow me to more quickly review the shots.
