The annual PowerPlex User Conference is packed wall-to-wall with value content. We spend a few days filling our heads with best practices, new ideas and more capabilities. So at the end of the day, we like to unplug our brains for a few hours and have some fun. We call it “PartyPlex”. It’s a chance to hang-out with all the Plex users and Plexians, engage in some friendly competition and raise money for one of our favorite charities.
This year’s PartyPlex took place at the new Dallara IndyCar Racing Experience in Speedway, Indiana. Attendees experienced the thrill of racing with laps in the cockpit of a street legal IndyCar, behind the wheel of racing simulator games and around the minicar track. There was plenty of good food, drink and music to go around.
This year’s focus charity was the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan. Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with joy. We think it’s a remarkable organization. We were delighted to raise more than $21,000 to support their efforts with the PartyPlex Silent Auction and games.

o.k., so I haven't been online (literally) in almost a week.
I've come back from the prairie, now....
it was a long trip back in my covered wagon.
lol.
It was one of those weeks.
Chaos, drama, stress, sadness,
the stuff of life.
It seemed to be swallowing me whole.
In taking my son's 'gadgets' away for the week, he angrily told me that I wouldn't be able to live without mine.
I didn't respond, because the punishment wasn't about me.
I silently accepted this challenge,
to unplug.
Re-group.
Reach out.
It's amazing what comes to the surface when you aren't distracted by computers, social networking, cellphones, etc.
And often, its the stuff you are unconsciously hiding from.
and that was sort of my 'eureka' moment this past week. :)
now..... I have 6 days of back-logged 365's to get up and posted. :)
U-Links
I’m helping out again today, in the technical area. Normally all the digital video signals get passed through these lovely purple u-links, but sometimes we need to put special things on the line instead, so we overplug the feed. I was in charge of making sure the u-links were all stored nicely in the bay.

Ben (@benhazzard), Kelly (@kellypower), and Rodd (@thecleversheep) gather to discuss events at #Unplugd11. By helping to organize the wonderful event, these fine folks also got to stay behind and extra day at Northern Edge Algonquin and soak in the wonderful energy we had left behind. (I'm pretty sure they weren't cleaning up after us! Aside from the rocks, that is!)
My internet has been acting up for a few months now. It'll keep going out, causing me to have to reset it or sometimes unplug it altogether and leave it off for a few minutes. Then it'll be fine for awhile, and then act up again. Lately the problems have been occurring with more frequency, the latest snafu leaving me without internet access for an entire day. Obviously for an addict like me, this is a huge problem. I finally broke down and called the cable company yesterday, but the soonest a technician can come over is Friday morning. Of course after being out since Monday night, the internet randomly decided to start working this morning. I have no idea when it will go out on me again, but I fear that it probably will. Of course it will probably be fine until right AFTER the Comcast guy comes, and then start acting up again after he leaves. I'd love to know what's been causing all this. I've tried unhooking everything and hooking it back up, making sure that cables are secure, everything. There's no rhyme or reason to it.
Day 31 of 365.
Apple announced the opening of pre-orders for the iPad today.
Another object of Apple-envy.
Today in Ethics we had a discussion about dependency on electronics.
Someone mentioned seeing people at parties that just sat in a corner and texted the whole time.
Why go somewhere to text - you could do the same from the toilet.
I'm going to try to unplug some of my cables so I can rejoin the natural world.
Anyone with me?

Run to your dreaming
When you're alone
Unplug the TV, turn off your phone
Get heavy on with digging your ditch
Cause I'm digging a ditch where madness gives a bit
Digging a ditch where silence lives
Digging a ditch for when I'm old
Digging this ditch my story's told
Where all these troubles
That weigh down on me will rise
Run to your dreaming
When you're alone
Where all these questions
Spinnin' around my head
Will die, will die, will die..
Run to your dreaming
When you're alone
Unplug the TV, turn off your phone
Get heavy on with digging your ditch
Cause I'm digging a ditch where madness gives a bit
Digging a ditch where silence lives
Digging a ditch when I am through
Digging this ditch I'll dig in for you
Where all these worries
Weigh it down on me will rise
Where all these habits
Pull heavy at my heart
will die
Run to your dreaming
When you're alone
Not what you should be or what you've become
Just get heavy on with digging your ditch
Cause I'm digging a ditch where madness gives a bit
Digging a ditch where silence lives
Where all these disappointments, grow angry out of me
Will rise...
Will die...
Will die...
Will die...
