Desert Hawk is an extremely versatile and small Unmanned Aerial System designed for discrete operations. It is operated normally at the company level but is equally well employed above and below this. It has an extremely good record proven over the last year and is currently supporting 16 Air Assault Brigade in Afghanistan. It provides an excellent 'over the hill' view for commanders on the ground.

The UNITED STATES ARMY: LEAD from the FRONT & ABOVE - HOOAH.
Quadcopters + Armored Air Insertion - BEFORE quadcopters were cool! Or the delivery of tanks by them for that matter! ;-)
I say again: HOOAH.
Expedient? Probably not at this scale.
Costly? Must be.
Risk Level? HIGH (critical/catastrophic loss of mission essential equipment).
Cool Nonetheless? Damn Skippy.
The type of tank depicted probably provides a clue as to the time period of this photo, but I don't know my tanks, so I'm guessing some time during the 1960's. With Fort Eustis being the originator of the photo, its transportation history, and serving as home to the U.S. Army Transportation Museum, I wouldn't be surprised if this photograph is in some display or another there.

The Remote Piloted Air System (RPAS) known as Watchkeeper is pictured during flight trials at Parc Aberporth in West Wales.
Watchkeeper provides enhanced UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) capability that will enable commanders to detect and track targets for long periods, without the need to deploy troops into potentially sensitive or dangerous areas.
The system is capable of rapid deployment and operations anywhere in the world and will support the information requirements of all three services.

The General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper has a maximum altitude of 50,000 feet and cruises at 194 mph while carrying four laser-guided, air-to-ground 114 Hellfire missiles, a payload of up to 800 pounds. It has streaming full-motion video and a range of sensors to keep track of ground targets. This more than doubles the capability over the previous generation unmanned aerial vehicle, the MQ-1 Predator.

When in a new town, after the initial shock of trying to find my way around has passed, I like to keep an eye out for interesting sights or sites. I passed this industrial area after getting slightly lost and immediately put it on my list of places to come back and check out.
I think it is an old Amcor Limited premises and I would like to be able to explore inside. I flew my little DJI quad over from the park across the river and got a couple of shots during the 20 minutes the battery gave me.

Artistic view of AVIATR Titan airplane mission concept over bright terrain mountains with alluviated margins.
The AVIATR mission concept is an unmanned aerial vehicle that would fly over Titan’s surface. It’s nominal one year mission would enable detailed high-resolution images of Titan’s diverse landscapes for better comparison to Earth’s geological processes. Selected regions could be imaged at resolutions near 30 cm/pixel, equivalent to current HiRise imaging of Mars. In addition, atmospheric sampling would allow a profile of Titan’s thick lower atmosphere and how it relates to Earth’s atmospheric processes and weather systems.
Further details of the AVIATR mission concept were presented at the Lunar and Planetary Sciences Conference 2010 and at Titan Through Time 2010.

I started teaching drone photography classes at City College of San Francisco. This morning I was there, and apparently a lot of the students missed the announcement that we are starting the class at the soccer field, which was designated as FRIA (FAA-Recognized Identification Area) so we can fly drones including the older ones CCSF owns, such as DJI SPARK, as they don't all have remote ID module.
Soon enough the students came and we started the class, but I was happy to get this shot!
