At first glance, it looked as if it was bags of tatties that were being unloaded at Arbroath Harbour in December, 1958. But as the full horror of Arbroath importing potatoes started to sink in, it dawned that the sacks were more likely to contain cement, being loaded on to a British Road Services four-wheeler.
Here we arrived on the island of Marinduque in the town of Gasan. You can see the small yellow boat on the starboard side of the bangka ferry loading passengers.

Stopped at the Vantage Point and Boatnerd Headquarters in Port Huron on our drive to Stratford. My lovely wife let us stay there for almost 90 minutes waiting for ships to come in. This is the last ship I saw that definitely worth it. Here is the Self-unloader Paul R. Tregurtha heading upbound past the Vantage Point in Port Huron on the St. Clair River. This 1013' self-unloader was built in 1981 and is part of the Interlake Steamship Company. The Paul R. Tregurtha is the largest ship on the lakes - hard to get it into one picture! It was great as it passed, they announced information about the ship for the people who were inside and outside the Great Lakes Maritime Center or Boatnerd Vantage Point. Earthquake survivors in the quake-ravaged Haitian city of Leogane unpack emergency supplies provided by Diakonie, a member of the ACT Alliance, and Caritas Internationalis.
Diakonie organized an air cargo shipment of 34 tons of relief supplies from Europe, along with basic medicines for 80,000 people. The plane wasn't allowed to land in Port-au-Prince until January 20, and was unloaded within hours. Aid was shipped immediately to Leogane in United Nations trucks, where under watch by UN soldiers from Argentina it was unloaded by residents and quickly distributed.
