I hope so much that the economy will improve , war will end and we all can find common ground.
This is Peace Arch on the Canada – USA border in sort of no-man's land . I used to go shopping to US often but not in few years. I just HATE how everyone is assumed to be a criminal , all the questions …. why , where , how long …. smile here is a big guy with a rubber glove. Last year I was returning on the long flight to Vancouver and … Canada Border Services gives me litany of questions and I politely answered few of them but when he started to ask me why I was traveling by myself only and so one - I just had enough and give him my 5 cents.

In this photo, I used an interesting technique: I started the shot with a focal length of 85 mm, capturing a wide-angle view of the scene. During the 4 seconds of exposure, I gradually adjusted the zoom until I reached 18 mm, achieving a dynamic change in perspective.

This year, I wanted to capture more than just an image. I wanted to capture the essence of what brings us together in this community: the love for light, for details that often go unnoticed, and for moments that, though fleeting, leave an everlasting mark in our memories.
The photograph I’m sharing with you was taken at the beautiful Castle of Peñíscola, a place full of history and magic, especially during the festive season. While the holiday lights brighten up our towns, reminding us of the warmth of Christmas, I would like to extend a special wish to you: may the magic of these days light up your hearts as brightly as the stars in a clear night sky.

Taken at night, the bow of Pontypridd's Unity sculpture is looking resplendent following a recent repaint.
The sculpture was designed by Andy Hazell and installed in 2009. It represents three iconic parts of Pontypridd's history. First, the depiction of the old bridge, engineered in 1756 by William Edwards. Second, the railway - once Pontypridd had one of the longest railway platforms in the country and was one of the busiest as coal ("black gold") was transported down to the sea from the many collieries to the north of Pontypridd. Third, the bow of the ship represents both the coal that fuelled the naval fleet and the Brown Lenox chainworks which stood nearby, and supplied chains to Isambard Kingdom Brunel and others.

"For the Grant Road Improvement Project Phase 2, Simon Donovan & Ben Olmstead were selected to complete artwork for the project. The sculpture they created is called Unity and is comprised of five figures, three female, two male. Each one is approximately 10 feet tall. They stand in a circle facing outward, holding hands and leaning far forward. They would tumble forward if not for the cooperation, trust, and collective effort that is required in forming an unbroken ring. Thus the title "Unity".
"The sculpture is made of hundreds of parallel, vertically aligned stainless steel plates, each held 1 inch apart. The result is a study of figures with a shifting perception of form as one moves around the sculpture. Additionally, it will be illuminated with amber colored LED lights at night."

It was a busy day today...doing some promo work for a brochure for Year 10 High School Art Works and visited my other daughter in one of her art classes at her High School. The students were happy for me to photograph this. They were wonderful with their honesty, free uncomplicated spirit and unity. This says so much, don't you agree?

This is a black and white version of the Unity school. The school is over 100 years old. If you look through my photo stream you will see that I rarely convert images to B&W. This is because I usually like the color version better. However, on rare occasion I like the B&W version better. This is one such instance and I feel this version does the image more justice and has more mood to it.
