Catching up on many kusudama I forgot to post this year..

found on the origami library YouTube. the x30 rafaleta kusadama.

apparently the units allow for a lot of shapes to be formed I am curious if it will get soggy at 60 units

The smaller ball is what 30 of the pineapple units ended up looking like. If I made the smaller number ball first it may have thrown me off of the larger ball. The smaller ball requires a lot more neatness. I used a few scrap pieces of paper and it ended up showing. The ball pulls it self a lot tighter and the edges can rip them selves apart if you pull to much. I may remake it for the sake of neatness because the units are fun and easy to make. And it goes together really tight so it would take a good reason for me to take it apart

This one is floating around the internet under several different names. I originally found it as the qingping on a popular database site. I actually had translate the name from Japanese and find it on YouTube.

I originally wanted to make it because I am cleaning my desk off and using all of the scraps of paper on my desk that can be used stuff. This one turned out to be.

I really should have put more thought into my paper choices with this one, it is a sonobe variation. But it is a really firm one. It requires putting the units into place before inserting any tabs into place. Because of the locking mechanism it hides irregularities wonderfully.

It is floating around the internet under a few names, and if you have the patience you can build a cuboctahedron with a few less units to.

It took a bit to make. It is not that is hard to make. The pieces just take a bit of thought to make.

The pieces have an interesting curve to them.

Trying to make something different. It will be a bit before I get all the units made, I wish I were using thinner paper. It affects the neatness.

I am using letter sized paper split in half, you can use pretty much any size rectangle greater than 1:2 mine is around 4x11.5 inches

It will be 30 units or if I get froggy 60 life has options :-)

I found these a few days back. And really just wanted to find one nice enough to give my wife. Plus this one being made from 1:2 scale rectangles. I was able to use the left over paper I had from making squares. It is nice to feel like I am wasting paper to.

There is a big debate online on when to curl the petals. Normally I swear against curling paper. So I had to try every way I saw. I decided to completely assemble the ball and then take each flap out individually to curl it. It meant assembling the ball twice. And maybe a third time to glue it together. unfortunately I didn't stop enough to get pictures because I was to focused over that

The page I found this unit has several different units made from several different shapes of paper. And there are lots of videos on YouTube

it has taken me a bit to post something new.

my carpal tunnel has gotten better bad. It took glue to connect but I think I can forgive myself this one time.

it was really the cool, but when you get this many pieces of paper they need to be to be the same size, I kinda screwed it up. but I still think it pretty firm,

They look really cool when assembled but can be a challenge till you figure the pattern out
