Unit origami, Day 30. 30 modules; didn't end up finding a use for more.

Un modulaire que j'ai créé il y a une couple d'années pour décorer le sapin. Tant pis pour les puristes, il faut de la colle pour faire tenir les 6 modules ensemble.

here's one of my origami pieces

By using hinja units in 2D, intricate weave patterns can be achieved creating a tapestry effect. Black and white lends itself to particularly mind bending illusions

Same Pentomino solution reflected vertically and horizontally

I found this one here while looking for something else. origami.kosmulski.org/instructions/cosmos-ball-mukerji I am glad I did it sent me on an extended hunt for the instructions. I was lucky to find them in some far off corner of the internet.

This one is a variation and is made with the intended size paper 1:2. I think this is going to be one of those pieces that requires maintenance or needs to be rotated every few weeks for it not to tear it self apart. I have one or two others on this page like that.

I used glue but rumor has it it can be done with out

Yeah, there were more & better pics of the display at one point, but I privatized some of them. I might edit & repost someday. If I feel there is reason to do so.

un modulaire fait de 30 modules assemblés sans colle. C'est un des nombreux modèles de Toshikazu Kawasaki et ça m'a pris une soirée à le plier et assembler.

Yes I really like my fuse box to hold pieces in. I also use it for a size reference of my finished projects

This ball does not like thick paper at all. And relies on sharp angles. There are a few variations floating and the internet, and I believe it is called signet base.

I want to try to make a few od the variations over the next few days just because I really do like the way this one turns out. But my hands needs a few days from the thick magazine paper i used. This is probably one of the simpler variations, and an example of pre creases makes it possible. But it did require a lot of going back to check if I had the right shape. As usually neatness counts.

It also turned out really friendly to ripped pieces of paper since none of the outer edges are visible on the finished unit. Start color side down if you want to finish with it out. Looking at the unassembled units I am sure they are relatively easy to invert and would assemble. Providing an interesting line pattern, but it would still be one color.
