A tetrahedron assembled from three of Kunihiko Kasahara's pinwheel cube modules. Instructions can be found on page 138 of Tomoko Fuse's book "Unit Origami".
The model shown here is folded from 2"×2" duo-toned paper.
From "Modular Origami Polyhedra" by Simon, Arnstein, and Gurkewitz. Technically not a stellation of the octahedron, which would be a stella octangula: an octahedron with a regular tetrahedron added to each face. Nor is it a triakis octahedron, which has an obtuse triangular pyramid on each face. I'm not sure what a correct name for it is.
Proof that Chinese unit origami can be used for animals as well as inanimate objects. I made a chipmunk. I may stick on some facial features, but at the moment I like it how it is.
I made it in December, but it was burried with many other files for update. I hope I finally make an update soon.
But the more I look on it the more I think "Isnt't it a reinvented wheel?" (the answers are highly appreciated!)

Strange, but beautiful unit. Smth in between Jade and Neo-sonobe (in
principle)
The closed variant of Gloriosa. Has other connection method, closed back
(the back is solid) but the same base as Gloriosa flowers.

Stellated Icosahedron made from 30 Sonobe unit variants. I am sure someone must have made Sonobes like this before, but I have yet to find one on the web. I will put some clearer pictures of the units on my blog in the next few days. In my mind I am calling them "Side Pocket Sonobes".

I really like this one.
I have seen it in 1 side and 2 paper. I think it looks a lot better with dual sided paper it is really easy to get consistent results. I doubt it is overly durable. But i dont think it is going to explode sitting on the shelf.
I used 15 sheets of square Origami paper split into 1:2 rectangles for 30 pieces
I think it could be done with no glue, but after several hours og trying and failing

Фишка нижних звезд в том, что модуль изгибается. Держатся в звезде без клея и все вроде бы должно было бы предсказывать приличную сборку в многогранник, но многогранник рассыпается на мелкие кусочки....Мечтаю все же собрать его, склеить нафиг и гордо приименовать бумагопластикой. Ну в конце концов форма весьма необычная ;-) по крайней мере я и близко не видела =)
