It's made with 1:2 rectangle, but can actually be made with other proportion rectangle and with some angles varied during the folding. It will vary the angle of the pyramids and the size of the petals.
Yesterday I defended my thesis in mathematics. I hope I'll have more time for origami soon!

Since I don't have a tripod for my camera for now, I won't be able to make proper white-back pictures, but in exchange I have a lot of grass!

Lampshade
Using this simple device you can change the whole appearance of your interior. Just 30 simple units can add romance to the room. Very suitable as night lamps, for cafés or restaurants.
Can be used with power-sawing lamps (or with any other not very hot lamps). Just put the lamp inside the modular and turn it on. Some areas of modular show only one layer of the paper, so it will be a very light lamp.
Made of 30 rectangles of semi-transparent crisp paper, 10 x 12 cm each. The final size of the model is 20 cm.
Merits:
-Other paper proportions and sizes can also be used successfully
-Each unit is made with only 14 folds, so not only paper but very thick materials can be used for this modular.
-The folds can be easily made with special grooving equipment, so half-finished pieces for this modular can be produced industrially.
-You can make other geometrical forms: non-symmetrical or more complex.
-Units hold together very securely without any glue.
-Due to the possibility of the industrial production, you can use these units as the constructor set for children or their parents ;-)
-The lamp can be easily disassembled and transported as the set of flat pieces. Assembly and disassembly don’t affect the units badly.
Actually I didn’t have enough proper paper to make it big enough to be compatible with my lamp (my lamp is big), so I had to make “lighted” pictures with not closed from behind lamp. But I guarantee that with smaller lamps or with bigger units the lamp can be completely closed.
Thanks to organizers of the challenge, cause it forced me finally to make this lamp!

From "Modular Origami Polyhedra" by Simon, Arnstein, and Gurkewitz. Technically not a stellation of the octahedron, which would be a stella octangula: an octahedron with a regular tetrahedron added to each face. Nor is it a triakis octahedron, which has an obtuse triangular pyramid on each face. I'm not sure what a correct name for it is.

Franziska star and others (see notes)
I was folding these stars (http://www.flickr.com/photos/47032892@N07/5364200469/) when I understood, that they remind Franziska star(Carmen Sprung) with 5 rays... so I shanged some folds of my unit and... got the variation of Franziska with 5 points/ The difference is not quite seen, but one is nearly flat and other "nearly round"
Then I folded usual Franziska, but from 7 units (is is also beautifully 3-dimensional)/ Why don't people make it from 7 units? As for me it looks mush better and required less paper ;-)
