We went to check out the Union Square Winter Walk last Saturday. There was not much to see except a few tents set up with just a few vendors. We walked past this stage and saw this guy singing Christmas songs to a thin crowd. I applauded his effort and professionalism. This was the only photo I got out of that place before moving onto the giant Christmas tree near the center of the square.
I took this shortly after leaving Professor Cliff Mass' lecture at the UofW on Weather in the Pacific Northwest. This isn't the kind of calm I'd expect during a normal December.

Taken at McNeil, Texas. Three-image HDR composite, pushed a little for saturation to achieve a mildly surreal look. The sun was right and the sky beckoned HDR. I love these locomotives.
Union Station KC
Spent the night out with one of my daughters and she followed me around taking images of KC. We took in a pretty amazing sunset down by Union Station this night.

Union Pacific's C44ACM No. 7326 pulls the North Platte, Nebraska - West Colton, California manifest freight into Salt Lake City for a crew change the afternoon of Dec. 19. 2021. The service life of 7326 began in April 1998 as a C4460AC 'Convertible' locomotive. Union Pacific is having GE in Forth Worth, Texas rebuilt 1000 older GE locomotives into C44ACMs, installing the latest generation AC traction control systems, locomotive operating systems, electronic air brake and distributed power.
I took my son down to a sleep-away camp in Washington, DC. I spent 5 hours on the bus down, 5 hours walking around in the blistering heat, and then 5 hours on the bus back to NY. It was a long day.
Walking into the train/bus station, I passed this fellow, and I knew that with his cool look and this fabulous backdrop, I had to get a portrait. His name is Daryl, who was at the station to take the bus back home to Baltimore. He was very kind and cooperative. I took a whole bunch of shots, because the light was actually kind of challenging to work with. This one was rather underexposed SOOC, but I was able to fix it up in LR quite nicely.
By the way, I finally transitioned to LR4 (not 5!)...I'm always way behind the times when it comes to software...but I prefer it that way, as there are usually fewer bugs to deal with.
More Street Portraits
A R&LHS charter from Cheyenne to Ogden pulls into Green River for a service stop. Just behind the 844 is a MILW E-unit on the point of the City of Portland. This was a badly underexposed Kodachrome that I have brightened it up in Photoshop, producing a somewhat "painterly" image.
My brother-in-law and I went to Worcester, MA today to take photos of some of the more "famous?" locations in the city. This is a HDR shot of the inside of Union Station.
Union Pacific's 2734 & 7332 haul a loaded coal train through Cajon Pass, Sullivans Curve, Southern California 16th September 2018.
Union Pacific SD70ACe #8687 leads a Westbound 97 car loaded ballast train just West of De Beque, CO as it heads toward its destination of Grand Jct.
The 12,800 ton train is running with 3 engines on the front, 2 mid-train and another 2 engines on the rear end.
