Union Canal Panoramic . This is a montage of about 12 different pictures which I combined using a beta version of Photoshop CS3.This the Union Canal about half a mile east of Linlithgow Canal basin
With the Feather River Route closed because of a derailment and heavy snow causing traffic restrictions along Donner Pass, Dispatcher 9 was facing a serious challenge. Several westbound trains were stacked up along the #2 track, impeded by a stopped eastbound grain train at East Truckee.
All of these westbounds would have to wait until a fleet of eastbound trains cleared the Big Hole at Norden. Due to heavy snow accumulations, trains with auto rack cars were required to take the #1 track between Shed 10 and Norden.
Union Pacific 4173 was leading the fleet as it dragged a Chicago-bound auto train passed the MNPFR at East Truckee. The remnants of an overnight storm shrouded the snowcapped peaks of Donner Pass making for a picture-perfect morning in the High Sierras.

New Hampshire Northcoast's southbound rock train D8 from Ossipee Pit rolls across the beautiful New England landscape south of Wakefield. I was bummed about the leaser leading, but still a beautiful line to photograph.

The Union Bridge, River Tweed, Horncliffe, Northumberland.
The bridge is located on a minor road between Fishwick in Scotland and Horncliffe in Northumberland, a few miles west of Berwick.
When it was opened in 1820 it was the longest iron suspension bridge in the world and still carries light road traffic.

Union Pacific's Adams to Winona train operating over Soo Line trackage rights along the Mississippi River. When C&NW abandoned their own line between Winona and La Crosse they secured trackage right over the Milwaukee Road. This was later passed on to the UP. C30-7 2433 was a nice catch that day.
Union Pacific SD70m #4413 leads the Northbound/Eastbound Rocky Mountaineer on the Cane Creek Branch near a location called Lee.
It is filling in for a the other Rocky Mountaineer "patched" engine which was missing on this day.
Reenactors portray Union soldiers of the 3rd Vermont Infantry as part of the “Vermont at Cedar Creek Weekend” at Cedar Creek and Belle Grove National Historical Park.
We went to check out the Union Square Winter Walk last Saturday. There was not much to see except a few tents set up with just a few vendors. We walked past this stage and saw this guy singing Christmas songs to a thin crowd. I applauded his effort and professionalism. This was the only photo I got out of that place before moving onto the giant Christmas tree near the center of the square.
Yoga means union and came into my life in a time when I had to come back to surface after a long dive and connect pieces of mine. Parts of who I am, dark, unpleasant, and others that I was too insecure to be proud of. It was time for me to face those discoveries and let them fall into place. Union is not an easy process, it does not flow just like that, effortlessly. It takes strength to let go and let in. It takes soul to love, to unite the pieces. Be gentle. And honour the process.
No surface is strong enough to hide what you don't want to confront and release.

Union Pacific's 'Old Timer's Special' loads passengers at historic Ogden Union Station prior to departure for Green River, Wyoming on Sept. 25, 1976. UP E9A No. 951 was painted in 'Preamble Express' livery for the American Freedom Train which toured the United States in 1975 and 1976 to promote the bicentennial celebration.

An intermodal train passes thru Union Yard. The tower has since been razed and the Bungee Grain elevator complex in the background has been transformed into apartments. 2-8-03
Taken at McNeil, Texas. Three-image HDR composite, pushed a little for saturation to achieve a mildly surreal look. The sun was right and the sky beckoned HDR. I love these locomotives.

Spent the night out with one of my daughters and she followed me around taking images of KC. We took in a pretty amazing sunset down by Union Station this night.

Union Pacific's C44ACM No. 7326 pulls the North Platte, Nebraska - West Colton, California manifest freight into Salt Lake City for a crew change the afternoon of Dec. 19. 2021. The service life of 7326 began in April 1998 as a C4460AC 'Convertible' locomotive. Union Pacific is having GE in Forth Worth, Texas rebuilt 1000 older GE locomotives into C44ACMs, installing the latest generation AC traction control systems, locomotive operating systems, electronic air brake and distributed power.
