Mazda Recalls 270,000 Mazda6, Mazdaspeed6 and MPV Vehicles by James Jonsonn

Mazda is recalling 270,000 vehicles to replace explosive Takata airbag inflators, partially superseding two previous Takata recalls. Recalled are the following vehicles that will have their front passenger air bag inflators replaced nationwide.

2003-2008 Mazda Mazda6

2006-2007 Mazda Mazdaspeed6

2004 Mazda MPV

The automaker is also recalling 2005-2006 MPVs in the following locations:

Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan) and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Mazda says the Takata airbag inflators were used as original equipment or replacement equipment and all are capable of exploding in minor crashes.

The propellant used to deploy the airbags, ammonium nitrate, can become unstable due to heat, humidity and age. The chemical is inside the metal airbag inflators that explode similar to a grenade that sends sharp hot pieces of metal into vehicle occupants.

This latest recall partially supersedes a May 2016 Takata airbag recall of 732,000 Mazda vehicles and a January 2017 recall of about 94,000 vehicles.

The Takata airbag inflator recall is expected to begin in July 2018 when Mazda dealers will replace the front passenger air bag inflators with alternate inflators.

Firstly, we can bring you up to date on the current Covid-19 situation:

We have settled in to the “new normal” way of operating under the restrictions of the pandemic. We are able to offer full service dentistry under very safe conditions but it is not quite the same as it was. In particular:

• We have to have time separation between many of our appointments, so we are not operating at the same capacity as before and this means there may be a longer wait for your appointment booking. We are already heavily booked into January.

• Hygienist appointments are almost back to normal and we have opened up the online booking facility again. However, please note that our hygienists cannot use the powered instruments, so all appointments are hand scaling only. Also, we can only offer a very limited number of combined appointments (check up & hygiene) due to the changed booking procedures.

• Every patient needs to be pre-screened prior to the appointment and post-screened on the following day. This is a time consuming and repetitive procedure but it is a necessary requirement. For most people this is completed by sending a unique online link via email or SMS.

• Anyone with potential Covid-19 symptoms will have to have treatment delayed and must not come to the premises.

• Some of our most vulnerable patients may have to wait for routine appointments until the risk level has reduced.

We thank you for your patience and understanding with these changes.

Looking forward – we believe that we are unlikely to be completely shut down again (as in the Spring/Summer lockdown) because we have all the measures in place to be ‘Covid compliant’ BUT we are required to make a risk assessment for every person at each appointment. It is therefore possible that treatment may have to be delayed for some people if the risk level remains high or rises higher.

For Christmas and the New Year:

The practice will close at noon on Wednesday 23rd December and open again on Monday 4th January.

Emergency cover will be provided during this period by Jeremy as usual. Please either call the practice or see the notice on the door for details.

Only 81 days stand between us and the kick off to Movement Electronic Music Festival on Memorial Day weekend. Movement has long been considered a sort of “mecca” for many, a place where house and techno alike have come to thrive. No matter the year, Movement has always done their best to bring the city of Detroit alive and host an experience unique only to the birth place of techno.

At the end of January the long awaited lineup for 2019 was released and had many fans buzzing. Orbital is slotted to perform, this will be their first time playing in the city in nearly 20 years. A Volkswagen safety features lawsuit alleges certain 2016-2017 models have forward collision warning systems and automatic emergency braking systems that don't work properly at speeds over 18 mph.

Plaintiff Michael D' Amore claims Volkswagen's intentional misrepresentation of the safety systems makes the vehicles less valuable than the price for which they were sold.

The proposed class-action lawsuit seeks to include California residents who purchased or leased the following vehicles.

The lawsuit alleges VW puts customers in danger by misrepresenting the abilities of the safety features in nearly 100,000 vehicles sold in California.

According to the lawsuit, Mr. D'Amore returned his 2014 diesel Passat in 2016 because he intended on buying a 2017 Ford Fusion. However, he was told by employees at the Volkswagen dealership the 2017 Passat had the same safety features as the 2017 Fusion and that they could locate a 2017 Passat for him.

Specifically, like the 2016 before it, the 2017 Passat allegedly had autonomous braking at higher speeds. The lawsuit claims this feature was material to Mr. D'Amore's purchase of the 2017 Passat.

Mr. D'Amore says he purchased the 2017 Passat specifically because it contained safety features that provided for autonomous braking at speeds over 25 miles per hour.

The plaintiff claims Volkswagen never made the safety features available for vehicles traveling in excess of 25 miles per hour. Based on his personal experience while driving his 2017 Passat in excess of 25 miles per hour, Mr. D'Amore did not experience any warning (visual or auditory), nor did his vehicle engage the autonomous braking.

The plaintiff claims Volkswagen knows about the alleged problems based on results of tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

According to the lawsuit, not one affected VW vehicle tested by IIHS had any high-speed autobraking that would reduce the speed in a meaningful way with the vehicle traveling more than 25 mph.

The Volkswagen safety features lawsuit was filed in the Superior Court of the State of California, County of Ventura – Michael D' Amore, et al., v. Volkswagen Group of America, et al.

The plaintiff is represented by Moss Bollinger, LLP, and Neifert Khorshid, A PLC.

Mixed Martial Arts, or MMA, was made extremely popular with the beginning of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in 1993. In the early days of UFC, there were minimal safety rules, and it opened the doors for competitors of different fighting styles to compete with each other. The goal was to determine the ultimate existing fighting style, but it has evolved into its own form of competition, competing with boxing for pay per view ratings.The term, Mixed Martial Arts, is new, being first used by Jeff Blatnick, a Greco-Roman wrestler and Olympic gold medalist. The term was used to describe the events of UFC as he assisted in developing its safety rules. However, the idea behind MMA has a much more ancient history.MMA as a concept could be said to predate history, or even the existence of the human race. After all, even apes fight bare-handed. The first recorded accounts of what could be more specifically called MMA were in 648 BC. Then called Pankration, it was a no-holds-barred style of fighting introduced into the Olympic Games in that year. This went on to inspire the even more brutal and potentially lethal Etruscan and Roman Pancratium styles.In Roman times, Pancratium was featured at the Coliseum. It grew in popularity even into the Early Middle Ages. When she decided to turn producer, Priyanka Chopra decided to trace a unique path by entering the zone of regional film production. She hit a jackpot with the Marathi film Ventilator which went on to win the National award earlier this year and now it is all set to become a play.

While we rarely see a film taking to stage, we hear the popularity of Ventilator was the reason behind it being converted into a play. Interestingly, the Marathi film will be adapted in Gujarati language for the stage. Talking about the same, Priyanka Chopra’s mother Madhu Chopra who handles the production work of her company Purple Pebble Pictures revealed that popular theatre actor Rajesh Joshi will be helming the play. She also believes that he is the apt choice for the same owing to his similar sensibilities and is quite impressed with the way he has adapted the script for the play.

Furthermore, Madhu Chopra also asserted that there are no major changes in the story and the modifications are only to suit the stage. She also appreciated his script writing skills and stated that the dialogues and the scenes that she has read by far have indeed been written well.

Madhu also conveyed that Rajesh Mapuskar, who directed the film Ventilator, will be joining the theatre team as a creative consultant. So the producer beamed that with him on board, they [she and Priyanka] are assured that it is in safe hands.

Ventilator, which released last November, is all set to get staged for the first time this November. The rest of the details of the same are yet to be announced.

Fortnite is tapping into electronic music in a big way. This Saturday, Epic Games is set to throw an actual Marshmello show inside of the top-selling video game.

Forbes got its hands on the leaked information first, which details a new, in-game event called “Party at Pleasant Park.” According to the leak, the concert is set to take place this Saturday, February 2nd at 2PM ET, so clear your plans for the afternoon if you want to keep it Mello.

As Forbes reports, players will probably be able to see the lights and/or hear the music from anywhere on the map. At Pleasant Park, where the party takes place, respawns are enabled which means players will be able to kill each other during the party and come right back to continue enjoying the festivities.

New animations include a “DJ dancing,” so Marshmello will be getting his groove on. Object leaks show speakers, a full stage, lights and all the trimmings. This should look and feel like a real Marshmello show.

No doubt, “Party at Pleasant Park” is going to be quite a spectacle. With Marshmello being an avid Fortnite player himself, this is the perfect fit.

There are only so many techniques to achieve said “bright” smile in accordance to your teeth, and we’re here to talk about your options. Overall, hydrogen peroxide is going to be the key agent in breaking down stains on your teeth and polishing your smile.

Who’s a candidate?

Overall, teeth-whitening is a very low-risk procedure, which means it can suit a lot of different needs. Generally, the best candidates have mild to moderate discoloration. The following factors may rule out a patient from treatment:

Patients with porcelain veneers, dental crowns, or dental bonding. These circumstances don’t always allow for the most uniform teeth-whitening, and physical replacements sometimes have to be done to achieve the level or white or bright you want consistently around your mouth.

Types of whitening treatments

For candidates who are a good fit, the following options are all procedures a patient can use to whiten, dependent upon their budget:

Over-the-counter (OTC) – The cheapest from of tooth whitening can be convenient, but this also means it will be the least effective. Some of the over-the-counter options to brighten your smile include: toothpastes, gels, rinses, strips and pre-made whitening trays.

Take-home treatment– The cost of take-home trays will be dependent upon the cost of the materials, including the gel and how many treatments the dentist recommends, but will be much more effective than OTC options.

In-office– The cost will depend on the total number of sessions, and if you need advanced treatment, which can include laser. The greater investment does ultimately mean the strongest treatment your dentist is able to offer, and will reveal much more dramatic results using a combination of whitening gel and specially-formatted lights to achieve optimal results. Dr. Marchbanks may also send you home with the trays so you can perform treatments at home as well.

At the end of the day, everyone’s results will be different depending on the severity of the stains, the layer of the tooth the stains are on, plus lifestyle and dietary habits, oral care habits, the type of teeth-whitening system used, the number of treatments and consistent follow-up care.

Ramesh Taurani’s Race 3 starring Salman Khan is one of the hottest films in trade today. There is endless speculation surrounding it with also the news that Salman plays a role with grey shades in it. While Jacqueline Fernandez has been confirmed as one of the female leads in the film, there’s strong buzz that Daisy Shah will be the other. The actress has been telling friends in her close circle that she has signed a very big film but waiting for the announcement to come from the producer. What’s more interesting is that while Anil Kapoor won’t be a part of the third Race franchise directed by Remo D’Souza, a new addition to it may be Sooraj Pancholi, whom Salman is very fond of. The super star is reported to be calling the shots in the casting and production aspects as he has already got Remo D’Souza on board as director so Sooraj will be just another part of it.

Says a trade source, “Sooraj is very close to Salman and there’s buzz that apart from Daisy, the super star also wants Sooraj in the film. It’s a specially written role for the young actor and will see him doing lots of stylized action. Sooraj is extremely excited about it and has been telling his close friends and family about it. Salman is very protective of Sooraj ever since he launched him in his home production Hero and was planning to do another film with him again as he feels Sooraj is extremely talented but has never really got his due. Sooraj is immensely popular on social media and has a huge fan following (1.3 million on Instagram) and very popular with the youth. He recently accompanied Salman to the Da-Bangg shows in London and was a big hit there.”

However Anil Kapoor fans will be disappointed as the Mubarakan actor won’t be seen in Race 3. The source adds, “Race 3 is a completely different story from Race and Race 2 and Anil’s character is not there in Race 3. In the earlier Races, Anil had played Robert D’Costa aka RD, a private detective who acts stupid but is sharp and resourceful and quick and his appearance helps to unravel one lie after the other. It was one with grey shades but as the story line is completely different there is no scope for him to be in the film.”
