This Paul Cret design towers over the University of Texas campus. At 307 feet tall, this historic building is not only UT's but one of Austin's most distinguished landmarks.

Photo Details: 9 exposure HDR using Canon EOS 7D. Tonemapped using Photomatix's details enhancer option. Processed Photoshop to restore the clock in the tower. Then used Lightroom to increase clarity and crop.

Congress Avenue Bridge, Austin, Texas, April 17, 1979. The Ann W. Richards Congress Avenue Bridge (formerly known simply as the Congress Avenue Bridge) crosses over Lady Bird Lake (Colorado River) in Austin, Texas. The bridge was rehabilitated in 1979 and reoopened for use in 1980. The reconstruction made the bridge an ideal bat habitat and today the bridge is home to the largest urban bat colony in the world with 1.5 million Mexican Free-Tail Bats. Of course, this was shot on film - Tri-X on a Canonet QL-17.

This is another morning shot of the tower on the University of Texas campus in Austin.
I reposted this shot because I noticed the previous one was a little crooked. Sorry, but I'm trying to be better about these things. One of these days I'll open up my wallet and pay for the pro version of flickr so I can replace photos, but I'm still a little tight for that at this point. I'm saving for a sigma 10-20mm so please forgive...
When I returned home on Friday after Fun Fun Fun Fest, I happened to look out the north-facing windows of our condo (unit 2010 in the 360 Condominiums building) and noticed that the top of the The University of Texas Tower was lit orange. When the tower is illuminated with orange lighting, it typically signals a UT sports win or some other celebratory event. In this case, it was lighted orange in honor of a Texas Longhorns football win (59 to 20) against Kansas. (Apologies for the poor/grainy quality of this pic; my iPhone doesn't take very clear nighttime photos...) If you look closely, you'll see the UT Tower in the upper center of the photo; and you can see the Texas State Capitol building toward the far right of the frame.

The University of Texas tower is lit orange for the graduation ceremony and surrounded with fireworks.

A 360˚ panorama of the Tower and Main Building of the University of Texas at dusk. At either edge of the panorama beyond the statue of George Washington, one can look down the Main Mall and see a sliver of the Texas Capitol dome.
(Due to the high foot traffic through the plaza, getting shots without moving, i.e. blurred, people was difficult and as a result, the shots were taken over the course of over 30 minutes resulting in the unevenness of the hues in the sky. I'll have to try this one again some other time when the university is not in session. :-) )
The views of Austin from our condo are constantly evolving as new high-rises are erected throughout the downtown area, so I've gotten in the habit of taking photos of our ever-changing panoramas to show the changes over time. I took this north-facing shot from our balcony (unit 2010 in the 360 Condominiums building) on November 18, 2015. You can see how the landscape has changed if you compare this shot against a 2008 photo from when we first moved into the building.
By leaning over the edge of our balcony railing, I was able to capture the dome of the Texas State Capitol building at the far right of the frame. Toward the upper left, you can see the Seven apartment tower, while at the center right is the new IBC Bank Plaza. (A partial view of the Austin Federal Courthouse is visible near the lower right.) The shadowed patio partially visible along the bottom of the frame is our building's ''Capitol View Terrace,'' which is accessible only to residents who live on the 17th floor. Finally, if you look very closely at the upper center of the frame, you can make out the University of Texas Tower (between the black Dobie Center dorm tower and the flag-topped Moody Bank tower). Alas, the crane that is visible near the center of the frame is being used to construct yet another new residential tower, which means we will soon be losing our view of the UT Tower. :( So, we're trying to enjoy our view while we still can!

The UT Tower, a remarkable structure in itself. And has a quite a dark history behind it too, that being the reason for selected closure of the tower.
I took this photo, to emphasize the angle - standing on its diagonal. It so happened, that the sun was alos at a 90 degree angle to me, giving quite a contrast in light.
Suggestions for a crop are invited. I do not know how to crop the buildings at the bottom.
While Mike and I were relaxing at home on the evening of Saturday, May 20, we happened to glance through the balcony window of our condo (unit 2010 in the 360 Condominiums building) and saw that The University of Texas Tower was lit up orange and silhouetted by fireworks. We soon discovered that the orange illumination and fireworks display was in honor of UT's May 2017 graduating class.
