Some oddball fun pictures of the Least Bittern. I thought that there is something of more than a passing resemblance to "Beaker" from the Muppets. (Other than the hair colour)

Indian style stir fry egg noodles in mild dried squid sauce with tofu, potatoes, shrimp, egg, bean sprouts and peanuts.

In 1988 I was a cute and silly six year old little girl. My family had a farm where we'd go nearly every weekend and return home with the car loaded with tangerine and other farm goods. My brothers, cousins and I would paint our faces with urucum and run through the corn and manioc plantations, playing indian war using mamona.
We'd also be chased by turkeys, roosters, hen and geese when we tried to catch their chicklings or ducklings. Oh yes, good times!
But it was also then when I noticed the 88 butterflies and they became my very favorites. But, when the year 89 came, I was outraged by the fact that the 88 butterfly didn't update!! Seriously, I was maaaad! Lol. I used to think: "stpd butterfly, doesn't it realise we're in year 89 already? Why haven't it changed?"
Hm, so, I'm talking about the 88 here, because I was going to upload some 88 photos, but I was kind of upset with some comments saying that my late photos are nothing special, some said they are ordinary, some said they are mediocre... I'm fine with that, people are entitled to have their opinion and I'm not going to fuss at anybody for saying so, but this one e-mail did hurt me:
"Lately you have been uploading images that either poorly composed, thought about or poorly focused, especially images of butterflies. You shouldn't upload images that are this "common" and expect them to be on explore or receive lots of faves and comments. You have never uploaded images of high quality work(s) as those created by serious practitioners of their art. Your stream seems to be just your run of the mill "What I did today" repository for mediocre imagery. Keep the skill level high as we all expect to sell our work(s), not just show others how careless we can be. Respectfully, - "
I've suppressed his name because flickr doesn't like fingerpointing and because I really don't want him to receive backlash hate mails and comments, but that did hurt and made me afraid to upload photos. I might be pms'ing and more sensitive than usual, I'll probably get over it soon enough, but when I read it I almost cried. And this is a "contact" that I have nearly zero contact with, because he hardly ever comments on any of my photos and has obviously never faved any. I hadn't talked to him in a while and he just sent me this mail.

André Le Nôtre placed a full-size gilded version against the skyline at the far end of the main vista at Vaux-le-Vicomte.
The Farnese Hercules is an ancient sculpture, probably an enlarged copy made in the early third century AD by Glykon of an original of Lysippos or one of his circle, of the fourth century BC.,made for the Baths of Caracalla in Rome (dedicated in 216 AD), where it was recovered in 1546.
The heroically-scaled Hercules is one of the most famous sculptures of Antiquity, and has fixed the image of the mythic hero in the European imagination. It quickly made its way into the collection of Cardinal Alessandro Farnese, grandson of Pope Paul III. Alessandro Farnese was well placed to form one of the greatest collections of classical sculpture that has been assembled since Antiquity.

The Eastern State Penitentiary is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. For those who want to learn more about it click on the link above. What I find fascinating is the irony of how the best laid plans of men with the best of intentions could result in such abject cruelty. The skylights, like so many alterations were added over the years. Imagine how dark it must have been without them. In the distance a tour group can be seen in the shadows.

Fragola
Per fragola si intendono i frutti (in realtà si tratta di un falso frutto) delle piante del genere Fragaria a cui appartengono molte specie differenti.
Comunemente con questo termine si intende la parte edule della pianta: anche se le fragole sono considerate dei frutti dal punto di vista nutrizionale, non lo sono dal punto di vista botanico: i frutti veri e propri sono i cosiddetti acheni ossia i semini gialli che si vedono sulla superficie della fragola. La fragola viene considerata come un falso frutto perché non è altro che il ricettacolo ingrossato di un'infiorescenza, posizionata di norma su un apposito stelo. La pianta, al di fuori del sistema riproduttivo, ha sistemi di moltiplicazione non sessuale, come lo stolone, ramificazione laterale radicante per mezzo del quale può produrre nuovi cespi che sono di fatto cloni dello stesso individuo vegetale.
Le fragole oggi comunemente coltivate sono ibridi derivanti dall'incrocio tra varietà europee e varietà americane.
A very rusty example of the maligned (at the time) S2 version of the XJ6. No idea where this came from, the numberplate is local but this has clearly been in a garage for a long time. The house I saw this at does a lot of banger racing, but I never noticed this being stripped for race prep, maybe it was sold on? You'd have to be brave to even attempt a restoration of something like this.

www.google.com/search?q=pete+french+round+barn&ie=UTF... Pete French was a pioneer cattle baron in Eastern Oregon. Apparently he had quite a few of these modeled after similar barns in the midwest. They were constructed of two concentric circles. The outer ring was used to train horses and mules to work at harness. The core was used to house and feed and mares with foals during the harsh winters. The Pete French Round Barn is an Oregon State Park. The photo is a vertical floor to ceiling pano. As a one time carpenter I wanted to capture the framing details. Some timbers have been replaced and the barn partially restored.
