Ruins just south of Stein Inn on the Isle of Skye. Can't you just imagine this having been a home for a farmer's family in a fictional book of Scotland set back in the 1600s? I've just started reading the "Highlander" series, based in Scotland, so going through my photos is a great connection to the story.
After touring the Isle of Skye all day we called our hosts at Dunvegan Inn and asked where would be a good place to eat dinner between Borve and Dunvegan. They suggested Stein Inn, and it was a very good suggestion. We had to eat in the bar area, seated on low seats with a low table for our food. Finally we saw lamb on the menu and all wanted the same meal. However, the waiter said there was only one of those available, but they had another lamb item on the menu the other two of us could have. Marjorie and I decided to reward the drive, Will, with the one we had all wanted. Turns out his was amazingly tender, moist, and succulent. Ours were OK compared to his.
When we were leaving Marjorie saw the waiter leave with a dish of what we had all wanted, but there wasn't enough of. He saw her looking at the plate and at least looked shame-faced as he sat at the picnic table outside.

south and east of the bad little falls in machias, you'll find jasper beach in machiasport, maine.
of course, if you're visiting jasper beach, you might rightly expect to find some jasper, but it occurred to us that none of us could identify jasper if it hit us on the head. which, i think, is the same reaction we had the last time we went to the beach. but, hey, it's still a grand time looking for coole rocks even if they aren't jasper. a grand time, that is, once you get past the fact that the ocean is take-your-breath-away freezing even in august. and the stone beach can be a little rough on tender feet :-)
*I am on the hunt for a good Seafood Cocktail and a yummy Campechana (mexican seafood soup)
Not very often do I give a bad food review, but I have to say I was very disapointed in this soup, it was lackluster and sleepy.
The octopus was resonstituted, was chewy in a bad way. It had 5 clams only 2 of which opened up, so I didnt dare eat the others.
Had a few tiny bits of fish I mean very small, and 4 shrimp?
It had one huge pointless token hunk of a carrot and potato, sigh....
mostly bland watery fishy broth. I was so sad and unsatisfied by the end of my meal...
* $16.00
BUT, on the flip side, we do eat there occasionally and I do like thier food in general,
I just do not recommend this soup.
this was not a quality dish in my humble opionion.

According to their Website:
"Built in 1882, this historical building was once the original Louisiana National Bank where most of the city's post-Civil War planters and merchants kept their money. Since then, it's housed an insurance company, dress shop and even served as a residence. The building's basement area was home to two of Baton Rouge's most famous and longstanding watering holes, Rip's Huddle, which opened in 1955 and The Thirsty Tiger, which operated from around 1977 to 2007."
But wait! There's more:
"Formerly the Thirsty Tiger —one of Baton Rouge’s most famous watering holes —Willie’s On The River is named after the ghost that reportedly haunts the building. Willie was a stable hand who was killed in 1848, when he was crushed by a falling wall at what is now the site of the bar. Patrons and employees claim Willie never left, so we decided to name this place after him and give him a permanent home. Cheers, Willie!"
Old school nokia 5800. The keys don't light up and it has no camera. Other than that it's a good phone. My wife is using it right now.
