[Kouri Island]
Kouri Island, where Hanalee Villa Kouri is located, is an island of about 8km in the northern part of Okinawa Prefecture, Japan, surrounded by the wonderful blue sea. Although it was separated from the main island of Okinawa by the sea, the Kouri Bridge was completed in 2005, and it is now possible to come and go by land via Yagaji Island connected by a bridge from the main island of Okinawa.

Naturreservatet Silverfallen- Karlsfors
Vid Silverfallet kastar sig ett vattenfall 60 m utför bergskanten. Tre bergarter går naturligt i dagen vid bäcken. Vattnet rinner fram över kalkstenshällar och mitt i fallet passeras brottytor av alunskiffer. På sandstenshällarna planar fallet ut.
Historia
Vid Karlsfors fanns under 1800-talets första hälft Skaraborgs största alunbruk. Efter nedläggning ersattes detta av kalkbränning. Hela området bär spår efter brytning av alunskiffer och kalksten med lämningar som till exempel rödfyrhögar och kalkugnar.
Större delen av sluttningen vid Silverfallet-Karlsfors består av ädellövskog som har en tydligt kalkpåverkad flora. Vårblomningen är ymnig med blåsippa, smånunneört, lungört och sällsynta inslag av gulsippa. På rödfyrhögarna växer framförallt björk och sälg.
Även de mindre partierna med öppen betesmark har en rik flora med klasefibbla, stor blåklocka, brudbröd och spåtistel. I Silverfallets vattenfall finns stora mängder rutlungmossa och kvarn-bäckmossa. Forsärla och strömstare häckar vid fallet.
Uppströms vidtar sumpskogar, flera mindre bäckar och ett varierat odlingslandskap. Tibast är vanligt förekommande i de fuktiga markerna. Silverfallet är ett av de mest populära utflyktsmålen i Skövde. En vintervandring upp längs fallets isformationer är också spännande.

En populärt utflyktsmål under våren
Området är särskilt välbesökt på våren då vattenfallet och den rika lundfloran med bl a blåsippor, lungört, smånunneört, vårlök och svalört är mycket sevärd. I lövskogen sjunger härmsångaren och grönsångaren. Under sommaren torkar bäcken ut helt.

Before we made it to Chung King, we first met up with Jeni and Dylan at Luscious Dumplings. After beef noodle soup and two rounds of dumplings, we headed to Chung King for Szechaun fish something (pictured), smokey bacon and their cold, spicy deli dishes (the "banchan").
