A photographer down on the shingle spit below the Bayside Cafe taking a photo of the CVN75 USS Harry S Truman aircraft carrier. I just thought it was good to have him in the foreground with Osborne House bathing in the early morning sunshine!
His trousers seem to be colour coordinated with Osborne House! :)

USS Harry S Truman, anchored at The Solent, off the town of Lee-On-The-Solent, near Gosport, Hampshire, England, United Kingdom, on Sunday 7th October 2018.
Why I took the photographs?
The United States Navy’s Nimitz Class aircraft carrier, USS Harry S Truman, registry number CVN-75, was anchored at The Solent, an area of sea between England and Isle of Wright, during a stopover while on her way to Norway. Upon hearing the news about it in various sources like BBC News, Twitter, etc., and that the weather is likely to be good and clear, I made a decision to go there.
I asked my teenager son if he would be interested in coming with me to visit and see it, plus suggested to him that afterwards, we could have a day out at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard at the Royal Navy’s HM Naval Base Portsmouth, so he agreed, and we got into my Land Rover and went there.
I’m a fan of anything naval, normally a fan of the Royal Navy but also enjoy US Navy, and any other nation’s own navies. I want to make it clear, I’m not a die-hard expert on the subject of navy, just an average navy supporter. I’ve seen most of our Royal Navy ships over the past years, but I’ve yet to see an American ship or other warships belonging to any other nations, and that was a chance for me to get to see one of their Nimitz Class carriers.
About this photograph.
The USS Harry S Truman was having a stopover on her way to Norway, and she was anchored roughly about in the middle between the English coastline and the Isle of Wright, which you could see in the background of the wide views. The weather was clear and sunny, which makes it prefect to see the carrier.
I took the photos with my 28-200mm zoom and for the photographs where the EXIF data says the camera is a Nikon D200 but is missing the lens data, those would have been taken with the manual focus 500mm mirror lens mounted on the D200 via a T2 adaptor which is why the lens data is missing, because it was a manual focus lens.
You may notice the police boat near the bow of the carrier, for the purpose of escorting and guarding the carrier during her stopover. Many other ships, yachts, and boats are likely to be allowed around the carrier, or sailing by, as long as they stay away at a set distance from the warship. I heard that some ships were chartered to ferry passengers out to the sea, for the purpose of getting a closer view.
About the (overall) subject.
The USS Harry S Truman is the eighth Nimitz Class carrier, and was commissioned on 25th July 1998. She was named after the 33rd President of the United States. For more details, you could look it up on Wikipedia.
The reason for her stopover was because she was on her way from America to Norway, to take part in a NATO exercise called Exercise Trident Juncture 18 which took part between 25th October to 23rd November of 2018. During the stopover, some sailors were granted short leave (so I heard) as is usual for many navies.
Conditions this morning were a lot better than yesterday for viewing CVN75, the USS Harry S Truman. Here till Wednesday for some shore leave.
This 5 shot panorama gives some detail of the size of the ship with overall length of 1,092 feet (332.8 m); Waterline length of 1,040 feet (317.0 m), Beam Overall: 252 ft (76.8 m) and at the Waterline: 134 ft (40.8 m), Draft: 37 feet (11.3 m) and displacement of 103,900 long tons. Apparently carries up to 90 aircraft and helicopters.
