Photograph taken at an altitude of One thousand, one hundred and twenty six metres at 15:38pm on Saturday 13th September 2014 , around six hours into aour scenic road trip. Having departed Adams Lake, we have pased through Chase and Revelst, then through Salmon Arm and Kamloops, Cache Creek and Crown Lake and Lillooet. Here, we look towards Duffey Lake on Duffey Lake Road Highway 99.

  

The Duffey Lake Road is a scenic highway which forms part of an automobile touring route called the Coast Mountain Circle Tour. This route forms a Seven hundred Kilometre circle from Vancouver and takes between two and four days to enjoy all of the sights. We were heading for a three day stop at the Crystal Lodge Hotel in Whistler Village, in the South Pacific Ranges of Coast Mountains in the province of British Columbia, Canada.

The Storr (Gaelic: An Stòr), is a rocky hill on the Trotternish Peninsula on the Isle of Skye with a steep rocky eastern face overlooking the Sound of Raasay, contrasting with gentler grassy slopes to the west.The Old Man of Storr rises to 535 metres and is visibile from the main road between Portree and Staffin on the west coast of Skye. Dominating the scene and visible fom many more parts of the islands the Storr is the hill immediately west of the Old Man and rising to 719 metres with xdcramatic cliffs on its eastern flank.

The Champ de Mars (Field of Mars), is a large park located in the Seventh arrondissement between the Eiffel Tower to the Northwest and Ecole Militaire to the Southeast. It was named after Campus Martius in Rome, Italy. It originally measured 42 hectares, but was reduced by architect Jeran-Camille Fromige for the 1890 World Exposition.

  

The Eiffel Tower was originally designed by Gustave Eiffel and constructed between 1887-1889 as the entrance to the worlds fair in that year. It is now the worlds most visited paid monument, standing 324 metres tall (1,063ft) with three floors and eight lifts and was the tallest building in the world from 1889 to 1930.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Fifty eight metres at 13:48pm on a beautiful summer afternoon on Monday 7th June 2021,of an adult Wood pigeon (Columba palumbus), off Hythe Avenue and Chessington Avenue in Bexleyheath, Kent.

  

Wood pigeons are the largest and most common pigeon in the UK, and forms part of the Dove and pigeon family, genus Columba, family Columbidae. Known locally as the 'Culver' in Southeast England, they are also called Cushy-do and Quist as well as Woody and their name is often written in two forms, either as Woodpigeon or as Wood pigeon. Polumbus is the ancient Greek for “a diver”, derived from kolumbao meaning “to dive, swim, or plunge”. κόλυμβος is the Ancient Greek for Columba, which means “a diver”. These game birds are a protected by The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and with over five and a half million breeding pairs in the UK, they are classed as he UK conservation status, meaning they are of least concern.

 

They can weigh between 480-550g with a length from 40-42cm and a wingspan of 75-80cm.The common wood pigeon was originally described by Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus (Carl Von Linne after his ennoblement) in his 1758 and 1759 tenth editions of 'SYSTEMA NATURAE', where it was placed with all the other pigeons in the genus Columba and coined the binomial name Columba palumbus which is from the Latin palumbes for a wood pigeon. Of the five subspecies recognised worldwide, the Madeira species is now extinct.

 

Wood pigeon is also eaten regularly in the UK, a meaty bird with a distinctive deep gamey flavour. It is low in fat and high in protein and iron with a delicate texture that can be enjoyed at any time of the year. Commercially bought whole Wood pigeons sell from as little as a few pounds each.

I was originally enrolled into the GETTY IMAGES collection as a contributor on April 9th 2012, and when links with FLICKR were terminated in March 2014, I was retained and fortunate enough to be signed up via a second contract, both of which have proved to be successful with sales of my photographs all over the world now handled exclusively by them.

    

On November 12th 2015 GETTY IMAGES unveiled plans for a new stills upload platform called ESP (Enterprise Submission Platform), to replace the existing 'Moment portal', and on November 13th I was invited to Beta test the new system prior to it being officially rolled out in December. ESP went live on Tuesday December 15th 2015 and has smoothed out the upload process considerably.

  

These days I take a far more leisurely approach to my photographic exploits, and having moved from professional Nikon equipment to consumer bodies and lenses, I travel light less constraints and more emphasis on the pure capture of the beauty that I see, more akin to my original persuits and goals some five decades previously when starting out. Here we see an Egyptian goose (Alopochen Aegyptiaca) taking a snooze whilst perched on one leg on the lake in St James's Park. These were once considered sacred by the ancient Egyptians, appearing in much of their artwork. They are native to Africa South of the Sahara.

  

Spanning an area of 350 acres, the park is divided by the Serpentine and the Long water lakes, and was created by King Henry VIII in 1536 as hunting ground. It opened to the public in 1637 and was extensively improved under Queen Caroline in the early eighteenth century. The Great exhibition for which the Crystal Palace was erected, designed by Joseph Paxton, was also held here.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Fifty two metres at 16:03pm on a beautiful summer afternoon on Tuesday 8th June 2021,of an adult Eurasian Collared dove (Steptopelia decaocto), off Hythe Avenue and Chessington Avenue in Bexleyheath, Kent.

  

The Eurasian Collared dove is from the Pigeons and doves family and protyected in the UK by The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 with a current green UK 'of least concern' conservation status thanks to more than 990,00 breeding pairs.

  

They measure 32cm in length with a 51cm wingspan and can weigh 200g.They first came to the UK in 1955 when bred in Norfolk, previously being confined to Turkey and the Balkans before 1930 as well as parts of China. After that, it spread quickly Northwest across Europe and also resides North of the Arctic circle in Norway, the Canary Islands and Morocco. .It was also introduced to Japan, North America and some Caribbean Islands.

  

The name Columba decaocto was proposed by Hungarian born botanist and entomologist Dr Emerich Frivaldszky von Frivald, in 1838. The female lays two white eggs and incubates them at night for between 14-18 days, the male incubating them during the day. Though not as bold as feral and Wood pigeons, the pairs that feed in my garden like to be together and prefer the safety of a bird feeder.

  

They live for around three years with one recorded at seventeen, and have been recorded flying over 600 Kilometres from their birth place. They are monogamous birds.

Spanning an area of 350 acres, the park is divided by the Serpentine and the Long water lakes, and was created by King Henry VIII in 1536 as hunting ground. It opened to the puiblic in 1637 and was extensively improved under Queen Caroline in the early righteenth century. The Great exhibition for which the Crystal Palace was erected, designed by Joseph Paxton, was also held here.

Hyacinthoides non-scripta (formerly Endymion non-scriptus or Scilla non-scripta), has a long association with British woodland areas, and is a bulbous perennial plant, known also as the Common Bluebell or Bluebell.

  

After weeks of self isolation due to the global pandemic that we know as COVID-19 Coronavirus, we are allowed to go out for exercise once per day and keep away from others. A walk in the local woodlands before the rain came today to taste the fresh air and get my limbs moving again.

Here we see an adult Great Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo)a bird found in many parts of the world with different sizes and names. It is known as the black shag in New Zealand and formerly also known as the great black cormorant across the Northern Hemisphere, the black cormorant in Australia, and the large cormorant in India,the genus name is Latinised Ancient Greek, from φαλακρός (phalakros, "bald") and κόραξ (korax, "raven"), and carbo is Latin for "charcoal".

Photograph taken at an altitude of One metre at 10:00am on Sunday 18th April 2021, of Pearl, my mum's characterful little Shih Tzu ('Lion' in Chinese),chilling out in the shade of her garden off Woolacombe Road in Blackheath, South East London. Chessington Avenue in Bexleyheath, Kent.

  

Pearl came to mum at the age of two years, from Pro Dogs, an excellent registered charity since 2006 and nationwide champion of neglected, abandoned and unwanted puppies and dogs who also save those cruelly mistreated in puppy farms and try to make the transition from foster homes to new loving owners through a system of vetting and medical treatments where necessary.

  

Pearl arrived in a dreadful state, emaciated and neglected but found a lovely home with my mum and dad. She is a little bundle of fun, acts like a teenager and has a lie in bed every morning, and loves the garden where she watches the birds and spends a lot of her time. Shih Tzu's hail originally from China, possibly a cross breed between the Pekinhese and Lhasa Apso, known as 'Tibetan lion dogs', a Tibetan breed of dog given by the Dalai Lama to Emperors of China towards the end of the Seventeenth century. Their life span is between ten and fifteen years, the oldest on record living until is was Twenty three.

Photograph taken at 18:00pm on September 8th 2012 off Borrowdale Road B5289 and Lake Road on the shoreline of Strandshag Bay on Derwentwater near to the Lakeland market town of Keswick, one of the Northern most in the Lake District, Cumbria, England.

  

There is something organic and alive about the rowing boats for hire on the lake here. The sunlight reveals the texture of the wood, and the years life on the water reveal themselves in pitted marks, gauges and varnish layers which give each an individuality that makes them so appealing.

I was originally enrolled into the GETTY IMAGES collection as a contributor on April 9th 2012, and when links with FLICKR were terminated in March 2014, I was retained and fortunate enough to be signed up via a second contract, both of which have proved to be successful with sales of my photographs all over the world now handled exclusively by them.

  

On November 12th 2015 GETTY IMAGES unveiled plans for a new stills upload platform called ESP (Enterprise Submission Platform), to replace the existing 'Moment portal', and on November 13th I was invited to Beta test the new system prior to it being officially rolled out in December. (ESP went live on Tuesday December 15th 2015 and has smoothed out the upload process considerably).

  

With visits now in excess of 16.523 Million to my FLICKR site, used primarily these days as a fun platform to reach friends and family as I have now sold my professional gear and now take a more leisurely approach to my photographic exploits, I would like to say a huge and heartfelt 'THANK YOU' to FLICKR, GETTY IMAGES and everyone who drops by.

The Champ de Mars (Field of Mars), is a large park located in the Seventh arrondissement between the Eiffel Tower to the Northwest and Ecole Militaire to the Southeast. It was named after Campus Martius in Rome, Italy. It originally measured 42 hectares, but was reduced by architect Jeran-Camille Fromige for the 1890 World Exposition.

  

The Eiffel Tower was originally designed by Gustave Eiffel and constructed between 1887-1889 as the entrance to the worlds fair in that year. It is now the worlds most visited paid monument, standing 324 metres tall (1,063ft) with three floors and eight lifts and was the tallest building in the world from 1889 to 1930.

The Eurasian Collared dove is from the Pigeons and doves family and protected in the UK by The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 with a current green UK 'of least concern' conservation status thanks to more than 990,00 breeding pairs.

  

They measure 32cm in length with a 51cm wingspan and can weigh 200g.They first came to the UK in 1955 when bred in Norfolk, previously being confined to Turkey and the Balkans before 1930 as well as parts of China. After that, it spread quickly Northwest across Europe and also resides North of the Arctic circle in Norway, the Canary Islands and Morocco. .It was also introduced to Japan, North America and some Caribbean Islands.

  

The name Columba decaocto was proposed by Hungarian born botanist and entomologist Dr Emerich Frivaldszky von Frivald, in 1838. The female lays two white eggs and incubates them at night for between 14-18 days, the male incubating them during the day. Though not as bold as feral and Wood pigeons, the pairs that feed in my garden like to be together and prefer the safety of a bird feeder.

  

They live for around three years with one recorded at seventeen, and have been recorded flying over 600 Kilometres from their birth place. They are monogamous birds.

Also known as the rose-ringed parakeet (Psittacula krameri), a medium sized parrot in the genus Psittacula of the family Psittacidae with native ranges in South Asia and Africa originally. Brought to the United kingdom and Europe as caged exhibit ornamental birds, inevitably some escaped and began breeding and in 1969 in Kent, small colonies emerged. There are now more than 8,600 breeding pairs in the UK.

Spanning an area of 350 acres, the park is divided by the Serpentine and the Long water lakes, and was created by King Henry VIII in 1536 as hunting ground. It opened to the puiblic in 1637 and was extensively improved under Queen Caroline in the early righteenth century. The Great exhibition for which the Crystal Palace was erected, designed by Joseph Paxton, was also held here.

I was originally enrolled into the GETTY IMAGES collection as a contributor on April 9th 2012, and when links with FLICKR were terminated in March 2014, I was retained and fortunate enough to be signed up via a second contract, both of which have proved to be successful with sales of my photographs all over the world now handled exclusively by them.

    

On November 12th 2015 GETTY IMAGES unveiled plans for a new stills upload platform called ESP (Enterprise Submission Platform), to replace the existing 'Moment portal', and on November 13th I was invited to Beta test the new system prior to it being officially rolled out in December. (ESP went live on Tuesday December 15th 2015 and has smoothed out the upload process considerably).

Teslin Lake has a length of seventy five miles, spaning the border between British Columbia and the Yukon Territory. The name 'Teslin' means 'Long water'. In the distance is Mt Lorne in Yukon Territory.

Photograph taken at 11.02am on April 29th 2010 at an altitude of Two hundred and fifty nine metres, off of Island Highway 1, having walked along the almost dry river bed which runs through Goldstream Provincial Park, on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

  

Having walked from Niagara Falls waterfall at Niagara falls Creek, which drops forty seven and a half metres much like it's famous namesake, we are now on an ever steepening trek up to Niagara Canyon Bridge (Cisco Bridge over the Fraser River) and soon to enter private property after which point we are officially trespassing.

  

Established on June 26, 1958, this 477 hectares park is seventeen kilometres from Downtown Victoria, and is renowned for it's old growth temperate rain forest with 600 year old Douglas firs, and the location for the annual Chum Salmon spawning where Eagles await the returning fish and the cycle of life is played out to a violent, though wondrous climax.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Eighteen metres, at 12:36pm on Monday 4th November 2019, off Hyde Park Corner and Park Lane A4202 in the grounds of Hyde park, a Grade 1 listed Royal Park (the largest of) of London.

  

Here we see an adult Greylag goose (Anser anser), which are large waterfowl, measuring up to 36 inches in length and up to 3.3kgs. It was first described by Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus in 1758, and Greylags sometimes Hybridize with Barnacle goose, Canada goose and Mute Swan.

  

Spanning an area of 350 acres, the park is divided by the Serpentine and the Long water lakes, and was created by King Henry VIII in 1536 as hunting ground. It opened to the puiblic in 1637 and was extensively improved under Queen Caroline in the early righteenth century. The Great exhibition for which the Crystal Palace was erected, designed by Joseph Paxton, was also held here.

The Coyote (Canis latrans) is also known as the Prairie wolf and brush wolf and is native to North America. It is smaller than it's closest relative, the Gray wolf and also the Eastern wolf and red wolf and is also called 'The American jackal' by Zoologists. With 19 Coyote sub species, a male can weigh up to 20kgs, two kgs heavier than the females. Sadly for the coyote, public perception and ancient folklore have labelled the Coyote as deceptive and untrustworthy in comparison to other wolves which are revered.

This photograph was taken an altitude of FOUR hundred and eighty six metres, at 16:19pm on Wednesday May 11th 2016 past Liard River Hot springs at Mile 475 on the Alaska Highway 97, heading towards Smith River Fort Halkett Protected area in British Columbia, Canada.

 

This is a large adult American Black Bear (Ursus Americanus), a medium sized bear native to North America, and found in abundance in the Yukon territory and Alaska. Black bears have a small tail, up to nine inches long foot length and males can weigh up to 250kgs.

 

On my trip I encountered several bears and, although it is strongly recommended that you do not leave your vehicle to photograph these beautiful wild animals, needless to say, with care and caution I did just that to capture my photographs.

  

My safety rules were simple. I always left a healthy distance between myself and the Bears, always had a large SUV between the bear and myself, never upset, endangered or threatened the wildlife and read their body language very carefully.

This photograph was taken at 14:00pm on Thursday 19th May 2016 at Barkerville historic town and park, Northern British Columbia, Canada, which features over 125 heritage buildings dating back to the 1860's and named after William 'Billy' Barker, who was one of the first successful Gold diggers of the era. It was declared a National Heritage site of Canada in 1924 and a Provincial Heritage property in 1958, now attracting around 60,000 visitors a year.

  

This horse was one of six used to pull a stage coach around and through the town (I took a ride for $8 and loved every second), formerly founded by Francis Jones Barnard for his B X Express freighting company which was the main cartage and pasenger service on the Cariboo wagon road.
