Photograph taken at an altitude of Twenty One metres, at 14:20pm on Monday 4th November 2019, off Hyde Park Corner and Park Lane A4202 in the grounds of Hyde park, a Grade 1 listed Royal Park (the largest of) of London.

The Jay (Garrulus glandarius) is a member of the crow family and despite being the brightest coloured of the species, it is elusive and harder to spot at times. They are found in around 170,000 breeding territories in the UK and are around 35cms in length with a wingspan of up to 58cms.

Spanning an area of 350 acres, the park is divided by the Serpentine and the Long water lakes, and was created by King Henry VIII in 1536 as hunting ground. It opened to the puiblic in 1637 and was extensively improved under Queen Caroline in the early righteenth century. The Great exhibition for which the Crystal Palace was erected, designed by Joseph Paxton, was also held here.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Thirty eight metres at 07:34am on a cold but bright morning on Wednesday 12th May 2021, off Chessington Avenue in Bexleyheath, Kent.

Here we see a poor Female Starling (Sturnus vulgaris) having to deal with her brood of three juveniles, which she has worked so hard to keep fed and watered against the odds and chances of predation. Starlings are Passerines and despite being a common sight in UK gardens, their decline elsewhere sees them on the red conservation list.

After weeks of self isolation due to the global pandemic that we know as COVID-19 Coronavirus, we are allowed to go out for exercise once per day and keep away from others. A walk in the misty meadows today to taste the fresh air and get my limbs moving again.

Photograph taken at 07:20am on Thursday 3rd January 2013 off the A4 beside one of the four bronze Lion statues that guard Nelson's Column, and overlooking the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square, Central London, England.

The bronze lions were added to the square in 1867, some twenty four years after Nelson's statue was originally raised. Designed by William Railton, the lions were said to be styled on his dog and a cat, as he'd never seen a lion, hence the tongues hanging out of the lions mouths dog style.

I was originally enrolled into the GETTY IMAGES collection as a contributor on April 9th 2012, and when links with FLICKR were terminated in March 2014, I was retained and signed up via a second contract, both of which have proved to be successful with sales of my photographs all over the world now handled exclusively by them.

On November 12th 2015 GETTY IMAGES unveiled plans for a new stills upload platform called ESP (Enterprise Submission Platform), to replace the existing 'Moment portal', and on November 13th I was invited to Beta test the new system prior to it being rolled out to the general public in December. (ESP went live on Tuesday December 15th 2015).

With visits now in excess of 16.30 Million to my FLICKR site, used primarily these days as a platform to reach friends and family, prospective clients and fellow Flickerinos, I would like to say a huge and heartfelt 'THANK YOU' to FLICKR, GETTY IMAGES and everyone who drops by.

Photograph taken in the golden hour around sunrise at 06:12am on August 27th 2011 off Beacon Avenue and 1st Street from the pier in beautiful Sidney by the sea on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

The Bevan Avenue fishing pier is one of the main focal points in Sidney, and Work commenced on the pier in 1993 with Phase one, a 90 metre straight section being completed in 1996. A year later the 110 metre Phase two section was completed.

In the distance we see Mt Baker in Washington State, USA . Known to the Lummi First nation people ( Lhaq'temish) as Kwelshán ('Shooting place' in Nooksack), to the Halkomelem as Kwelxá:lxw, to Lushootseed speakers along the Skagit River as Teqwúbe7 “snow-capped peak'', to the Nooksack language as Kweq’ Smánit (“white mountain'') and also known as Koma Kulshan, (pronounced kō-ō’mah’ kool-shän’), the name for the Middle Fork which originates from the glaciers such as Deming and Thunder on the western slopes, she is an active glaciated andesitic stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc and the North Cascades of Washington State in the United States, standing 3,286 metres tall and was first ascended in 1868, her last eruption recorded in 1880.

The name Mount Baker first appeared in print in Captain Vancouver’s 1798 narrative of his voyage around Vancouver Island. Legend has it that his third-lieutenant, Joseph Baker, was the first to spot the mountain while they sailed into Dungeness Bay on April 30th, 1792.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Forty eight metres at 15:10pm on a cold but bright morning on Tuesday 11th May 2021, of an adult Wood pigeon (Columba palumbus), off Hythe Avenue and Chessington Avenue in Bexleyheath, Kent.

Wood pigeons are the largest and most common pigeon in the UK, and forms part of the Dove and pigeon family, genus Columba, family Columbidae. Known locally as the 'Culver' in Southeast England, their name is often written in two forms, either as Woodpigeon or as Wood pigeon. Polumbus is the ancient Greek for “a diver”, derived from kolumbao meaning “to dive, swim, or plunge”. κόλυμβος is the Ancient Greek for Columba, which means “a diver”.

These game birds are a protected by The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and with over five and a half million breeding pairs in the UK, they are classed as he UK conservation status, meaning they are of least concern.

They can weigh between 480-550g with a length from 40-42cm and a wingspan of 75-80cm.The common wood pigeon was originally described by Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus (Carl Von Linne after his ennoblement) in his 1758 and 1759 tenth editions of 'SYSTEMA NATURAE', where it was placed with all the other pigeons in the genus Columba and coined the binomial name Columba palumbus which is from the Latin palumbes for a wood pigeon. Of the five subspecies recognised worldwide, the Madeira species is now extinct.

Wood pigeon is also eaten regularly in the UK, a meaty bird with a distinctive deep gamey flavour. It is low in fat and high in protein and iron with a delicate texture that can be enjoyed at any time of the year. Commercially bought whole Wood pigeons sell from as little as a few pounds each.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Nine metres, at 13:37pm on Monday May 20th 2019, on a beautifully warm and sunny morning off Birdcage Walk and Horse Guards Road in the grounds of St James's Park. Situated in the City Of Westminster, the Park spans twenty three Hectares and is the oldest of the Royal Parks of London, with a variety of visiting and nesting birds that include Ducks, Canada Geese and Pelicans.

This is a Greylag Goose (Anser anser), which when fully adult can measure up to three feet in length and weigh 3.3kgs. European and Asian birds migrate Southwards to warmer climates in the winter, and it's ancestors were domesticated as early as the fourteenth century BC.

This photograph was taken an altitude of Nine hundred and thirteen metres, at 14:10pm on Sunday May 15th 2016 off the Alaska Highway 1 close to Morley Lake on the way to Teslin in British Columbia, Canada.

This is a large adult American Black Bear (Ursus Americanus). Native to North America, and found in abundance in the Yukon territory and Alaska, Black bears have a small tail, up to nine inches long foot length and males can weigh up to 250kgs. On my trip I encountered several bears and, although it is strongly reccommended that you do not leave your vehicle to photograph these beautiful wild animals, needless to say, with care and caution I did just that to capture my photographs.

I was originally enrolled into the GETTY IMAGES collection as a contributor on April 9th 2012, and when links with FLICKR were terminated in March 2014, I was retained and fortunate enough to be signed up via a second contract, both of which have proved to be successful with sales of my photographs all over the world now handled exclusively by them.

I was very fortunate to witness several Mother Bald Eagles (Haliaeetus Leucocephalus) as they taught their youngsters how to hunt for American Crows which had nested just nearby, an amazing spectacle. The youngsters watched mum and then one by one took to the sky as she commanded, in search of prey.

This photograph was taken at 16:57pm on Monday May 16th 2016 on Glacier Highway 37A in the Town of Stewart, a district municipality at the head of the Portland Canal in north western

British Columbia, Canada on the Canada-US border. The US border side is unmanned and the only entry point into the USA from Canada that has no border guard presence.

Photograph taken on Monday September 15th 2008 at 14:36pm. Travelling east on Mt. Baker Highway, State Route 542, just past the Firs Lodge along the left side of the road, we came upon a deserted Picture Lake in the Heather Meadows area, Washington State, USA. From here you can get spectacular views of Majestic Mt. Baker and Mt Shuksan over in Whatcom County as well as the Snoqualmie National Forest.

Here we see Mt Shuksan and her reflection in Picture Lake on a day when just we four intrepid travellers were present on the waters edge. Mount Shuksan is a glaciated massif in the North Cascades National Park. Shuksan rises in Whatcom County, Washington immediately to the east of Mount Baker, and 11.6 miles south of the Canadian border. Standing 2,783 m tall, she was first ascended on September 7th 1906. Known in Nooksack language as Sheqsan (High foot) or Ch esquen (Golden Eagle), she is approximately 120 Million years old.

A Southeastern Network train from Bexleyheath to London Bridge Station at 06:01am this morning, and despite the BBC weather centre assuring me of heavy cloud and light rain, Londoners were treated to a rather spectacular and beautiful sunrise this morning.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Nine metres at 07:34am on Thursday 22nd October 2015, off Bankside on London's South Bank, looking towards The Millennium Bridge, officially known as the London Millennium Footbridge, which was designed by Norman Foster, and was constructed between 1996 and 2000.

It is a steel suspension bridge for pedestrians crossing the River Thames in London, linking Bankside with the City of London. I affectionately call the Bridge, 'The wibbly-wobbly bridge', after somewhat embarassing teething problems which had the old girl flexing in her moorings when first opened. This view looks towards Monument, Tower Bridge and HMS Belfast moored on the River Thames. The mighty Shard is on the right of the frame.

Here, we look further onwards towards St Paul's Cathedral. The Cathedral was designed by architect Sir Christopher Wren, with construction commencing in 1675 and the official opening in 1708. It stands One hundred and eleven metres tall and is a Church of England cathedral, the seat of the Bishop of London and Mother Church of the Diocese of London, It sits at the top of Ludgate Hill, the highest point in the City of London.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Seven metres, at 13:00pm on Monday 20th January 2020, on a beautifully sunny afternoon off Birdcage Walk and Horse Guards Road in the grounds of St James's Park. Situated in the City Of Westminster, the Park spans twenty three Hectares and is the oldest of the Royal Parks of London, with a variety of visiting and nesting birds that include Ducks, Canada Geese and Pelicans.

Here we see, Sciurus Carolinensis (Eastern Gray Squirrel or Grey Squirrel), a tree squirrel native to North America and first introduced to the UK in the 1870's. Though it was largely resonsible for the decimation of our own native red squirrel population, those are now on the increase and found in certain parts of the UK including Scotland. The Greys are still an ecologically essential natural forester regenerator.

Photograph taken at an altitude of One hundred and forty three metres at 15:38pm on Thursday 8th November 2018, off Þingvallavegur 36 in the Þingvellir National Park (Thingvellir National Park) in Iceland. Situated East of Reykjavik, this is the location where the Alþing (Althing) parliamentary general assembly met between 930 CE and 1798.

It has been home to a church for over One thousand years.

The park sits in a rift valley caused by the separation of the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates with cliffs and fissures such as the Almannagjá fault.

Here we are looking over a body of water known as Þingvallavatn (Þingvallavatn lake). The lake has a surface area of 84 km² and a depth of 114m and lies partially with the national park. The only outflow from lake Þingvallavatn is the river Sog.

Situated in the City Of Westminster, the Park spans twenty three Hectares and is the oldest of the Royal Parks of London, with a variety of visiting and nesting birds that include Ducks, Canada Geese and Pelicans.

Here we see a beautiful and amazingly friendly feral pigeon (Columba livia domestica), a relative of the Rock Dove (Columba Livia), identified by it's ash grey wings with black bands. Interbreeding with Stock and Rock Doves and feral pigeons is commonplace, thus wild rock doves in the purest form are now rare.

On November 12th 2015 GETTY IMAGES unveiled plans for a new stills upload platform called ESP (Enterprise Submission Platform), to replace the existing 'Moment portal', and on November 13th I was invited to Beta test the new system prior to it being officially rolled out in December. ESP went live on Tuesday December 15th 2015 and has smoothed out the upload process considerably.

These days I take a far more leisurely approach to my photographic exploits, a Nikon D850 FX Pro body as my trusted companion, I travel light with less constraints and more emphasis on the pure capture of the beauty that I see, more akin to my original persuits and goals some five decades previously when starting out. I would like to say a huge and heartfelt 'THANK YOU' to GETTY IMAGES, and the 30.772+ Million visitors to my FLICKR site.

This photograph was taken at an altitudeof Fourteen metres, in the magic of the Golden hour around sunrise at 06:26am on Friday 27th August 2011 off 1st Street and Beacon Avenue, from the concourse above the shoreline in beautiful Sidney by the sea on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

Here, we are looking over towards Mt Baker in Washington State, USA from beautiful Sidney by the sea on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Also known as Koma Kulshan, (pronounced kō-ō’mah’ kool-shän’),she is an active glaciated andesitic stratovolcano in the Cascade Volcanic Arc and the North Cascades of Washington State in the United States, standing 3,286 metres tall and was first ascended in 1868, her last eruption recorded in 1880.

Also known by the Lummi as Kwud-Shad, and Koba (meaning 'high mountain always covered with snow', was the Skagit name.

Photograph taken at 17:39pm on Tuesday 1st September 2019 off Bradford Avenue in the garden of my Sister in Law who resides in Sidney, on Vancouver Island, British Columbia in Canada.

This is a male Anna's hummingbird (Calypte anna), easily distinguishable by it's crimson red iridescent crown and gorget. Hummingbirds are native to the Americas and are the smallest birds species measuring just three to five inches and weighing less than two grams. Their wingbeats ranhe from 12 to 80 per second and the noise created by the wings gives them their name as the high frequency is audible to humans. They fly at up to 34mph.

The carrion crow (Corvus corone) is a passerine bird of the family Corvidae and the genus Corvus which is native to western Europe and eastern Asia. It can grow to twenty inches in length with a wingspan of up to thirty nine inches.

I would like to say a huge and heartfelt 'THANK YOU' to GETTY IMAGES, and the 24.643+ Million visitors to my FLICKR site.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Six metres, in the magic of the Golden hour around sunrise at 06:14am on Friday 5th September 2014 off 1st Street and Beacon Avenue, beside the old wooden fish market above the shoreline in beautiful Sidney by the sea on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.

Also known by the Lummi as Kwud-Shad, and Koba (meaning 'high mountain always covered with snow', was the Skagit name.
