RAWANDA KIGALI TOUR
PHOTOSTORIES from SunDeepKullu.Com World Travel Fine Art Photography Sept 2012
Having Spent interesting day in Kigali in RAWANDA where I arrived today morning via Entebbe in UGANDA the city of Hills is really great to discover and very distinct from other Africa countries.
Know Kigali Rawanda the best of best -
Rwanda is a relatively stable East African country, and easily accessible from Kenya and Uganda. It is relatively easy, safe and simple to travel around. It is landlocked, surrounded by Uganda to the north, Tanzania to the east, Burundi to the south, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west.
Rwanda is not only the land of a thousand hills, but also a country rich in flora and fauna and stunning natural beauty in its scenic rolling and breathtaking green savannah. The country hosts some rare species of animals like the silverback mountain Gorillas as well as unique birds and insects in the tropical forest of Nyungwe.
Understand
It's been over a decade since the civil war and genocide of 1994 that devastated this tiny country, and it's come a long way. Shake off your memories of war and expect a warm and friendly welcome to a beautiful country.
Rwanda has 3 national parks:
Akagera National Park
Volcanoes National Park – home to the mountain gorillas, this park spreads into Uganda and Democratic Republic of the Congo
Nyungwe National Park
If you are traveling overland, it is no longer possible to obtain a visa at the border. However, visa application can easily be made at www.migration.gov.rw/singleform.php. You will within a few days receive a entry visa acceptance by email. Bringing this acceptance letter, the visa will be issued at the border. The US$60 visa fee is paid at the border.
I'm not a plastic bag!
Thin plastic bags are prohibited in Rwanda. Luggage will be searched at the border and even at police checkpoints throughout the country to make sure you are not carrying plastic bags. Prior to the ban, one-time use plastic bags plagued city streets and threatened the delicate environment. Today, Rwandan cities are almost litter-free and some of the cleanest in Africa!
See
National Museum of Butare in Butare –
Lake Kivu in Western Rwanda – a large lake bordering the DRC, it's a nice place to relax for a week or so
The Genocide Memorial in Kigali – fantastic insight into one of the world's greatest tragedies
The Nyamata Genocide Memorial is a worthwhile complement to the Gisozi Memorial Centre in Kigali. Located in the town of Nyamata, 40 minutes south of Kigali on a newly paved road, the memorial is in a church where over 5000 people were killed during the 1994 genocide. Visitors take a short tour and see the evidence of the genocide that remains there today - victims' clothing piled on benches, the roof pockmarked with bullet holes, and the open crypts behind the church that hold the remains of over 40,000 people from the area. An extremely moving look into one of the places where the genocide was carried out.
The Ntarama Genocide Memorial, just 20 minutes away from the Nyamata memorial, is also worth visiting. Like the Nyamata memorial, this site was a church before the genocide, and was nationalized to serve as a memorial after thousands of people were killed within its walls. The church itself is similar to Nyamata, with victims' clothing and remains visible to offer proof of what happened there, but Ntarama also has a peaceful memorial garden and wall of names in the back of its compound. Ask the resident guide for a tour in English or French, and remember to give them a donation for the site afterwards; it gets almost no support from the government. To get there, take the highway from Kigali to Nyamata and follow the signs for the Ntarama memorial, before you reach Nyamata.
Do
Parc National des Volcans, home of the mountain gorillas, and the setting for Gorillas in the Mist author Dian Fossey's research. If you can afford it it's an excellent experience... even possible as a daytrip from Kigali. Enquire at the Rwandan Office for Tourism and National Parks (ORTPN), Boulevard de la Révolution n° 1, Kigali, +(250) 576514 or 573396, reservation@rwandatourism.com, [4]. It cost 500 US dollars per person. Besides that you will have to take an official taxi which costs you another 50 USD. Prices are rising constantly, and you should really consider if you want them to get away with these rip-off prices, because as long as there are people who pay them, they will continue to rise them.
Respect
Rwanda is a very conservative society; most people dress modestly, especially women. Wearing shorts or tight skirts and skimpy tops is likely to get you stared at twice as much as normal.
It is unusual for a couple to make public displays of affection, even though many men walk hand in hand with male friends. Also, Rwandans will generally never eat or drink in public, apart from at restaurants. Rwandan women are rarely seen smoking in public or out in bars unaccompanied.
Rwandans are very private, reserved people and loud public confrontations (shouting matches) or obvious displays of emotion (such as crying) are also frowned upon. If you feel you are being overcharged by a trader, quietly persisting with the negotiation (or your complaint!) is likely to produce results much faster than an angry outburst!
It is also impolite to make eye contact with an elder.
Please understand that Rwanda is still recovering from a civil war and genocide in which over 800,000 people, perhaps a million, were killed. Many Rwandese lost relatives and friends. Remember to be sensitive to this sad fact when dealing with Rwandese. Most people today are trying to forget the tribal divisions and would rather be referred to as Rwandese than Hutu or Tutsi. It is considered impolite to ask someone about their ethnic origin.
There is not much political discourse in Rwanda, unlike in many neighboring countries such as Uganda and Kenya where people talk freely about the government and political issues, people in Rwanda will be uncomfortable if asked their views or even if seated at a table where national politics is discussed.
Kigali in Rawanda houses several memorials, museums, and centers dedicated to the Rwandan Genocide, including the Kigali Genocide Memorial Centre. Other museums include the National Museum of Rwanda and Kandt House Museum of Natural History.
Urugwiro is the official residence of the President of Rwanda. It constitutes an entire village within the Kacyiru distrct of Kigali.
The city now has international class hotels, some played a role in history:
The Mille Collines in the Kiyovu area. This hotel became a refugee centre during the genocide, as famously depicted in the film Hotel Rwanda (although the hotel shown in the film is in fact in South Africa). It is also the setting for the famous novel Un dimanche à la piscine à Kigali, by Quebecer Gil Courtemanche, and its movie adaptation Un dimanche à Kigali.
The Kigali Serena Hotel, formerly known as the InterContinental Kigali. Formerly a Belgian-owned hotel known as the Diplomates, the hotel was briefly portrayed in the second half of Hotel Rwanda. It was later bought by the InterContinental Hotels group and remodeled in 2003.
Interesting places around Kigali
The Virunga National Park (French: Parc National des Virunga), formerly named Albert National Park, is a 7800 square km National Park that stretches from the Virunga Mountains in the South, to the Rwenzori Mountains in the North, in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, bordering Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Rwenzori Mountains National Park and Queen Elisabeth National Park in Uganda. The park was established in 1925 as Africa's first national park. It was classified as a World Heritage Site in 1979. In recent years the park has become known for its mountain gorillas, although poaching and the Congo Civil War have seriously damaged its wildlife population.

The KOM League
Flash Report
For April 13, 2020
To consume the contents of the latest Flash Report you will either have to click on the following URL or give me a telephone call and ask that it be read to you. www.flickr.com/photos/60428361@N07/49769426826/ As a public service I’d advise that you use the click and read option. To find who the young man in the Flickr photo is you'll have to read the report. In the current vernacular, yes, I'm pushing "full blown exposure" to these reports.
______________________________________________________________________________
Catching up
On March 21, 2020 this note was received. “Hi John: Just wanted to let you know that the KOM League has lost another. My dad Russell White passed away on March 19, 2020 at the good ole age of 93. He has gone to be with his Irish Love.
Wish you the best and we'll continue to read your reports as long as you send them Shawna White-Clough
Ed comment:
A message of condolence was sent to Shawna and the reporting of her father’s death was delayed until there was an obituary to share. The obituary came out on April 9 and on that same day this note was received from baseball necrologist, Jack Morris. “Here’s an obituary for a guy which says he was on the Iola Cubs. I’m assuming he didn’t get into a game since I can’t find him in Baseball Reference or in the TSN contract cards.
www.legacy.com/obituaries/tribnet/obituary.aspx?n=russell...
Obituary
Russell White Russell White (93) went to be with the Lord on March 19, 2020 of natural causes, joining his loving wife Lauretta.
He was born April 27, 1926 to Harry and Juanita White. He was born in Oakville, WA and eventually ended up in Gig Harbor. In 1946 he was signed by the Chicago Cubs and sent to their farm club in Visalia, CA.
He also spent time with the Iola Cubs which was part of the KOM league. Unfortunately, family wanted him back home so unhappily he returned. Upon returning home he got in touch with the love of his life Lauretta (Murphy) and they were married in August of 1948, before her passing in 2017 they had been married for 69 years.
He worked several jobs before being hired by the Peninsula Light Company where he retired from after 38 years. He enjoyed traveling and camping with Lauretta and would end up on some back road to their next destination. They traveled most of the United States, Ireland, Wales, Mexico to name a few. He was a very devoted member of St. John's Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his sister Kay (Vern) Kolves and his four children, Wendy (Alan) Lentz, Dennis White, Denise (Jim) Matthews and Shawna (Tom) Clough. He had 5 grandchildren, Chris, Marci (Ty), Jason, Chad and Tim and 1 great granddaughter Danika, along with several nieces and nephews that he adored. He was preceded in death by his wife Lauretta and brother Jess. A celebration of life will be held at a later time, after the pandemic is under control.
Published in News Tribune (Tacoma) on Apr. 9, 2020
A rather long e-mail was sent in reply to Jack Morris in which it was documented Russell White appeared in three games for the 1946 Iola, Kansas Cubs. Contact was first made with his daughter and later him in 2016. A number of communications went back and forth over the intervening four years. The account of locating the White family can be found in this Flash Report: oldtimerbaseball.com/hall_09.php?year=09&id=02 There are many references to contacts with the White family in the intervening four years and can be shared if anyone needs a reference as to the Flash Report in which they appeared. This site features a photo of Russell and his wife. www.flickr.com/photos/60428361@N07/28643236921/
In the first story written about Russell White he provided many interesting stories not the least of which happened when he was a young man. Of all the people with whom I have ever conversed with regarding baseball, or any other subject, I have never heard of anyone living in a “community” like White described. Go back and read the article and then report to me if you found the “naked truth.”
Being aware that a few baseball researchers peruse this publication it was decided to summarize Russell White’s time at Iola. This note was shared with Jack Morris. “This is Russell Austin White's career in a nutshell. Pitched against Carthage May 23-- 4 hits four runs--no decision. May 17 beat Miami 5-2. Also pitched at Bartlesville prior to May 17-no decision.”
Ed comment:
Receiving an obituary for April 9 has a real impact on Yours truly. It on that date, in 1947, that my father passed away due to ruptured appendix and the lack of penicillin to treat it. For 73 years it has always been my belief that the Hall family, led by my mother and her four children suffered worse on that day than anyone else on the planet.
On the morning of April 10 of this year I decided to look back on the events of April 9, 1947 and found that towns in Northwest Oklahoma, Southwest Kansas and the Texas Panhandle suffered devastation that numerical dwarfed what the Hall’s experienced that same day in Carthage, Missouri. Towns like Woodward, Oklahoma suffered immensely but eventually returned to “normal.” In the same manner the Hall family picked up the pieces and went on about trying to make it. Some 73 years after losing my father I have a reminder of him every day for his tombstone resides just a few feet away from where this report is being written. Don’t call me a weirdo until you ask how that came to be.
So my social commentary relates to the current status of the health of the world. This is not the worst thing that has ever happened, by a long shot and like tornados and deaths from 1947, this too shall pass. .

Death of Ewing Turner—Ponca Dodger
obits.ocregister.com/obituaries/orangecounty/obituary.asp...
Ewing passed away peacefully at his home in Scottsdale, AZ on April 1, 2020; he was 90 years old. Ewing Turner was born on June 28, 1929 in West Plains, MO (Ed note: His parents were living in Dry Branch in Howell County) and was raised in Long Beach, CA. Though Ewing was an only child; he had several first aunts and uncles, along with cousins. Ewing was born into a depression era family to his father, Everett and mother, Lillian.
The Turners were of very modest means and young Ewing was restless at a very early age. He was an excellent student, athlete, and woodworking craftsman. Ewing attended Long Beach Poly where he was an outstanding football, basketball, and track sprinter. His true love was playing baseball. Ewing was an All-CIF catcher at Long Beach Poly and had full ride scholarships to both USC and the University of Arizona.
Ewing, bypassed college and was signed by Hall of Famer, Branch Rickey, of the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. In the summer of 1949 at the age of 20, he met the love of his life, Geraldine Michelick. A whirlwind romance ensued, one year later they were married and the Turners were on a fast track to the big leagues. However, when they arrived home from their honeymoon on September 30, 1950, Ewing was drafted into the U.S. Army to serve on the front lines in the Korean War. Faith, hope and prayers brought Sergeant Turner back in 1952 and he resumed his career with the Dodgers. Ewing and Gerrie traveled the country in pursuit of their dreams from Vero Beach, FL to Ponca City, OK, Pueblo, CO, Mobile, AL and many other stops in between.
In 1955, Ewing and Gerrie, with a toddler and another baby on the way, decided to retire from baseball to move back to Long Beach, California. With his baseball bonus money, Ewing bought Curley's Cafe‚ in Signal Hill, still operating to this day as it has since 1932. The Turner's settled into a small home in Signal Hill. With one more move to Long Beach, they eventually purchased their dream home in 1960 on Rowena Drive in Rossmoor, CA. With 4 children to raise, Ewing became the ultimate super dad and helped construct the St. Hedwig's Little League fields in Rossmoor and became a mentor and coach to many young dads that had never played or coached.
Ewing and Gerrie also expanded their business ventures into other businesses: Turfside Liquor in Cypress, Automotive Salvage Yards Admore and Allco Auto Wrecking and Signal Savings & Loan. Ewing also became a Steering Committee Member of the Long Beach Second Guessers Professional Baseball Players Association of America and served as President (and Lifetime Honorary Member) of the Signal Hill Police Officers Association a philanthropic organization from 1978-80.
Ewing's work ethic on the baseball diamond, in the community, or running his businesses, was unrivaled out the door at 4:30 AM and home by 7:00 PM; he loved running Curley's. He always said he had the "best customers in the world" and he treated them like family. Great food, world famous chili and a stiff drink was their brand, no menu ever, daily blue plate specials prepared by his Aunt Ruth. His check cashing business and service to the oil field roustabouts was legendary. The locals knew it took some gumption to run Curley's, an occasional argument and bare-knuckled brawl might ensue over a lost wager but Ewing was there to restore order.
A friend to all, enemy to none, Ewing also served as the official lender to those in need. For 35 years, on a handshake, Ewing was there for his customers covering payroll or issuing credit when times were tough in the oilfields. As a salute to his customers, for 35 years, Ewing organized an annual Dove Hunting trip for the Signal Hill Curley's crew to Gila Bend, Arizona.
Ewing was known as the unofficial mayor of Gila Bend over the Labor Day Weekend. He would rent out the entire Space Age and Payless Motels and was legendary for his sharpshooting skills and hollering "my bird" before his epic opening night dove feed. Ewing and Gerrie became avid golfers in the early 1970's and convinced several other neighborhood couples to join Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach. Known as the "Hic and Hackers," Gerrie and Ewing organized many golf trips over the years and traveled with their friends to Hawaii, Palm Springs, Ojai, San Diego and Las Vegas for memorable golf outings. From 1975 to 1984, Ewing was the weekend chef to many of the Turner kids' friends. "You are always welcome to stay for dinner," our Dad would say and eat they would! He fed half of the Los Al Griffin football team over a ten-year span from 1969 to 1979. Filet Mignon and Lobster was always on the menu and grilled to order. Mom & Dad were always up for a celebration and party-planning was their specialty.
Birthdays, graduations, costume parties, Rose Bowl, Super Bowl and the Turner's famous Curley's chili "joke" parties were among the most popular parties, but their favorite party was a Cocktail Party! Family vacations were a big priority for Ewing and Gerrie. From Donner Lake, Mammoth, Hawaii, Bass Lake, trips to Colorado, Mexico, Canada, Lake Arrowhead and finally a "cabin" the 'Hillbilly Hilton' in Canyon Lake, CA. After the kids went off to college, Gerrie and Ewing traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe with many of their closest friends for many years. Ewing and Gerrie sold their Rossmoor home in 1995 and moved to Canyon Lake to set up shop for the next nine years on their 13th tee box home at Canyon Lake Country Club. In 2004, Gerrie and Ewing were on the move again to Phoenix, AZ to settle into their sunset years. Mom & Dad loved their Arizona sunsets in the Sonoran Desert.
Ewing is now at home, resting in peace with the Lord with his beloved wife, and the many dogs they raised, including their especially cute "Cupcake" who passed on the same day as Ewing. As parents, they always said "Dogs go to heaven, too." Ewing is survived by: his daughters, Dr. Pamelee Turner Santesteban of Scottsdale, AZ, Jana Lynn Turner of Newport Beach; his sons, Kerry Ewing Turner and daughter-in-law Alicia of Rossmoor, Kevin Michael Turner and daughter-in-law Perrin of Coto De Caza; grandchildren Austin Fairbourn, Ashley Turner, Patrick, Riley, and Lily Turner; grandson-in-law Charlie, and great-granddaughters, Turner Marie and Jennings James Fairbourn. He is also survived by his third adoptive son, Robert Harrison Bowles, of Denver, CO and wife Lynn and their four children.
In lieu of flowers, Ewing is being honored with donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org/donate). Ewing's life was celebrated with military honors, an intimate family Catholic funeral mass in Scottsdale, AZ on Saturday, April 4, 2020 with interment at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ.---Published in Orange County Register on Apr. 10, 2020
Ed comment:
When news arrives of the death of any former KOM leaguer an attempt is made to inform his teammates from the year(s) he played. In the case of Ewing Turner contact was made with Dick McCoy in Omaha, Nebr. Here is the reply from Molly McCoy. “Just opened our iPad and saw your news so glad Dick had gotten to visit with him. That was a very nice obit of his interesting life. We are getting along well in our new life style but miss seeing our family. We do take a ride a couple times a week maybe DQ and then back home. Hope you and your family are doing well.” Love Molly and Dick

Note from faithful reader-- Bill Clark
This is a note from former major league scout, Bill Clark.
I just read the latest Flash Report and continue to be intrigued by your ability to dig out guys that have been forgotten – or never really known – for 70 years. I’ve been doing a bit of it on Ancestry, but in regard to historical data on folks who have been dead in our county for 150 years. I’m beginning to find my way around. Old dogs do learn new tricks./ And I’m damned sure old. I’ll be 88 soon. That means I can be played like a piano.
I’m still grinding out five columns a week and, even though I’m staying at home in an effort to reach Age 88 and beyond with all my systems working, I have no problem conjuring up something of interest – at least to me. I’m about the only one who reads them.
Tomorrow’s bird column about an eight-day escape from home to bird a dozen different spots in mid-Missouri occupied only by the birds and the sole birder – ma way to relieve the boredom of four walls and a computer.
Keep on sending KOM League news, even if only you and I are reading these days.
OL Clark
Ed comment:
With the foregoing in mind these are some tidbits of information, recently uncovered, that will be of little interest to most readers but might be what it takes to get Ol Clark through this time of Covid whatever number it is.
It dawned on Yours truly, in recent days, that this forum might be putting out as much news as outlets such as ESPN and the sports departments of FOX, NBC, ABC, CBS et. al. At least what you find in this report is true, mostly.

Leading the age parade
The lone reader of these reports in Canada, Barry McMahon, mentioned that with the passing of Shannon Deniston who was the oldest living former KOM leaguer. That honor now rests with Robert Field of Hutchinson, Kansas who played for the 1946 Miami, Oklahoma Blues. The following are those born in 1922-23-25 and 1925.
Robert E. Field-- 8/27/1922 (Miami 1946)
Willis Frank Carruth-- 9/30/1922 (Bartlesville 1948)
Ruel WilliamWaggener--10/23/1923 (Pittsburg and Bartlesville 1946 then Bartlesville 1947)
Jasper Bono-- 3/15/1924 (Chanute 1946)
Nicholas Kucher --11/1/1924 (Ponca City 1947)
John Lawrence Bulkley --1/5/1925 (Chanute 1946-47)
William Edward McProuty --2/27/1925 (Independence 1947)
Robert J. Kapinus-- 4/10/1925 (Iola 1946)
Peter S. Maropis--9/27/1925 (Bartlesville 1948)
To my knowledge neither Jasper Bono and Nicholas Kucher have middle names. If they had one now it might well be “Longevity.”
One the opposite end of the spectrum the youngest living former KOM leaguers were born in 1933. There are 28 men who have or will reach the 87 mile marker this year. Those born from August to December are the youngest of the group. They are:
Robert L. Zuccarini-- 12/15/1933 (1951 Pittsburg Browns)
Bobby Uriah Elkins-- 12/9/1933 (1950 Ponca City Dodgers)
Arvil Lee Coonradt—12/6/1933 (1952 Ponca City Dodgers)
James Joseph Cesanek—11/30/1933 (1952 Iola Indians)
Theodore James Downey—11/6/1953 (1952 Ponca City Dodgers)
Thomas J. Guderian—10/14/1933 (1952 Blackwell Broncos)
Joseph Daniel Parisi—9/25/1933 (1952 Ponca City Dodgers)
Vernon Leroy Summers—9/10/1933 (1952 Bartlesville/Pittsburg Pirates)
William Ellsworth Eastburn—9/4/1933 (1951 Carthage Cubs)
Les G. Machen Jr.—8/9/1933 (1952 Ponca City Dodgers)
Joseph C. “Corky” Buckstead—8/5/1933 (1951 Bartlesville Pirates 1952 Bartlesville/Pittsburg)

A reader enjoyed a recent tale
John: That story of the young man telling Miss XXXX, the roving teacher, that if she passed away he would be the ugliest person in the world was hysterical! I don't suppose you know if Miss XXXX continued to teach, or if after receiving that candid remark from one of her students, she tendered her resignation and joined a carnival as the world's ugliest woman?
Regardless John, keep up the good work. During these very trying times, your reports offer a great diversion from all the negativity in our lives. Sincerely, Leo Downey
Ed reply:
The Miss XXXX was about the meanest teacher I ever encountered. She had been the principal at one of the grade schools and she was finally relegated to roving status in her last year or two of employment
Once, in our geography class, she came upon a boy who had his book opened to the map of the world. He had a pencil with string tied to it. The string was touching the Pacific Ocean. Miss XXXX was looking over his shoulder and inquired as to what he was doing. He turned to her with a shhh! and said, “Be quiet before you scare the fish away.”
Miss XXXX had long boney fingers and enjoyed placing them under students collar bones and pulling upward. At my 50th high school reunion the brother of the boy who was caught fishing in class told me a tale I don’t recall. He said that I once warned Miss XXXX if she grabbed my collarbone that she would have my mother to deal with and she wouldn’t like the result. I can’t believe I said it but if I did I’m proud of myself.
Comment:
This is basically for the readers who attended Carthage schools at the same time as Yours truly. Miss XXXX parents came to the United States, from Ireland. Miss XXXX’s father was a tailor who passed away in 1925. By that time his daughter had reached the age of 41 and thus when my age group arrived on the scene Miss XXXX was already of retirement age and not much in the frame of mind to tolerate much from students of my generation.

Robert Glynn Carter www.findagrave.com/memorial/8127137/robert-glynn-carter
Until recent days I was never able to track the fate or whereabouts of Robert Glynn Carter. He caught, briefly, for the 1952 Ponca City Dodgers but made a living scouting for them for many years. He was born July 1, 1932 in Downsville, Louisiana. He was assigned to Ponca City from the Valdosta, Georgia club on July 15, 1952.
After his playing days, which ended in 1956, he scouted for the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1958—1965 and then spent two years, 1967-68 doing the same job for the Philadelphia Phillies
Carter passed away July 17, 2003 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
This is a link to Robert Glynn Carter’s Sporting News card: digital.la84.org/digital/collection/p17103coll3/id/15035/...
In reviewing these cards just remember that there are omissions and other mistakes on them at times. The Item Description section is how the person summarizing the card deciphered it. Some names on the item description are far from the real thing. For example I tried finding Travis Kunce of the Miami Owls. I won’t go into the details. However, I pointed out how that got interpreted from the original card. It was documented and sent to Jack Morris of baseball necrology fame and he sent it along to the research group to make the change.
Ed note:
Carter’s photo is the one accompanying this report on the Flickr site: It was taken while he was in high school at Ouachita High School in Monroe, Louisiana.

Larry Glenn Smith
This gentleman was another member of the 1952 Ponca City Dodgers who they released on May 10. That is shown on his Sporting News card. It appears he went to Abbeyville, Louisiana of the Evangeline league for the rest of the season and after that his baseball career was nothing more than insertions on an index card kept in St. Louis by the Spinks and Sons. Peruse this one: digital.la84.org/digital/collection/p17103coll3/id/132212...
Unfortunately, there was nothing on his Sporting News card to indicate his place of birth and as yet I haven’t deciphered anything on Ancestry.com that would provide definitive information.

Wayne Parge may have been Wayne Parks—but probably not
Another fellow who showed up in Ponca City for a brief visit in 1952 was a gentleman only identified in an Associated Press line score. It showed up as Parg, Parq, Parge and Parks without a first name. Over the years a search was made for persons of that age range and the closest one ever found was Wayne Parge, a right handed pitcher from Malaka Township, Iowa.
Nothing definitive was ever found on this person after he left his Iowa farm home. In recent days an attempt was made to find someone fitting that profile and this was located. digital.la84.org/digital/collection/p17103coll3/id/173852... The person on this card would have been the property of the St. Louis Browns. When he was on the inactive list he could have possibly been sent to Ponca City for a “look see.” However, if I attempted to win this case in the court of law, with that amount of evidence, I’d lose my case, big time. In short this guy has me stumped.

It wasn’t Boerger but rather Boeger
A quarter century ago the name of Gerald Paul Boerger was added to the KOM league database on the basis that he was signed by the New York Giants out of St. Louis, Mo. and sent to Chanute, Kansas on July 1, 1948. He lasted until July 3 and his KOM league career was over. However, years of searching produced no trail on the fellow. Then, on a hunch the spelling of his last name was “tinkered” with and a search was made for Gerald Paul Boeger. This was found on the Internet: Gerald Paul Boeger Obituary. “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Gerald Paul Boeger (Fort Myers, Florida), born in Saint Louis, Missouri, who passed away on January 31, 2018, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family. You may also light a candle in honor of Gerald Paul Boeger or send a beautiful flower arrangement to the funeral service. The link to the obituary is: www.everhere.com/us/obituaries/fl/fort-myers/gerald-paul-...
Mr. Boeger was born January 13, 1929 in St. Louis. His Sporting News card, after his short stint in Chanute was filled with: being released, put on disabled list, reinstated, released, placed on suspended list, reinstated and released. Here is the document verifying what was just shared. digital.la84.org/digital/collection/p17103coll3/id/13196/...

Flash Report loses another reader
It is with a heavy heart that I must pass along the news about Doc Martin. He is home with Jesus as of March 19th. He died four days after his 99 birthday. Clara Dee Martin-Omaha, Nebraska.
Ed comment:
Not many people, aside from steel guitar aficionados would know that name. However, he was a legend back in the days of Red Foley’s nationally syndicated “Ozark Jubilee” aired in the 1950’s from Springfield, Mo. Yours truly was aware of Doc for one of my grade and high school classmates lived a block from me and was his brother-in-law.
A number of years ago contact was made with Doc and one thing led to another and he became the recipient of these reports. I think some of you might have an interest in knowing more about him. His given name was Ulyan Alan Martin. There was no obituary filed for him, according to his widow, and in its place a trio of links are being shared. The first link is a television interview he did in 2016 in Springfield, Mo. The second one is him playing on a live performance of the Ozark Jubilee in the late 1950’s and the third contains a clip of three famous men going inside the Jewell Theater in Springfield in 1958. One of the men is the greatest baseball whoever played in that town (or any other for that matter), the other is the most successful cowboy star of all-time and the third is that of Pat Boone’s father-in-law. You will have to watch closely or you’ll miss it. But, I suspect all of you have time on your hands these days. If any of you suffer from anxiety or hyper activity I’ll give you a hint. The clip of the three famous men is around the seven minute mark of the third clip.

When my friend from grade and high school attended the Ozark Jubilee with his brother-in-law, Doc Martin, Red Foley’s youngest daughter took a liking to him. We’ll call that friend Darrell, for that was his name. Darrell always claimed he was never too fond of Red’s daughter but Red had an older one who caught the eye of Pat Boone and they married and he and his wife had daughter (Debbie) who enjoyed a fine singing career. I think Debbie made some money singing “You Light Up My Life.” www.google.com/search?q=Debbie+Boone+You+LIght+up+my+life...
In my humble opinion this was Red Foley’s best song. I’m sure the group backing him on this was Elmo Fagg and the Blue Ridge Quartet. www.google.com/search?q=red+foley+peace+in+the+valley&...
While we are on the topic of hit tunes of the Foley/Boone family I suppose then one Pat Boone got from Richard Penniman (Little Richard) was the most rambunctious of them all: www.google.com/search?q=pat+boone+tutti+frutti&oq=Pat...
It is recommended you listen to all those songs and thus take your mind off either the shortcoming of this writing effort or the miserable news of the current health issue around the planet. In case you wish to compare Little Richard to Pat Boone on the Tutti Frutti tune I’m sure you know how to Google it.
______________________________________________________________________________
The report continues.
This is name dropping time. Many years later Yours truly encountered Pat Boone in a book shop at a major airport. In those instances you don’t want to say something stupid like “Oh, you’re Pat Boone, aren’t’ you?” We exchanged pleasantries and I inquired about the young daughter of Red Foley who dated Darrell. Boone was surprised that such a question was asked and then filled me in on Jenny’s whereabouts and family.

Another reader was lost in recent days and it hit close to home
It is my belief that the recent articles on Shannon Deniston caught the eye of many readers. One of my late readers knew me about as well and as long as anyone on this distribution list. The news of his passing was shared by his widow. He was my last living first cousin. There is a whole lot I could say about Jimmy Ray Harrison but will let the following link do it for me. Without doubt he had the most eventful life of anyone in the Hall/Harrison clan from which I sprung. I taught him everything I knew about martial arts which was nothing. I now introduce you to “Cousin Jim.”

Winding down
I shall close even though there is much more to share. On the drawing table are some stories about former KOM leaguers on whom some extensive research has been compiled in recent days.
When, and if, I ever get around to it there will be minor to voluminous information on heretofore obscure former KOM leaguers: William D. White, Raymond Harvey Buckner, Charles Hertzer, Thomas E. Johnson, William Horace Sibson Jr., Carroll Hoffman, William Huffman, Jack Clayton Jean, Robert Westgate, George Francis Paul, Don Mathews and possibly a host of others.

Google translation of the text:
A family of red foxes living at the bottom of the pool of Pointe-des-Cascades will be taken over by Hydro-Quebec and by wildlife officers before filling scheduled for June.
During a stroll on the bed of the St. Lawrence River, between the dams of Pointe-du-Buisson and Pointe-des-Cascades, Eric Bégin has noticed the family of red foxes properly installed in its lair located in the interstices of a rock formation.
Concerned about the fate of the animals when Hydro-Quebec will decide to open the valves for the annual pool filling, the citizen of Melocheville therefore contacted THE JOURNAL to inform them of the situation. The monitoring of the situation was provided by the author of these lines, which intervened with officials of Hydro-Quebec to prevent them and their plan of action to address this problem.
Amateur photographer, Mr. Bégin has collected memorable shots of the family of foxes and said he was very concerned about the nature that surrounds it. "The earth is not ours. We must make people aware of the importance of protecting wildlife, "he stressed. The future of these animals is the first concern but also the veracity of the eco-friendly policy advocated by Hydro-Quebec that he wanted to question.
"The foxes give birth between March and April. Their offspring usually leave the den four months after birth, which leads us until July. What is your policy as eco-friendly company facing such a situation? "Questioned Mr. Bégin, in a letter sent to Hydro-Quebec and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Wildlife.
After several bureaucratic transfers, the author of these lines came to talk with Véronique Trépanier, spokesman for Hydro-Quebec for the Suroît region. "The case is already under study. We have taken note of the questions from Mr. Bégin that we have received and we await the guidance of the ministry that overlooks us to intervene "specified Ms. Trépanier.
Happy coincidence
Unlike the basins of St. Timothy and Pointe-du-Buisson who are already overwhelmed, filling the Pointe-des-Cascades is expected until mid-June. The latter is delayed each year to help recreate a natural environment that promotes the spawn of the lake sturgeon, in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Wildlife.
"This is a happy coincidence that Mr. Bégin had noticed the family of foxes in this basin still empty. It is also the first time that someone informs us of such a situation and we invite the public to notify us if other events of its kind happens in the region "added the spokeswoman.
When Hydro-Quebec finds a risk, it takes the necessary steps to protect wildlife, and experienced trappers are immediately invested in place to relocate the animals in another environment, where appropriate. "This is not the first time that we act in accordance with nature. The beavers at risk near the dam of St. Louis had been moved a few years ago "said Trépanier.
Out of danger
However, for red foxes that occupy the bottom of the basin of the Pointe-des-Cascades, the situation is still very alarming. As filling the basin occurs gradually at a rate of four centimetres an hour, the wildlife officers believe that the family should have ample time to leave the burrow and to find another habitat. "When the water comes in, foxes will probably come out of themselves, a survival instinct" said the spokesman for Hydro-Quebec.
Soon, those responsible for the case at Hydro-Quebec will contact Mr. Begin to ascertain the exact spot where he noted the presence of this family of red foxes. They also intend to move on site to ensure that the fox pups are old enough and able to evacuate the site when filling occur, and a new litter was not born in the meantime.
"I think it's good that this situation is taken seriously and Hydro-Quebec has the wildlife to heart. I will still make sure that foxes are protected during filling and other animals are not in jeopardy in the future, "concluded Eric Bégin, very pleased to have been heard and contribute to safeguarding of nature.

- Gugat Cerai ke Pengadilan Agama
- Pilih Bayar Pengacara Ketimbang Didampigi Keluarga

SURABAYA - Tren keberanian istri menggugat cerai suami terus meningkat.
(Selengkapnya lihat tabel)
Moh Ersyad, Kasi Pemberdayaan KUA Kanwil Kemenag Provinsi Jatim menyatakan, kemandirian ekonomi perempuan, menjadi variabel penting munculnya tren semakin tingginya dominasi istri sebagai pemohon cerai. “Semakin tinggi kemandirian ekonomi istri, semakin besar pula keberanian mengambil berbagai keputusan penting, termasuk menggugat cerai,” jelas Moh Ersyad..
Pernyataan Ersyad dikuatkan Zainal Arifin Siregar, Humas Pengadilan Agama (PA) Mojokerto. “Kenyataannya memang demikian.
Menghormati Perempuan

(day/ben/idl/fai)

Seshendra Sharma is one of the most outstanding minds of modern Asia. He is the foremost of the Telugu poets today who has turned poetry to the gigantic strides of human history and embellished literature with the thrills and triumphs of the 20th century. A revolutionary poet who spurned the pedestrian and pedantic poetry equally, a brilliant critic and a scholar of Sanskrit, this versatile poet has breathed a new vision of modernity to his vernacular.Such minds place Telugu on the world map of intellectualism. Readers conversant with names like Paul Valery, Gauguin, and Dag Hammarskjold will have to add the name of Seshendra Sharma the writer from India to that dynasty of intellectuals.
Rivers and poets
Are veins and arteries
Of a country.
Rivers flow like poems
For animals, for birds
And for human beings-
The dreams that rivers dream
Bear fruit in the fields
The dreams that poets dream
Bear fruit in the people-

The sunshine of my thought fell on the word
And its long shadow fell upon the century
Sun was playing with the early morning flowers
Time was frightened at the sight of the martyr-

GunturuSeshendraSarma: an extraordinary poet-scholar
One of the ironies in literature is that
he came to be known more as a critic than a poet
HYDERABAD: An era of scholastic excellence and poetic grandeur has come to an end in the passing away of GunturuSeshendraSarma, one of the foremost poets and critics in Telugu literature. His mastery over western literature and Indian `AlankaraSastra' gave his works a stunning imagery, unparalleled in modern Indian works. One of the ironies in literature is that he came to be known more as a critic than a poet. The Central SahityaAkademi award was conferred on him for his work `KaalaRekha' and not for his poetic excellence. The genius in him made him explore `Kundalini Yoga' in his treatise on Ramayana in `Shodasi' convincingly. His intellectual quest further made him probe `NaishadhaKaavya' in the backdrop of `LalitaSahasraNaamavali', `SoundaryaLahari' and `Kama Kala Vilasam' in `SwarnaHamsa', Seshendra saw the entire universe as a storehouse of images and signs to which imagination was to make value-addition. Like Stephene Mallarme who was considered a prophet of symbolism in French literature, SeshendraSarma too believed that art alone would survive in the universe along with poetry. He believed that the main vocation of human beings was to be artists and poets. His `Kavisena Manifesto' gave a new direction to modern criticism making it a landmark work in poetics. Telugus would rue the intellectual impoverishment they suffered in maintaining a `distance' from him. Seshendra could have given us more, but we did not deserve it! The denial of the Jnanpeeth Award to him proves it

Who Are The Legal Heirs of Seshendra Sharma ?
------------------
The literary world is aware that my father Gunturu Seshendra Sharma, eminent poet, litterateur and scholar-critic, died on 30th may 2007. Ever since he expired, there has been no mention of his parents, family members and other personal details in the news and in the articles about him. Not only this, fictional lies are being spread and using money power one shady lady is being propagated as his wife and so on. This has been causing me, as his son, a great mental agony. That is why, through this article, I am revealing certain fundamental truths to the literary field of this country and the civilized society. I appeal to your conscience to uphold truth, justice and values of our composite culture.
Seshendra Sharma's family members are: Parents: Subrahmanyam Sharma, Ammaayamma- Wife: Janaki Daughters: Vasundhara, Revathi, Sons: Vanamali, Saatyaki. Only these two are legal heirs of Seshendra Sharma, socially and morally too.
Street Play and Circus: In 1972, away from the civilized society, without the knowledge of parents and near and dear, in a far flung village called Halebeed in Karnataka a circus, a street play was staged. Let me make it clear that even after this street play my father did not divorce my mother Mrs.G.Janaki legally. He never had even a faint intention of committing such an uncivilized act. On the contrary, in all crucial Government documents he nominated my mother as his legal heir from time to time. During his long career as Municipal Commissioner with The Government of Andhra Pradesh, he retired 3 times. His first retirement came in 1975 by way of compulsory retirement for his anti establishment writings during Mrs. Gandhi's' emergency. His second retirement came in 1983 when the then new chief minister N.T. Rama Rao's government reduced the age of service from 58 to 55 years. The third and final retirement in the year 1985 on attaining 58 years of age. On all these occasions, in all the government documents, my father Seshendra Sharma nominated my mother Mrs. Janaki as his legal heir. This is precisely why the self contradictory 'second marriage' is a circus enacted away from the society and Law does not recognize this type of street plays as marriage.
Lakshmi Parvathi in literature
N.T. Rama Rao, actor turned politician married Ms. Lakshimi Parvathi in 1994 and subsequently in January 1995 he came to power for the second time. She used to act as an extra constitutional power and run the matters of government and the party. She developed her own coterie of cohorts and started dominating the party. After NTR was toppled by his own son- in-law, most of them parted ways with her. And the remaining touts left her for good the day NTR breathed his last. Ms.Indira Dhanrajgir has been playing the same role in Telugu literature over a period of more than 3 decades. In the guise of literature she developed her own coterie of lumpens with extra literary and money mongering elements - Tangirala Subba Rao, Velichala Kondala RAo(Editor:Jayanthi) Cheekolu Sundarayya(A.G.'s Office, Hyderabad et al).
There are a couple[ of dissimilarities between these two instances. After the demise of NTR, L.P's coterie of cohorts disappeared once and for all. Whereas, in Indira Dhanrajgir's case new lumpens are entering the field with the passage of time. Squandering her late father's wealth, she is roping in new touts. Since NTR's wife Basava Tarakam passed away in 1984 and since he was old and sick NTR's marriage with LP has ethical basis and is legal completely. Whereas I.D's is neither ethical nor legal. Hence it is a street play. This is the reason why after my father's death she has been spending money on a larger scale and indulging in false publicity and propaganda. Bh. Krishna Murthy, Sadasiva Sharma (The then Editor of Andhra Prabha:Telugu Daily, presently with Hindi Milap) Chandrasekhara Rao(Telugu lecturer: Methodist Degree College) etc. are indulging in all sorts of heinous acts to prop up I.D as my father's wife.
My father passed away on 30 May 2007. When our family was in grief and I was performing the 11 day ritual as per my mother's wish, the above mentioned Sadasiva Sharma went to Municipal Office on 4th June, created ruckus, played havoc telling them that he is from the Prime Minister's Office , мейд some 'senior officials' make phone calls to the officials concerned and got my father's death certificate forcibly issued. When the entire family was mourning the death of the family head, a stranger and a lumpen S.S -Why did he collect my father's death certificate forcibly from the municipal authorities? Whom did he collect it for?
THREE NAMES OF THE SAME PERSON IN 3 DECADES
This is perhaps for the first time that the name of a lady appears in 3 forms at a time. Perhaps in 1970, in my father's collection of poems"PAKSHULU her name appeared As Rajkumari Indira Devi Dhanrajgir. In 2006 she published a fake version of Kamaostav(Rewritten by a muffian Called Chandrasekhara Rao) . In this book her name appears as R.I.D.D. Prior to 1970 in Maqdoom Mohiuddeen's(Renowned Urdu Poet) anthology of poetry 'Bisath -E-Raks', in Urdu as well as Hindi , at the end of two poems her name appears as Kumari Indira Dhanrajgir. On 15th June 2007 A.P state cultural affairs department and Telugu University jointly held my father's memorial meeting. I.D hijacked this meeting by issuing her own commercial advertisements in English and Telugu dailies. In these advertisements her name appeared as Smt. Indira Devi Seshendra Sharma and again in the commercial public notices мейд by her in the month of November 2007her name appeared as Rajkumari devi etc. Why does her name appear in different forms on different occasions? Will I.D explain? Will Sadasiva Sharma clarify, who forcibly took my father's death certificate after four days of his death? Or will Bh.Krishna Murthy clarify?
If I.D has even an iota of regard, respect for or faith in love, or relation, the institution of marriage, immediately after'Halebeed Circus', she would have used my father's family sir name and her name would have appeared as Gunturu Indira. Since she was conscious of her goal during all times and conditions she did not take such a hasty and mindless step of change of her name.
WHERE DOES THE REAL SECRET LIE? Her life is totally illegal, anti-social and immoral. I.D's father performed her marriage with SRikishenSeth, Nephew of the then Prime minister to Nizam, Maharaja Kishen pershad in 1945. On the day of marriage itself I.D beat SrikeshenSeth up and ran away from him. She did not stop at that. She propagated among his friends and relatives and near and dear that he was not enough of a man and unfit for conjugal/ marital life. She filed a divorce case against him and dragged it till 1969/70. Lion's share of her husband's life got evaporated and was sapped completely by then. His parents used to approach I.D's father and plead with him to prevail upon his daughter, put sense into her head and see that she either lives with their son or dissolves the marriage legally so that they can remarry off their son. But I.D did not heed. Raja Dhanrajgir after getting disgusted with her nasty activities stipulated a mandatory condition in his will. He stated that I.D would be entitled to get a share of his property only if she is married.
This is the reason why ID who has no respect for the institution of marriage or regard or desire for marital life , in the guise of love and love poetry inflicted indelible blemish on the institution of marriage which is unprecedented in the literary history of the world. After my father's death she has been indulging in more rigorous false publicity along with her coterie of touts.
KAMOSTAV:STORY OF ID'S SOUL:
With this novel Kamostav, father's literary life came to an end for good. He did not produce literary works worth mentioning in his later phase of life. During those days he asked for my opinion on that novel. I told him clearly that it lacks the form and content of a novel- it does not have a story line, plot, sequences, characters and eventually a message which every novel gives. Hence it is a trash. Several people went to court and got its publication in a weekly stopped. ID got this very trash rewritten completely by Chandrasekhara Rao and printed it. This kind of heinous development has never taken place in the recorded history of Telugu literature till date. A writing which brought disrepute to my father in the literary field and isolated him in the society, why did she get it rewritten by somebody and publish it claiming copyright to be hers? What is her motive? What is her aim? That is why Kamotsav is ID's biography, story of her inner soul.
SESHENDRA'S COPYRIGHTS:
My father gifted away copyrights of his entire works along with their translations to me by way of birth day gift to me on 2.12.1989. Since then I have published several of his works during his lifetime itself. Kamostav, the version that is secretly мейд available is the dirty work of cheapsters and lumpens under the leadership of ID. It is much worse than violation of copyrights. That is the reason why I have been reluctant to take action so far. If she and her debased henchmen try to violate copyrights of my father's works bequeathed to me, I shall take exemplary legal action against them.
ID мейд 2 public notices to the effect that my father cancelled all his earlier transfer of copyrights and retransferred all his rights to her. This is a palace intrigue in the modern era in our civilized society.
WHAT DOES LAW SAY ABOUT COPYRIGHTS?
An author can transfer copyrights of his works to any one as per her/his wish. But the Copyrights Act 1957 and the Supreme Court in its various judgments has clearly stipulated a procedure to revoke earlier assignment and transferring of copyrights to somebody else subsequently. The author has to issue a notice to the 1st assignee, giving 6 months time for reply. Depending on the reply the author can take his next step. Where as in my father's copyrights matter he did not even inform me orally of any such cancellation. ID claims that she has a typed document of transfer of copyrights signed by my father on 5.1.2006. Between 5.1.2006 and 30.5.2007, leave alone issuing a notice, he did not even inform me orally.
My father who assigned copyrights to me in his own handwriting, when he was relatively young and physically fit did not require to cancel the 1st assignment when he was totally dilapidated, almost bedridden and was counting his days. Another important aspect of the matter is that I have printed the Xerox of my father's document in his own works as early as 1995 and have been doing so from time to time during his life time. Where as ID claims to possess a document after my father's death and she has not мейд it public so far. ID tried to get my father's complete works published in different languages by Telugu University (Hyderabad: A.P: India) by paying them Rs. 6 Lakhs. I approached Telugu University and apprised them of facts. On the advice of legal experts, they stopped this project and returned ID's money to her. It is an incontrovertible fact that ID's document is a forged and fraudulent document which does not stand scrutiny before law. Court shall certainly award her exemplary punishment. In all societies and times literature has been social wealth/public property from time immemorial. It should not be used as a mask to grab share of parental property illegally and unethically. I am committed to this cause/ ideal and appeal to the civilized society to strengthen my hands in this endeavor. ID's younger brother Sri Mahendra Pratapgir is the lone legal heir apparent of that family and keeping him in dark, she is squandering her father's wealth in Telugu literature for her nasty propaganda.
FATHER PASSED AWAY:
In 1997 when he suffered the 1st heart attack he was half-dead. Dr.Sudhakar Reddy, cardiologist of Mediciti Hospitals (Native of Warangal.A.P) performed angiogram and diagnosed that he had blocks in arteries and one valve was damaged completely. He advised open heart surgery. But ID averted it and got angioplasty performed. His health declined rapidly since then and was leading the life of virtually an invalid till he breathed his last. He suffered inexplicable mental and physical torture for about a decade. During the last leg of his journey he was isolated from his family completely. He was deserted by one and all in the literary field. When his younger brother passed away, his younger sister passed away he did not visit his ancestral home in his village and call on those families. He became target of jealousy and animosity in the society. He became a victim of false impression with the society that he was an aristocrat and rolling in luxuries. Whereas, he was deprived of even his native vegetarian food for decades together. As a silent and helpless witness to these painful happenings, I was subject to untold mental agony.
In the later half of March 2007 on one of my visits to him, I was aghast at his condition. His entire body was swollen. His appearance was like that of a stuffed gunny bag. I told him to get hospitalized. I told ID to rush him to a hospital. But of no avail. On 30th may 2007 at about 11 pm I got a phone call from her" Come soon/Serious" she said. As I entered at 11.15 pm "Go inside/he is no more' she said.
* * One day when swarms of lamps vanish, in the light of a lonely lamp I ask the dumb pillars "Can't you liberate me from the disgust of this existence? I ask those stand still forest flame trees
which blossom flowers at that very place year after year
"can't you rescue me?
I ask those high roof tops and this Venetian furniture
which every one feels are greater than me, "can't you rescue me from the disgust of this existence?" All these answer in a melancholic voice "We have been languishing since more than 100 years watching the same unchanging scenes we are older prisoners than you are" (Janavamsham: Telugu: Seshendra: Page 80-81:1993: Translated by me)
My father's first biography (in Hindi) titled "Rashtrendu Seshendra: Ashesh Aayaam" by Dr.Vishranth Vasishth appeared in 1994. Touching upon these very sensitive aspects of my father's life he commented in that book"SONE KE PINJRE ME PANCHCHI" (A bird in a golden cage). Alarmed and agonized by his rapidly declining health, as early as June 2002, in order to bring pressure on ID, I gave a 2 cassettes long interview to Vijayaviharam of Janaharsha group. Later on when I enquired about that interview they said that in the raids conducted on their premises, they got destroyed.
I wanted to rescue my father and bring him back home when he was in good health. Alas! At last, I took him to the burial ground, laid him on the funeral pyre and consigned him to flames and returned home all alone.

Pardon Me Father!
I could not rescue him from the clutches of that nymphomaniac and vampire. There may be an exception or two but an average Indian woman desires from the depths of her soul that her husband should live long and she should pass away before him. She performs prayers and fasts on auspicious days for this purpose. She in spite of being 3years elder to him did away with my father in a planned and premeditated manner and I was a silent and helpless witness to it. He suffered 1st Heart attack in November 1997. Cardiologists performed angiogram and advised open heart surgery. Because there were blocks in vessels and one valve was damaged. But she successfully thwarted it and without my knowledge or informing any one got angioplasty done in Mediciti (Hyderabad: AP; India) her plan was to do away with him and live long, and establish herself as his wife through his books. He was succumbing to her blackmail. My overwhelming hunch is that she was threatening him with social insult and humiliation if he parts ways with her.
Between 1997-2007, she played football with his body. He used to be hospitalized every now and then with swollen body and heart pain. Because of damaged valve pumping was impaired and water used to accumulate in the system. Every time I used to force her to hospitalize him. He used be in ICCU for a couple of days and recover marginally. After each visit to hospital he was getting debilitated gradually. He was put on wheel chair. He was virtually under house arrest. He was not allowed to speak to friends and family members. Visitors were kept away. He was taking Lasix (Tablet: is a diuretic that is used to treat fluid accumulation, caused by heart failure, cirrhosis, chronic kidney failure, and nephrotic syndrome.) to flush out water accumulated in his body. This creates a painful dilemma in me whether my interference in his health matters was just. As his son it was my moral duty to protect him. But I sometimes feel if I were not to interfere she would have put him to death long ago and thus he would have escaped from physical and mental torture quite early.
Towards perhaps end of the month of March she withdrew medication. He got swollen suddenly and that condition continued till the last day i.e. 30th may 2007. Each time I visited I used to tell that witch to take him to hospital. But after a couple of visits I got convinced that she made up her mind this time to do away with him. I requested a bastard who was feigning to be a friend of mine, who incidentally happens to be a legal luminary of this region to send a doctor friend to that place and ascertain the exact condition of his health. But of no avail.
I kept on telling him to come out of that place and lead a normal and healthy life. Her blackmail gained an upper hand and I lost in my efforts to restore health to him and bring him back to civilized society. O God pardon me for not being able to outmanoeuvre her machinations. Pardon me father.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7SLGFNIMvs
Des speechs seront donnés par plusieurs personnes qui ont subi de la brutalité policière dans une manif;

CALL FOR A RALLY IN SOLIDARITY WITH THE VICTIMS OF POLICE BRUTALITY
BY COBP AND L'ASSÉ
THE COBP and ASSÉ invite you for a gathering in solidarity with the victims of police brutality in our demonstrations. We invite all the victims, the crippled and the wounded of the armed wing of the SPVM to be present! And of course all those people who want to denounce police brutality.
On April 3rd 2014, at the protest against austerity measures organized by ASSÉ , Robert Fransham, 71 years old, was brutally thrown from his bike by the riot cops. He went to the hospital and doctors found that he had a concussion. He also had to have stitches on the leg (when he fell , the pedal of his bike opened his leg). As of April 17th 2014, Robert is still in the hospital : there is a complication with his leg and he had to get surgery. He should be out within one or two weeks (hopefully).
We remember the twitter post by the SPVM after the event, which stated that Robert's injury was caused by a projectile launched by a protester. But videos and testimonials released after the demonstration prove quite the opposite.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7SLGFNIMvs
Unfortunately, we find that, increasingly, police brutality invades our events. We also observe that the SPVM finds itself more and more at ease in our demonstrations (for example, walking as they please in the middle of our meet up points with their GoPro cameras). It is completely unnacceptable to let the SPVM establish a police State and a climate of fear in our gatherings!
Robert is a victim among hundreds of others, but one victim is one too many. And what shocks us more about this story is how the SPVM tried to blame the demonstrators for his injuries. We are also saddened that, after his fall, the cops walked next to him without giving him any attention.
The COBP and ASSÉ strongly denounce the many cases of police brutality during the demonstration on April 3rd and also all the other events. It's becoming increasingly difficult to get our messages and our demands heard in a context where we're constantly brutalized by the cops. POLICE BRUTALITY IN OUR EVENTS MUST STOP! POLICE BRUTALITY IN OUR DAILY LIVES MUST STOP! SOLIDARITY WITH ALL THE VICTIMS OF THE PUNITIVE POLICE MACHINE!
