Berwick-upon-Tweed, more commonly known simply as Berwick (pronounced Berrick) is an ancient walled town at the far Northern reach of the Northumberland Coast. Throughout history this has been an area of intense conflict, and evidence of this is visible today, with it's huge fortified town walls. In Elizabethan times the Town had huge defensive walls built to deter the potential invasion of the Scots. Berwick changed hands between the English and the Scots 13 times before finally being re-captured in 1482 by the English, in who's hands it has remained ever since.
I am having such a good time with this series I am doing...all about imagination. I am going to do a behind the scenes video that goes through my process of prop building and my thoughts on how to bring imaginary scenes to reality...at least how I am going about doing it...however successful that is :-P I got this dress yesterday in Goodwill...children's size...oops! As long as i don't show the back of it, I'll be fine ;-D
In other news - if anyone has emailed workshops@brookeshaden.com before last week, I likely did not receive your email. SO many apologies!!! That address has been broken which I did not realize. Fixed now! I wasn't ignoring you!
I hope that you enjoy this new series as I build it. I hope to begin building some darker images for the series soon :)

Once upon a time, everything was alright
I used to feel safe, not a worry in sight
Then I grew up, quickly realized
The world is a fucked up place sometimes
Death is at your door
Reachin' in from the other side
It's time to cut the cord
Hangin' on like a parasite, go (ah)
Hangin' on like a parasite
Hangin' on like a parasite
Don't hesitate, you're hangin' on for your life
Don't hesitate, you're reachin' out from the light
Walkin' on a razor's edge
My blood runs black, I'm not your friend, uh, fuck
Pull from the depths of the 36 Chambers, ah
Ah, pull the trigger, give a bullet to a stranger, nice
Ah, pull from the depths of the 36 Chambers (haha-haha-ha)
Pull the trigger, give a bullet to a stranger
I don't wanna die (die), but I'm not gonna live
In a place so cold, in a world like this (this)
Crucify me (me), it's blasphemy ('my)
Throw me in the fire, let me burn for eternity (go, go, go, go)...

Upon reflection, we shouldn't have walked this narrow path - barely above water level, dividing two areas of open water. Half way along, we were stopped in our tracks by the muddy skid mark of a huge alligator belly. We've lived here long enough to know better. I blame COVID.
A slightly different view of a previous shot, closer in on the posts. I liked the vignetting created by the clouds and their reflections :)

A sunny but cold day at the beach with my daughter. It's these simple days that make the best memories.
Insert something philosophical here... I'm too sore and worn out...
I do gain so much from hearing all your thoughts though, and I am continually greatful for all of you who take time to follow me.... Thank you so much...
To my flickr contacts: I am sorry I have not been able to keep up with all your recent photos, nor have I had much time to post my own. I am departing soon for some travels and hope to return with much new material. For those who have tired of my vineyard shots, I depart with this photo in which the vineyard plays only a very minor role, but it hopefully provides an opportunity to reflect on the many things that are good in the world.
PS: Happy Mother’s Day!
just before landing ... after a long long night flight across Africa all the way down to the Indian Ocean ... what a sight that was!
The home of William Shakespeare.
The Royal Shakespeare Theatre can be seen on the right bank of the River Avon. The spire of The Holy Trinity Church, which was Shakespeare's local church, can be seen further down the river. William Shakespeare's grave is in The Holy Trinity Church.

Experimenting with attaching an old Nikkor lens (35mm f2.8 ais) to the Fuji... Results are encouraging and I'm pleased with the sharpness. Just need some nicer weather now!

A westbound nears Grass Lake, California on Southern Pacific's Black Butte Subdivision in May 1987. The excess height Oregon, California & Eastern boxcars near the head end of the train are a giveaway that this job made a pickup before leaving the yard at Klamath Falls.
