Just after the UP merged with CNW. At least the Union Pacific had some interesting power leading this empty coal train.

These two low flying speedsters (Pacific Black Ducks) were in perfect opposing synchronisation as I managed quite a few shots in a row with one set of wings being up, and the other down. They were really moving too, and I was actually completely shocked and pleased that the camera locked and held focus on them. This lens combination with the extender at a fixed f16 is definitely not an ideal birds in flight set up. The ducks were skimming along the surface of the Murray River in Mannum, South Australia.
Happy Wing Wednesday!
This is for Emmanuelle, who prefers my reflection shots vertical, but I thought I'd try a reverse first! Up and down is a track by John Lee Hooker and is perfect! Because the headland at Whitmore stairs is a similar shape from both sides it took me a while to realise this was inverted!
Shot near Union Square.I don't know who came up with the idea of putting these charging tables at some of the city's public places, but I think that was a smart move.I didn't know that the one seen here was at this spot when I needed to charge my phone (don't ask why) until I saw it recently in the shot. There was one charging kiosk I used at an eatery on 3rd Avenue. The kiosk had about three small compartments that were lined up vertically. You slip your debit or credit card in a slot to open up one of the compartment doors (you don't get charged, your card number is just read). You then connect one of the charging cables to your phone and leave it inside to charge. If you want to eat something at the eatery (or even go somewhere else) to kill time you can do that too, then return later for your phone.Having the phone charging kiosks installed at the eateries is certainly good business for them,I think.

This mockingbird was at the top of an Electric Pole singing. Every couple minutes it would fly up a few feet and then resume it's position.
Hello Everyone,
I'm trying to remember to catch the light by looking up more often. In doing so, I caught some morning light behind two rather large oak leaves which pleased my eye. I hope you don't get sick of viewing fall leaves, because I have a "thing" for them!
Thank you so much for stopping by and for your comments. I do love hearing from you! Have a marvelous day!

We managed to run up the gantry at Haworth Station, just in time to catch the steam train before it moved on to Oxenhope!
Gonna be on vacation the next two weeks. Click on full shot to count the birds. ;-)
See you in November! :-)
Matilija Poppy has been called the "Queen of California Flowers". Unique and distinct, it is one of the most recognized and beloved of California’s native plants. The large white blooms are the size of a saucer. The petals look like wrinkled crepe paper, the center is a bright yellow disk. Some have likened the flower to the appearance of a fried egg. A solitary bloom is a very fine thing, but a large stand of Matilija in full bloom is a sight to behold! Hundreds of huge white flowers borne at eye-level on long straight stems, contrasted by attractive blue-green foliage… a real show stopper in late spring/early summer!
Thanks to everyone for stopping by to view, fave, and comment!!

The “line_up“ is a paperwork series I developed since 2010. The “liners” are made out of paper (Din A3/A4),
oil paint and graphite. The theme is the hermetical laws of polarity and movement. There is no ending and no beginning in any direction, just an endless movement. You have the possibility to arrange the papers like you want and that makes it an endless playground for my photo-work and the eyes of the viewers.

On a sunny morning a few weeks back, 920 heads north from Waikouaiti up the short but relatively steep Tumai Bank.
