Der Wanderweg entlang des Padonkamms in den Dolomiten bietet immer wieder wechselnde Aussichten zur Marmolada, dem höchsten Berg der Dolomiten, am gegenüberliegenden Talufer. Ein nächtlicher Regenschauer bot mit einer Pfütze auf einem flachen Felsblock sogar die Möglichkeit, das Bergmassiv als Spiegelbild einzufangen. Mit der großen Knipse klappte der notwendige Kippwinkel nicht, aber für solche kniffligen Motive gibt's ja heutzutage das Handy als Alternative.

Auch in s/w ist die Felsenwelt der Rosengartengruppe in den Dolomiten durchaus fotogen. Was sich hier in schwarz-grau-weißen Tönen vor dem Fotografen ausbreitet ist der Blick vom Rifugio Negritella auf das Massiv des Gran Cront rechts vorn. In der Bildmitte sieht man die Vajolettürme und links unter der Wolke erhebt sich die Rosengartenspitze (Catinaccio) in den Himmel.

Well, it's not the longest possible ride (or walk) because this is the shorter part of the three-part collonades that surround the so-called Kollonadenhof (Collonade Courtyard) that is a part of Berlin's Museumsinsel building complex, a UNESCO Heritage site, at Berlin's historical center.

The title is inspired by the bike, of course, and if you look closely, you can also see a person disappearing between the columns. This is a well-frequented, photogenic spot (right behind the Berlin Cathedral) in an area replete with photographic subjects, so I had to wait a little until the scene was (almost) clear – except for the person walking out of the scene, of course ;)

The image also lent itself to some sliding. When we arrived there, the blue hour was just setting in and lights in the collonades were on but I didn't like the yellowish hue. Since I was also torn between colour and monochrome, I processed both in Photoshop (in NIK's respective tools Color and Silver Efex), and then layered the colour version with the black and white version which helped reduce the unpleasant yellow tone and brought in some nice pinkish notes. Mere HSL sliding didn't achieve this but just added a "paleness" to the image that I didn't like too much.

Special locomotive - old electric locomotive with a coke extinguish wagon

Die Lokomotive und die entsprechenden Waggons wurden direkt an den Brennöfen eingesetzt. Der Koks, welcher in die Waggons zum löschen geladen wurde, hatte eine Temperatur von 1.000° C und wurde mit Wasser abgelöscht. Pro Tonne Koks sind ca. 2 m³ Wasser zur Löschung notwendig. Reinigung des vor allem mit Staub, Wassergas und Schwefelwasserstoff verunreinigten Wasserdampfes war sehr problematisch. Noch 1986 lagen lagen die Messwerte für einen Koksnasskühlvorgang bei 200 bis 2000 g Staub pro Tonne Koks.

Der Bau des Gebäudes fand zwischen 1902 und 1904 statt. Architekten waren Johannes Grotjan und von der Firma Hanssen & Meerwein Bernhard Hanssen und Wilhelm Emil Meerwein.

Die Speicherstadt steht seit 1991 unter Denkmalschutz und ist seit dem 5. Juli 2015 mit dem benachbarten Kontorhausviertel auf der Liste des UNESCO-Welterbes eingetragen.

Alpenmurmeltier (Marmota marmota) in den Südtiroler Dolomiten an der Ostseite der Rosengartengruppe (Catinaccio). Das Tierchen saß recht geruhsam und entspannt in der Sommersonne und beobachtete die zum Rifugio Gardeccia absteigenden Wanderer (darunter auch mich). Im unteren Teil des Wanderwegs führte der Weg dann nochmals direkt an mehreren Murmeltierbauen und seinen Bewohnern vorbei.

Das Alpenmurmeltier ist ein typischer Vertreter der eiszeitlichen Tierwelt, die ursprünglich auch im europäischen Tiefland zu finden war. Heute ist die Verbreitung auf Gebirgshöhenlagen begrenzt, da die Tiere nur hier geeignete Umweltbedingungen finden.
